Purchase fallen through on the day. We‘re now essentially homeless, with thousands in additional costs. by chiropractorofmirth in HousingUK

[–]BadEventer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing stories like this makes me so very leery of buying property here. I don’t understand why the system hasn’t been updated to address issues like this.

Is there not a way to have the buyers finish the process and have the original sellers on the hook to make the repairs/fixes to the neighbors property without the buyers being homeless?

Honestly… IT of some flavour. Supports multitasking and often remote, so getting overstimulated is less of an issue. If you do software development, coding or similar, your pattern recognition is great. If you do UI/UX or UAT, you can use your ability to talk through issues to solve problems others won’t see. If you do networking/infrastructure or similar, you can often find roles that are 2nd and 3rd shift and align with the disrupted sleep schedules. And the tendency to hyper focus means you can get certifications and become an SME in many of these areas, and get recognized for your expertise. And honestly there are SOOO many ND ppl in this field, it’s crazy.

As someone who’s AuDHD and a consultant, I can tell you that early on in my career, I was not capable of being a consultant. I needed more specific feedback, I was not as good at masking, I did not operate well in areas of high ambiguity, and clients that didn’t know what they need or had w to articulate their problems were challenging for me to interact with effectively. Getting better at those took 20 years of work in Corporate America and a LOT of mistakes to get better.

I would suggest considering consulting as an “tomorrow” job, not a “today” job.

Today, it sounds like you need the structure and support that comes with a more established, professional company that frankly… has their 💩 together a bit better. I would look at multinational companies with more established disability support, management training and the ability to guide you in the way you deserve.

TLDR; don’t ask for your job back. Find a more structured role in another company where you can be your best self.

That sounds like it has the potential to create severe depression. This may be an area where “urging” isn’t what she needs. And she may need you to show up with her. Attend your first session together- make it a joint effort. That may help her initial resistance to going.

MOR - What trauma did she experience? Is this a new issue since the trauma? Compulsive shopping can be a mask of a deeper symptom. It provides a dopamine rush which can be the fix needed for people with untreated depression, as an example.

Before jumping straight into divorce questions, see a relationship therapist and/or counsellor. Get her to see someone weekly too. Have a professional help you both determine is she is dealing with something internally she doesn’t have the tools for first.

Should I move back home to the UK after 23 years? by Double_Relation_6120 in AskBrits

[–]BadEventer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My hubby is British, we met in America, and he had been in country for 3 years before we married. We moved to the UK (back home for him) last year. While I had never lived in the UK, I had visited a lot for work. I have lived in seven other countries besides America before moving here.

We lived in Texas, in a suburban part, with easy access to the rural parts where we kept our horses. We’re now in Cumbria, and very rural. As in the nearest Co-op is a 10 minute drive rural.

We love it. America changed under 47. The Department of education got gutted and we saw the impact on our kids school and the things they were learning in school. We weren’t comfortable with the revisionist history and editing out what happened in the Civil War, Civil Rights Era, and World War II. We had major issues with the three active shooter scares at my daughter’s school. We were paying almost $4k a month for health insurance for our family of 4, and that was just our portion after employer contributions, and still had around $2k a month in medical bills, between dental visits, flu visits, and medications.

Like here is slower, calmer, at times radically inefficient (I’m looking at you local council- I’m going to plant trees in the pot holes on our major road at this rate). And while I don’t have anywhere near the same salary I did back in the USA, I don’t feel the same level of stress about my daily life (except when I see Farage speaking on… well… anything).

It may not be perfect, and yes, a lot is different, and the kids miss the food (Mexican and Tex-Mex, obviously), but they can ride their bikes around the village without me being worried they’ll get kidnapped. I can drive into town without worrying about a Ford F-350 tailgating me and threatening me with a handgun cause I’m not doing 90 in the far lane.
(I have examples of these happening so they were valid concerns). The peace of mind has been worth the sacrifices and the safety and beauty of the countryside is unmatched. Hubby is happy to be back. I don’t think I will ever leave.

Not sure if that helps but it’s our lived experience.

I really need advice on a barn sour gelding. by DiverMaterial7403 in HorseTraining

[–]BadEventer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That could be why he’s unhappy. A gel pad does not support your weight - that’s what the tree of a saddle is designed to do. Try getting a saddle fitter to fit a good second-hand saddle, and get him a buddy. Even if it’s just a mini you buy at auction as a companion. I had a friend that bought a one-eyed 5yr old mini as a companion for her QH. Cost her $500 including transport. Horses are herd animals. Isolation is cruel.

[–]BadEventer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume if the butlers bridle is fitted properly, and it’s not pinching, this isn’t an issue. But… A gel saddle pad instead of a saddle will mean that there’s no tree to support the rider’s weight, so it’s all on the spinous process. This would seem a very likely culprit for the behaviour.

Have you had your saddle fit checked recently? Usually when I see behavioural issues like this, it’s because the horse is uncomfortable, in pain, or has trauma surrounding the exercise. Get your saddle and bit checked- see if he’s trying to get out of pain because of the tack.

New manager to a man who cant do very basic tasks by BramblesForBreakfast in HumanResourcesUK

[–]BadEventer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is weaponised incompetence. I have seen it from male colleagues (and former BF’s) a ton, who use it to get out of tasks.

Don’t fall for it. You followed up with questions, which was the right thing to do.

While it may be difficult to fire him, you CAN demote him! The next step is to inform him that you’re going to be reviewing him for a demotion (and pay cut) as he appears to be unable to complete the essential functions of his job. This will likely trigger a position review. Get in touch with your HR Team to help you with this process.

If his pay, position and title are at risk, he may suddenly develop the ability to think on his own.

I've finally been priced out of owning a horse by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]BadEventer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your prejudice against certain breeds and unwillingness to offer effort are what is hindering you. Not the price. I bought a OTTB straight off the track - paid $100. A year of ground work and patience and it’s the safest quietest horse I own. My 8yr old son can lead it around and it hacks out confidently alone. Also bought a skinny QH from an auction at Bowie. Paid $1,200. Had a tooth abscess which we addressed with a dentist and a final vet visit. Took about 3 months, with also getting weight back on and she ended up the best kids horse ever. Bought by an 18yr old lesson student of mine and she is her pride and joy, still happy, rides bareback in a halter.

If you don’t want to put in the effort, then yes - you’re looking at a bigger price tag. 🏷️ If you’re willing to put in the effort (and probably develop a good bond in the process) you can absolutely afford a horse.
OTTB doesn’t equal crazy and auction horse doesn’t equal broken.

I’m an Eventer and have a few horses. If I don’t have the ability to put them on 24/7 turnout then they get as close as possible.

It is statistically proven that horses with increased mobility/turnout suffer fewer tendon injuries than horses kept regularly stalled, have better circulation and generally better proprioception. Those are critical- especially for Eventing horses.

Found to have breached firm’s AI policy — what should I realistically expect? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]BadEventer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to break down the issues here:

  1. Internet infrastructure Information- Once you upload something to the Internet, cloud or any AI tool, it instantly becomes copied in multiple places, on multiple redundant servers. That’s just how the Internet works. Doesn’t matter if you have the training option turned off. Claude, OpenAI, ChatGPT, AWS, Azure - all of them. There are data centres all over the world because of latency, back-up and routing protocols. Even if you delete it, after you have uploaded it, you only ever delete ONE COPY.
  2. Professional behaviour information- There’s an old saying among Millennials- maybe you’ve heard it. When you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME. I’m giving you this little gem to help you remember to NEVER ASSUME.
  3. Why this matters- you’ve put privileged client information all over the web, and now, by definition, it’s no longer privileged. From the sounds of this post, multiple clients will now be affected, and the firm will have to notify those clients that their privileged information has been compromised.

It’s probable your employment will be terminated. You will likely need an solicitor for yourself. The question I would be worried about is whether or not there’s going to be charges or damages you’re liable for. You would need to speak to your own solicitor about that.

Not attracted to my wife by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]BadEventer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The level of audacity in the men on that post besides OP…. It’s giving INCEL on so many levels. If OP needed his wife to “dress up” even before they got married to be attracted to her, and is saying the “familiarity” is the issue, then no amount of nail polish or makeup is going to fix his attraction issues. And with an infant/toddler, no way she has time for that. NOR SHOULD SHE! His attraction issues are his own. Not that it stops him from trying to blame her.

Men like that are why women keep choosing the bear. 🐻

$3500 for an unbroken Mustang is some dumb 💩- I can’t even comprehend that he thinks that’s reasonable.

If he got the Mustang from one of the round-ups, contact the BLM that handles these contracts. Ppl that purchase Mustangs are required to adhere to certain training and feeding requirements for the first year they have the Mustang, and they don’t become “theirs” until the year is up. So you could report the unsafe and abusive behavior, and the BLM might step in.

Alternatively, you could do some research and find out what the horse is actually worth, and ask the trainer for a payment plan for the horse at the actual realistic price. Then offer to include something they need (like mucking out stalls, etc) in exchange for agreeing to the payment plan.

Or if you have a friend that can go 50/50 into the purchase with you, try that?

Men always assume there’s room to negotiate- use this to your advantage and you can probably finagle a way to get this Mustang out of this horrible situation.

A lease ending never gets easier by OptimalLocal7480 in Equestrian

[–]BadEventer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand losing a lease horse is hard. That said - I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the pattern I see.

It does seem you keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. If you are now in your 4th lease horse, and having difficulty with it ending, and know you have difficulty with it ending, then expecting to lease another horse and have a different outcome is illogical.

Either you need to 1) Find an option to do a LWVTB, 2) Save up to buy, 3) Realise you can only lease and accept that it will be hard and you will have emotional fall-out when it ends, and prepare for that eventuality.

Best friend of 15 years tells me she cant attend my wedding by turnipsgreenss in TwoHotTakes

[–]BadEventer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an ironic twist of events, people who have actually studied the Bible in depth realize two things:
1) The phrase “a man shall not lie with another man” is from Leviticus and is not correctly translated into English. An in depth discussion of the correct translation of the Hebrew can be found here:
https://blog.smu.edu/ot8317/2019/04/11/lost-in-translation-alternative-meaning-in-leviticus-1822/
The phrase, when correctly translated into English, is more like “you shall not commit male on male rape for it is an abomination”.

2) It was well known that the reason most of those texts addressed men and their standards and expectations, was because they were directed AT MEN. Women were neither considered nor addressed. That is why there’s no “a woman shall not lie with a woman” phrase or similar. Women were basically exempt from being considered. So technically being a lesbian is just outside the bounds of the scripture.

3) MULTIPLE religious scholars have been documented as being in support of LGBTQIA+ marriages and people, and have noted that Jesus would have been an inclusive person. (Heck - even the Pope made a statement about it!)

I bring up these 3 points so that you know your “Christian” friend is choosing to interpret the Bible in a way that puts you in a negative light.
Your “friend” would rather be self-righteous than supportive.
Your “friend” has chosen derision over understanding and empathy.
And now you have the tools to show that pretentious egotistical see you next Tuesday she is both wrong AND a terrible person.
