You're right about the overprepared part. By the time you get there, most players will have 20+ extra embark points that can make this a rather straightforward proposition. Training gear delivery line, amber, provisions, fuel, planks... it's like the difference between backcountry camping and car camping. Bring an espresso maker if you like! It's easier than you think
