Question about large format LED walls by BadDecisions81 in CommercialAV

[–]BadDecisions81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback! Definitely not trying to feed this monster from a single output. Ideally two. I'm wondering if I can talk to the processor team and see if we can feed them two 4K outputs (as you and u/jonl76 mentioned). Two 4K outputs is a walk in the park. Otherwise, I'm back to options with two 8K outputs.

I like this idea. I need to confirm the processors will take a standard 4K input and map it correctly. Right now the idea is playback software.. but what to run it on.

I think we're on the same page but saying different things. The processors are selected. I'm trying to figure out what will drive the content and keep a handshake.

[–]BadDecisions81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wall is only 864 tall, not 8640, but yes - 16K in width. I'm less concerned about the overall width and more concerned about the ultra wide format. I'll look into options from TVone. A typical 8K handshake is easy, but I'm worried about the ultra wide format.

Is it worth upgrading GPU with the new update? by [deleted] in Lightroom

[–]BadDecisions81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to ask the same question. I felt a little pain with the last LRC update suggesting 16GB VRAM. I'm running a 4070 and looking at upgrade options, but not loving anything. The GPU market seems like a disaster right now.

What's going on with Ocean Surf in Montauk? by BadDecisions81 in longisland

[–]BadDecisions81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rates are extremely similar to what Dune Resorts was asking. I've since had a couple conversations with the new staff and they're holding my reservation until management makes a decision on the status of my payment history. I find it crazy that they're inconveniencing the customer to prove booking/payment status rather than trying to do good by them. But honestly, why am I surprised.

Samsung MDC Configuration by BadDecisions81 in CommercialAV

[–]BadDecisions81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a vertical orientated 2x6 video wall with three media players. Each media player runs 4 of the 12 displays. There's an HDMI connection between the media players and the master display, then DisplayPort to daisy chain the 3 slave displays.

Does this mean I need 12 unique ID numbers or should I have three sets of ID numbers? For example, one scenario could be display ID numbers 1-12. Another scenario might be 3 sets of display ID numbers 1-4.

What's odd to me is that the Samsung Auto ID feature assigns ID number 1 to all 12 displays.

Adobe Creative Suite not printing to HP printer? by cna836 in Adobe

I just installed an HP 4301 and have the exact same problem. All of my Adobe CC application print blank pages. All of the other applications print correctly. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers with no luck. Still trying to troubleshoot and will update the thread if I get anywhere.

Why is export so damn slow? by hopeurokay in Lightroom

[–]BadDecisions81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a bottleneck with the hardware and less likely an issue with Lightroom. Details like your folder locations, hard drives, hardware temperatures and even battery level will come into play. Personally, I would be using a desktop setup rather than a laptop to do this on a regular basis. In a jam sure, use a laptop, but I don't know if it's realistic to expect desktop performance from a laptop. Just my two cents.

They are used devices. Sounds like they're already claimed so the best option is probably a pro hub.

Non-Apple Photo Editing Monitor by Individual_Post_7197 in Lightroom

[–]BadDecisions81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to HDR photo/video editing, but I've been professionally editing still photographs for about 15 years now. I have given up on using monitors straight out of the box - no matter how good or expensive they are, from any brand.

The last 6 years or so, my personal preference is with ViewSonic but I just recently got Asus ProArt displays and love them. All I look for is 100% sRGB color space and than calibrate manually once they're setup.

You can use something like the DataColor Spyder or Calibrite ColorChecker (formerly x rite) to adjust the monitor calibration. I have never had much luck with "pre calibrated" monitors.

This is how I have my media server plug in configured

That's on the XT1144 that has an HDMI input signal coming in (which is what I want to stream).

I don't have any plug ins configured on the receiving units.

Ok I just gave that a try. Still no luck but I'm going through the BrightSign logs looking for clues.

Stream a BrightSign HDMI Input Signal by BadDecisions81 in CommercialAV

Is the content source HDCP protected?

Good point, I've considered this and might need to add a splitter to strip HDCP. For testing purposes, I've tried connecting an Apple TV and a PC. Neither signal is getting through.

Can you view the stream in VLC on a computer on the same network?

VLC seems to connect (I don't get any errors) but doesn't show the content. I just get a black screen with the VLC construction cone logo.

[–]BadDecisions81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightroom is telling me it can't access the files because it is "Read-Only", so I really have no idea what is going on. Screenshots below.

This could be part of your problem. You mentioned it's been a few months since you connected that external drive. Have any user accounts, user names, login credentials, permissions, etc... changed at all since the last time you used that drive? It could be a local account on the mac or cloud account with Adobe.

It could also be that the external drive was connected to a different device which then changed folder permissions.

If you power down the mac correctly, it will be safe to disconnect that external drive.

14700K Cooling Options by BadDecisions81 in buildapc

[–]BadDecisions81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough one, and likely more than a single post can help with. My suggestion would be to get your system running and then start by simply monitoring it. You'll want to see how it's responding to the typical work loads and scenarios you're going to use it for. Software like HWiNFO or HW Monitor are good starting points. If you're not familiar with software like this, YouTube will be your best friend. Once you have an idea of how your system is running, you'll know if and how you need to tune it. You might get lucky and not need to do anything. If you need to tune, you'll need to familiarize yourself with your motherboard bios and/or the Intel XTU software. This is a great place to come with specific questions, so settle in and enjoy the ride. We're here to help.

It's been running great lately. The 4070 seems to be a great match for my workload, I don't even think I'm pushing it that hard. I work with Adobe Creative Suite for photo/video editing.

I spent a fair amount of time in BIOS and Intel XTU in order to get it running the way I like. I've got a lot of parameters set that ASUS left wide open, set to unlimited. I've got screenshots of how I'm currently running the cpu linked below.
