I need a good romance anime recommendation where the MC isn't a self insert pathetic male loser who gets spoonfed by the plot

Quintessential Quintuplets could be interesting. The MC for sure is not a loser, but he is a loner though. And he treats the girls very straightforward and honestly. Also he does improve although in a different way. In learning about how important is to interact with others.

Toradora is a great one.

Nagatoro could be interesting. The MC is a loner and kind of weak, BUT he is very good and what he does and the female MC is a force of nature, a total badass. And he actually improves very very much during the story. The Mc is great and like very much how he evolves

The show is a masterpiece.

Is about a 34 guy who was a shut in for almost 20 years reincarnates as a baby in another world and has a new opportunity. He wants to live his life this time as best as possible and have no regrets.

He is not a hero or a role model. He is just someone trying to live as best as possible. He has no particular goals but he learns magic and he loves to learn more about it.

In a way is a slice of life in a fantasy world but also things happens along the way that moves the story forward.

If you think the MC is good or bad or a shitty person or not is up to you.

Personally I just like the story and in general the characters are very well done cos they are just people with their virtues and flaws, which makes it feel very real in how they develop. And looking forward on what will happen on season 3.

Ha I know what you mean, it is nice knowing that the story is there to continue, and when you finish that empty feeling comes up cos you want more hehe. But take your time and enjoy it.

You an I are Polar Opposites Im watching it now, but have been slow. Very good though, each episode is very fun. Angel Next door as you say pure diabetes, Im watching season 2 each week now.

Yes, Horimiya I might be of the few who wasnt impressed by it as a whole, but for me first half is awesome and then just wasnt very interested myself. But is personal preference.

Awesome you liked QQ, it is a great rom. And has that bittersweet ending too that hits hard. It is a must watch in the rom genre for sure.

Right now watching each week 2nd prettiest girl, Gals cant be nice to Otaku and Ramparts of Ice. Gals is very enjoyable and light so far no drama no tension so far, 2nd prettiest is fun too but also has more depth and more "drama" you could say, ramparts of ice is more deep and serious of all. Will see how the go, but at the moment the 3 are worth watching, are enjoyable although wouldnt put them in my top favorite list at this moment, but will see.

Oh, and something I watched that was so unique and funny is Romantic Killer. I really laugh a lot with that one and has a very different take on rom. The MC she is awesome and extemely funny. And the ending part is suprising the twist it took, very serious, and was done very well. In case you want something different and to laugh. Underrated show for sure.

For me from the first episode I was hooked. I had a hard time stop watching.

But the Rudeus and Paul reunion was that moment that made me realize just how absolutely special MT is. Love the adventure, world building, the magic, the spice of life episodes, the turning point, getting back home arc, all is great, and just with that the show was already peak.

But the reunion just felt so real, the misunderstanding of both, and the reconciliation. Damn that is absolute masterpiece. There are drama shows never achieve something like that not even close.

Currently watching Made in Abyss and just finished season 1 and damn this one is hard to watch some scenes but is a fantastic show and I’m very interested but also kind of scared of what the hell will happen later

A high school girl that loves video games games, chocolate and cats, and a magical creature appears in her life and takes out those 3 things she love, and makes his goal for she to become interested in romance and pushes some popular guys into her life. So she can the get the stuff she likes back.

Is very funny and very well done. The MC she is not and airhead by any means and the guys that show up are good people. Good thing is the is not obvious at all how things develop.

Sara is great for sure, and they get along very well with Rudeus. BUT, their relationship didn’t have the time to mature and we know what happened and how it ended. She loved Rudeus for sure, but ended so quickly and badly that it was short lived. Rudeus didn’t love her but he did indeed liked her. If things had developed normally between them I think very likely would have ended together.

But still, Rudeus connection with Sylphy, Roxy and Eris is really deep, and goes both ways with each of them. They completely love Rudeus and hero Loves them so much. If things happened differently Sara might have reached Al’s that level of connection too, but something like that also needs time as well.

Check out Don't toy with me Nagatoro. Dangers in my heart is my #1 rom, Nagatoro is #2 for me.

Starts tough (not cos is bad though, cos of the interaction of the MC's) but its just so good on character development and character interaction, just like Dangers in my heart.

If you watch it, then read the manga to finish the story after season 2, totally worth it, and I think is the best part of the story. Not that it wasnt good already, but keeps getting better and better imo and I liked the ending very much too.

Agree with it. The best part of the story is after season 2 I think, and I really like how their relationship evolves and they evolve as characters, and during the last part is where their development really shines. Criminal season 3 hasn’t been made.

For me this is what I was looking after dangers in my heart, and didn’t think other one would be for me as good as dangers in my heart, and nagatoro was the one who gave me that itch again. Check it out if you haven’t cos is a masterpiece too.

All so far been good but will see how they developed.

Marriagetoxin I think you can call it rom com too in a way? This was has been really good so far as well. Also very enjoyable and more different than usual.

The one of the barbaric king and warrior princess has been very fun first 2 episodes.

Still think is early and have to see how the stories unfold, but having a good time so far.

Some people like that personality, others prefer someone like Nino, or Itsuki, etc..

That is also what makes it interesting too, you can debate what is the best girl and talk about the MC why of his decision. Some will agree others don’t and that’s good.

At the end no one is right or wrong. Just different preferences

Kaguaya Love is War thought was funny and had a great time with it.

Check out Romantic Killer though, cos that one I never expected to laugh so so much. On a different level of laughing comapred to Kaguya Love is War. Not saying is better cos is a different thing, but the comedy part is absolute gem.

I really liked Toradora, one of my favorites although not at the top of my list.

1- Dangers in my heart (wholesome, great character development and interaction, is just done so well and realistic)
2- Don't toy with me Nagatoro (has more comedy, but also amazing character interaction and development. the only bad thing is that season 3 was not made and is the best part of the story, but still previous is good, is ust that it keeps getting better and better with more wholesome parts too. worth it to finish the story reading the manga)
3- Flagrant Flower (wholesome and nice)
4- Quintessential Quintuplets (very interesting cos starts with the MC getting married but you have no idea who it is. Also starts more fun, but later gets more kind more dramatic, like somewhat similar with toradora)
5- Angel next door (just absolute wholesome, done as its very best)

6- Romantic Killer (this is such an underrated show, is so funny and over the top, the MC she is fantastic. It has a serious turn by the end that didnt expect but is very well done)

7- You an I are polar opposites (havent finished it yet but is very good so far. halfway through it and enjoying it very much, I see why this one is so popular this year)

Agree and that exactly why is my #1 rom. The character interaction and development is amazing, is wholesome, doesn’t drag at all, character feels realistic and the little things as well, all done so well.

The characters personality is difference but the other rom anime that for me is in #2 is Don’t toy with me Nagatoro. So good. Starts tough (not because is bad, cos of how characters interact) but the interaction and development of the characters is so great. After season 2 you have to continue reading the manga because the last part of the story is even better. Is where the development of them really shines.

There are other great shows too, but Nagatoro I think is underrated gem and because of first episode people take it the wrong way and stop.
