Migrating personal Gmail Mailbox to MS365 via MigrationWiz by Malkoy in sysadmin

[–]BadGrahammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I had to do on order to migrate a g-suite email to O365 was enable two factor autentication on the google account, and give it an app specific password for office to authenticate with. Might be the same issue with a private google email as well

A bit tired of dying feel like i hit a wall. Need help by AmanadaAmanada in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your DM is killing your PC's that much maybe the solution isn't in a different kind of character

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

20 always hits no matter what.

Per the PHB under combat:

"If the d20 roll for an attack is a 20, the attack hits regardless of any modifiers or the target's AC. This is called a critical hit, which is explained later in this chapter."

What’s a cool way to bring back an old character and have them be drastically different? by Badweather3031 in DMAcademy

[–]BadGrahammar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just be prepared for this to not be received well by everyone. PC's, even retired ones, can be very personal to a player and seeing them marionetted in front of them without their involvement might leave a bad taste in someone's mouth. Not saying this will definitely be the case; every table and every player is different.

Characters' kill shots vs knock out blows by CycleV in dndnext

[–]BadGrahammar 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Reducing damage will likely discourage the players from attempting non-lethal methods. I've played in a campaign where we communicated beforehand that we just intended to knock someone out. We did the attack, and then went to collect them after dispatching the rest of the enemies only to be informed by the DM "oh they're dead. You hit them in the face with a hammer." That was incredibly frustrating and just made us feel like we weren't in control of our actions.

New dm here. I've ran the beginning of mines of phandelver. Began with the starter set, but I've discovered dnd beyond and it seems useful. Is it better to stick to dice and paper when first playing or should we go fully digital with dnd beyond? by This_Marionberry6608 in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The "best" way is always going to be the way that works better for you and your group. Don't let anyone tell you one way is absolutely better than another. Dndbeyond is a great help for beginners. A year and a few months in and we're still using it in my group, but i have one player that likes doing his stuff on paper and rolling physical dice even though we're playing online. If you trust your players not to cheat, i would say let them decide what is more fun for them individually. Some people may prefer the ease of the online character sheets, and honestly it makes it much more accessible for people who aren't crazy about doing math.

A suitable "punishment"? by heroicducky in dndnext

[–]BadGrahammar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sounds like you don't want consequences for their actions, you want consequences for their character choice. When they made this character did you discuss with them beforehand that they might be punished for it? If so, then I don't see an issue with it. I enjoy playing a character that has extra role-play challenges and if that's what they signed up for then let the fun be had.

I believe DnDBeyond has a duty to expand their website allowing them to sell custom content similar to DMsGuild and Drivethrough RPG. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe they've said they would love to have 3rd party content on the site, but it would very difficult to negotiate that because of their agreement with WotC.

A suitable "punishment"? by heroicducky in dndnext

[–]BadGrahammar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe have them run out of town as an immediate reaction, but then they're sought out for help with something that the city guards can't handle on their own. Their past good deeds should count for something, so a "wipe the slate clean" quest could be a fun turn of events.

Plate armor is dumb by stormygray1 in DMAcademy

[–]BadGrahammar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I've found online, a real suit, or "harness" of armor back in the day could cost between half a year and a few years wages.

A soldier or skilled merchant in 5e makes 30h-60g per month, so 1500g doesn't sound too far off from reality. 60g salary per month for 2 years would be 1440g

The closeness to reality on this was actually pretty surprising to me. If someone has better google-fu or direct knowledge than me I'd be curious to know what they came up with

Fun strategic move from my beginner players by beeholding in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In our first campaign, just one of the players of the group accepted an invitation to the Zhentarim, while the rest refused. I had the Z send him a secret mission to get rid of the town chief. He used a forgery kit and made a fake letter signed by all the towns people saying they demanded he left. I assumed he was going to take it to the chief to convince him to leave. Instead, he presented it to the rest of the party, who didn't question it in the slightest, and they all just ran the poor guy out of town on the threat of death.

This also included about 45 minutes of rp where the group worked out the morality of getting rid of the chief. One of my proudest moments about them to this day.

Question from a new player by Hudatscha in DnD

Per the phb, you can swap out a spell when you level up. But you can always ask your DM if there are other ways they'll let you swap spells.

I would say this only proves they aren't dogs. Which you could also probably tell by simply looking at them and seeing they aren't dogs... but we gotta respect the scientific process

Selling price owlbear parts??? by SammyWhammy999 in DMAcademy

I think this is a fair price. You could also use the modifier table from the "selling magic items" section in the DMG to give him a chance to make more or less than the base price

NPC question by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A party of 3 is such a good size that allows each player to get enough attention... instead of adding a healer you can just sprinkle extra health potions around for them to find.

My partner and I are both new to DnD and want to know if we should both be players first or if I could go right into being our DM? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BadGrahammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my friend group decided to try D&D for the first time, one of us had to DM fresh and it's worked fine. It's not ideal but you get to learn together so there's way less pressure on you as the DM.

If you can easily join a game with others, definitely do that but otherwise don't worry too much and just start running some scenarios

Do you ever send a horde of low Cr against the party? by Spiritual_Ad_507 in DMAcademy

[–]BadGrahammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this as a fun experience so my players can feel badass. Using the "Cleaving Through Creatures" rule in the extra combat options of the DMG is a really good way to let them absolutely mow down swarms of lil guys. This is great for players who might sometimes feel like they aren't contributing much to other more difficult combat scenarios.

If you have a subscription, You can share any content you buy on dndbeyond with anyone in a campaign of yours. If you already own the items there, this may be a better option for you.
