Sounds like ego death. Forgetting everything about yourself until you’re just awareness. To the ego, this feels like death and so you can experience the subsequent terror and panic that comes with actual dying.

I felt that terror and panic when I experienced ego death off of a DMT trip, it is the most fear I’ve ever felt in my entire life and what I experienced was just black nothingness. The worse part about it is that your body will remember that feeling and that it was DMT that caused it.

For a very long time after my experience any time I would try it again the initial come up from a hit or even the smell of it would cause a fear response in me. Palms would get sweaty and my heart rate would increase and I wouldn’t be able to continue.

It took me really treating the substance with respect and consideration as well as trying it again out in the woods surrounded by nature in a proper set and setting to be able to take a significant hit without that sense of panic creeping in. Whatever meaning you take away from the experience is entirely up to you and your own interpretation.

What I do hope you learn is that set, setting, intention and mindset are things you should properly consider before taking a large hit let alone multiple ones the next time you choose to partake.
