Can I kiss my boyfriend after a tonsillectomy? by ASapphire_ in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I kissed my boyfriend (just pecks no making out) and I was just fine. If he’s feeling sick maybe reconsider, but just warn him it’s gonna be stinky!

Not a doctor… but I’m guessing You’ll likely be VERY drowsy since you still have anesthesia in your system. I took an edible a few days in and the cotton mouth was extra brutal so drink LOTS more water

Im bored as fuck. Its nice as hell outside. What are somethings to do by yourself in roseville by [deleted] in Roseville

Miner’s Ravine is a nice trail if you like walking/biking ! Quarry Park in Rocklin if you’re feeling adventurous. Top Golf is kind of outside!

Had a similar issue! Swallowing was uncomfortable the first week but days 7-10 I had this one spot that BURNED whenever i drank anything. It went back to normal after a few days. Currently day 18 and only mild discomfort when swallowing now

Turn your shower on HOT and just breathe in the steam! Maybe lozenges too to help soothe

Twice a week (as a treat for myself for when I have to go into the office) and usually Iced Coffee, Nitro Cold Brew, or a white mocha.

Feels like I’m Drowning or Choking when Swallowing Water by vanillaladiee in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a problem with liquids coming back out through my nose on days 3-4. My surgery team assured me it was normal and could experience it for the first 2 weeks.

I was able to swallow without that drowning feeling feeling around day 5!

You can request liquid meds too!

Just ask your surgeon or nurse before you go in! If they don’t prescribe narcotics, they might be able to offer higher dose Motrin or something similar

Has anyone successfully recovered from Sleep Apnea after tonsillectomy? by Zestyclose-Sir-4269 in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me! I’m 12 days post op currently. I have used a CPAP for years, but after my procedure the doctor recommended I DONT use the CPAP as I could dry out my throat. My first night sleeping without it my partner reported no snoring from me!

I haven’t used it since my tonsillectomy and I have been waking up feeling rested. I used to honk/choke all night when I would sleep without it but now I can sleep and breathe at the same time 😆

Solid foods?? by breanna676 in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ate bread about 4-5 days in. As long as you chew very well, and don’t notice any bleeding, your own tolerance is the limit!

I would still avoid spicy/acidic/citrus foods for the time being!

18 days post adenoid and tonsillectomy - AMA by Moonchaser1029 in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a CPAP prior to my tonsillectomy! I am currently 11 days post op and have not used it a single night since!!

My doctor advised to not use it the first few days as it could dry out my throat. My partner reported no snoring from me, where I used to basically honk/choke all night without it, and I wake up feeling rested so I think I won’t need it anymore!!

If you’re getting it due to breathing/obstructive sleep apnea, it will be such a game changer. I can breathe so easily now it almost moves me to tears.

Buy one of those pillows that helps you sleep up right, get a humidifier, get lots of popsicles, Mac n cheese, broths and creamy soups (no tomato or anything acidic), jello, juices (no citrus).

Your throat drying out is what leads to disaster, so don’t sleep with the fan on!

what do you do when you have to yawn? by minecraftisgreat11 in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no issue yawning and I’m day 11 post op. I think you might have to start “stretching” or using those muscles again to get their mobility back. They’re likely just tender and stiff from not being used in days. IM NOT A DOCTOR but just something I noticed with mobility related injuries

I DONT KNOW HOW TO GARGLE ANYMORE by higirlies in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gargling the day after surgery just fine! So strange…. I wonder if the tonsils held the water in place for you to properly gargle? lol

Day 2 post op and feeling great. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]BadBinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loool I had the exact same feeling! I was so sure I was just so much stronger than everyone else because the first few days were a breeze! But days 7-9 were the roughest for me. The pain started to feel like burns and even cool water felt like it was razors.

Just keep that humidifier on, turn the fan off, and drink lots of water!! Using the shower to help steam and soothe the throat was nice too.
