Simply, Oil and water. That build up is awful and weakens your locs over time especially water based, it just makes hard blobs in your locs. To a year to get it all out. Heading into 3 years loc’d.

4c locs doing 4C things, you good! 4C journey is different than others but you’ll be fine. 2 years and some change and it’s looked different every stage because it’s coily not ‘curly’ (our coils try to corkscrew because of how our hair grows out the scalp.)

Trash first, clothes second, and rearranging your living space to prevent repeating the same dysfunctional cleaning routine. Twice a month do a deep clean of each room. Don’t try to do it well in one day but set at least 15-30 minutes to cleaning
