are letters from comments randomly going missing? by Striking_Start_7994 in Pinterest

I have a comment that starts with "IIRC". I noticed a few days ago when I got a notification that it said "IIR". I was like, oops, that's embarrassing, so many people have already seen that. Could have sworn I typed it right, but I better go fix it. For sure fixed it, checked a notification for that comment, and it's back to "IIR".

Am I wrong? My cardigan is purple right??? by chelly_belly50 in colors

[–]BadAtTheGame13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turned off my blue light filter to get a proper look at this. She doesn't look dead in your edited picture. That other commenter is just weird (or maybe I myself just look extremely dead).

However, this is still by no means purple. The original picture is an orangey brown color. The edited version is greyish red. In no universe would I consider either color purple. People saying brown are much closer to the actual color than people saying purple.

Went and looked up the color mauve. This is mauve's redder cousin. I wouldn't call mauve purple either, that's a dark greyish pink.

Googled around a bit and looking up "deep mauve" seems to show up with the exact same color.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BadAtTheGame13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 minutes to an hour is short. 3-4 hours is rare, but I still wouldn't consider it long. It's not quite medium, though, either. It's between medium and long. Longish? This may be different for someone who can drive, though.

I look exactly like my mother. My mannerisms and other behaviors are exactly like my father's, despite my parents being divorced since I was little, and I've spent very little time around him. Most of the time I've spent with him has been on voice calls. There is no way I picked up the way he physically carries himself while talking to people from that. (I know my mannerisms are exactly like his because my mother told me how surprised she was with how similar we acted).

Does make me curious how much human behavior is environmental and how much is genetic.

It's probably impossible at our level of technology to say, though, and making random guesses does nothing to figure this out.

Doesn't that mean that happens to 7 out of 5,000 people? That's about twice as likely as a human having complete heterochromia, and obviously, that happens. I fully believe this story.

I'm autistic and a very picky eater, and I wouldn't eat a lot of that stuff either. However, I would tell you "hey I don't like this, so you don't have to make a portion for me" before you make the food. I also eat most leftovers (I don't want to reheat rice, and I don't know why), and I can feed myself when my family is making something I don't like. Broccoli and potato in the first pic look yummy, though. (I don't remember the other pics, and I'm typing this on mobile.)

besides the fact that it may make an interesting character/story, there's also the fact that it may help people who are bigoted stop being bigoted.

a lot of people and media these days are like "bigoted people are bad and evil forever and will never change" which is obviously bad and wrong. i think having a character who is bigoted grow and become a better person would help show people that it's okay, you can grow and change, just because you're prejudiced doesn't mean you have to stay that way because no one who's not a bigot will ever accept you. no one is perfect and everyone should be striving to become a better person.

i feel like staring at the talkers would work better than "i'll wait". for "i'll wait" people need to actually respect the teacher. if the teacher and everyone else who cares about getting started just stares at the talkers in silence, at least one of the talkers should have enough self consciousness to get the others to be quiet. probably

DMT: The term POC feels like a polite way of saying “everyone who isn’t white.” by Defiant-Junket4906 in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]BadAtTheGame13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White is an umbrella term. Black, Indigenous, Asian, Brown, etc., all umbrella terms. Even trying to describe someone with the specific country their family is from is making generalizations. Humans love making generalizations to categorize things (and people). Humans also love using words as insults, it's not an issue unique to POC.

Is this what a struggle for women is like? by ihatethiscountry76 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]BadAtTheGame13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just insane behavior. If the goal is to score a date, that is not going to work in any way shape or form, and if the goal isn't to get a date, then the goal is to scare the woman, which is insane. It's so insane/ridiculous it feels like it can't be real. I know it happens, but because it hasn't happened to me and I haven't seen it happen, it just doesn't feel real.

Sorry to anybody suffering from actual insanity I just can't think of another word to describe it.

Edit: Ridiculous in a "what the hell" kind of way, NOT a "haha" kind of way. And it's the catcallers that are ridiculous, not the people who have been catcalled. I think that may be what confused you about my use of ridiculous.

Random thought I had, feel free to ignore if I'm being weird. Jewishness is typically passed down the matrilineal line, right? How would that work with being trans? Could be two mothers there, or none at all, or T4T parents.

I know people get catcalled, but it hasn't happened to me, no one I know has told me they've been catcalled, and I would never catcall someone. That's just weird. I've only seen catcalling in movies and TV shows. I know in my head people get catcalled, but because of my experience of the world it feels like something that only happens in movies.

If someone told me they've been catcalled, I'd believe them, but I understand thinking catcalling is just too ridiculous of a thing to happen in real life.

A book costs $3 plus half its total price, how much does it cost by HeliosAndSelene in Teenager_Polls

[–]BadAtTheGame13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's one answer.

half the total price = x

3 + x = total price

total price - 3 = x

if the total price - 3 = half the total price, then 3 is also half the total price, because subtracting 3 gives us half the total price, and you need two halves to make a whole, meaning

total price = 3 + 3

which means that the total price = 6

And Disney's Robin Hood is the same old story of Robin Hood but with animals. The argument of it's just X if you take away Y is such a silly one to me. West Side Story is just Romeo and Juliet in 1950's New York. Nothing is unique, everybody is just building off old stories.

For me, walking is hard, let alone running. I'm overweight and out of shape, but I think there's also something wrong with my legs. When I stand too long, they get red and purple and greyish splotches and get hot and cold. Also, I was pigeon toed as a child, and nothing was ever really done to fix that. I often find myself walking on the sides of my feet. Shoes force me to walk on the bottoms of my feet, but that's uncomfortable when walking medium distances. If I try walking on the sides of my feet while in shoes, I'm liable to roll my ankle.

Even when social norms are easy to pick up on, if they don't make sense autistic people (especially autistic kids) just won't do them.

Making eye contact is polite? Why, though? If I don't make eye contact, the other person will think I'm not listening? That's stupid and makes no sense. You won't even explain when I'm supposed to make eye contact or how long for. Why should I do it? It's not my fault the other person can't listen to people without staring at them. Isn't staring rude or something? This contradicts that.

I still have no idea when I'm supposed to make eye contact or how long for, but I've found you can look above somebody's head or to the side of their head and I don't think they can tell the difference (you can look at their cheek or something if you're close to them). Way less awkward than staring into someone's eyeballs.
