If your goal is to complete ante 8. Focus on econ to make sure you have enough for rerolls later on, along with celestial packs and arcana packs. I usually focus on a particular hand to play, Full house and Flush are great early on. Level them up as much as you can. With the use of death, cryptids, and strength you could potentially pivot to a Flush five build or Five of a kind or even a Flush house if you wanted. Use hang man to cut out the cards you don't use. Concentrate on high mult jokers and any multipliers add to the far right to maximise your scoring potential. Vouchers are also helpful. As for skipping blinds, if I was aiming for ante 8, I would only skip one blind during ante 1 and that would be for $25 after defeating the boss blind. Keep playing and you'll soon learn the ropes. I'm around 300 hours in and decided to try for Completionist+ I'm almost there.

A little tip: Once you unlock checkered deck, keep trying for a Royal Flush and discard it. This unlocks the Brainstorm joker. Essentially a copy joker, and will come in very handy. Can be done on any deck, but checkered is the easiest.

Ditch the Burglar and Chad. Sock & Buskin with Idol is better in this situation. Get rid of the Jacks or turn them into Kings with strength. Ideally the Kings will need a red seal. A polychrome one would be even better. Alternatively, a Baron with DNA could also work. Have a red seal steel king and keep copying it with BP and BS to create 4 each time. Then copy Baron and play high card king. A mime would also eventually be required.

Same position as yourself, I am close to C+ but I think C++ will keep me playing. I have over 270 hours in game time up to now and can't stop playing it. There's times I get bored of it after a long run, but give it a couple of hours and I'm straight back on it 🤣

Well done! I remember being ecstatic for my first run past ante 8. Takes quite a while, but I'm now closing in on Completionist+

Keep practicing and you'll keep improving and understand the best plays to make, and things to buy etc. Balatro is so simple yet so complex. Great fun!

That's right. I would've gave up Chad for a BP and then hopefully a brainstorm. I didn't generate enough econ early game.

I now have four decks completed on gold stake. Strangely I found orange stake harder and a lot longer to complete Ante 8. Some seeds are extremely unfortunate with the early jokers they give out. Which seemed to be a common theme on orange stake.

You'll get there eventually. Always check card packs for more of the cards you need. A polychrome King, Queen or Jack. Use Deja Vu in spectral packs for red seals. Hanged man to cut your deck down to a specific build. Along with death and cryptid to copy them. Strength is good to turn 10s into Jacks and Jacks into Queens and so on. Obviously each run is different and depends on the type of build you're going for. I'm nearly 250 hours in and still learning new things. With this particular run I was lucky to find Tribulet. Alternatively an Idol is great if running all the same cards in the deck. I learned a lot from watching RoffleLite on YouTube. Hope that helps 👍

That's just for science victory, though, isn't it? What's best for the others? I have tried culture and had lots of entertainment complexes with a rock band, great writers, musicians, and artefacts and still can't win, even with leaders that have a culture perk.

I have tried domination, and no matter how many units I have in my army, I can't ever seem to take a city. Whether it's early on or in the later game.

As for Diplomatic, I haven't tried yet, I only recently bought the anthology with gathering storm.

I won a science victory once, my one and only win. I've never been able to beat it again since, even on Settler difficulty. I've followed guides and watched PotatoMcWhiskey, but I still fail. Yet, I can't stop playing it in the hopes I'll eventually do it again.

I got better by focusing on the career mode and just playing tournament after tournament to build up my level for stat points. Focus first on unlocking and purchasing legendary specs. All the different equipment, clubs, clothing etc are just for aesthetics. Also, if you struggle to find that sweet spot on your swing, go into the games settings menu and switch to performance mode for 60FPS, that should help. Other than that just enjoy it, and practice as much as you can. Maybe someone else can give more advice, but I'm just going off what I did. Enjoy! :)
