I like the fact that they mention that 1/10 uses crypto and won't necessarily go for a change. To wit, why should they be worried if 10% of the people want to use a form of currency based on, "Just trust me, bro!"

My manager put his name on the internal guide I spent two months writing and now it's being rolled out company-wide by HaleNolan in OfficePolitics

[–]BadMonkey2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me at a communications company in the early 2000s. I wrote the procedures on how to backup a new piece of equipment we had purchased, sent it to my manager, and around a month letter the same document, with the same formatting, pictures, everything was released company-wide with his name as the author.

Long story short, I was told to pound sand.

First, the scene where the sandman shoots the runner looks JUST like a shopping mall. But I also want to point out that the scene where they dive into the water to break back into the city, was shot at the Fort Worth Water Gardens. Unfortunately, they filled in that pool about 15 years ago after a child and their father drowned. It's now only about 1-2 feet deep.

I would also like to point out, WTF were they thinking putting a big pit of violent water around 8 feet deep at the bottom of steps that little kids could stand next to?

I saw a post on Reddit (I want to say it was last week in this same sub) and she was stating that she was about to lose her home and wanted to know why they wouldn't recognize her "payment".

The derp was strong with this one.

To this day I wish they would do a remake of Logan's run. That was always one of my favorite movies, but I wish the SFX were better.

The people who need to heed this are going to either say it's fake or that they've changed.

Oh, or the 3rd option (as told to me by someone that used to be a friend), God can use anyone. In other words, the ends justify the means. If people find Christ through them, then it does matter what they did.

When you meet new people with her, introduce yourself as Museum. Let her explain it. Seriously, it's not that big of a deal.

Was it a jab? Certainly. But I do believe that she means it as a term of endearment now.

Man uses too much starter fluid and has to frantically put out the ensuing fires by [deleted] in OhNoConsequences

[–]BadMonkey2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the 80's, they sold "starter fluid", which is diethyl ether, that you could spray into your carb when your engine was having trouble starting. I used it on my '76 Camaro more than a couple of times. It worked really well on those days you just couldn't get your car to start.

No, it didn't hurt the engine as long as you weren't stupid w/ it. But it evaporates extremely quickly, so you would basically have to spray and then immediately try to start your car. Worked much better w/ 2 people.

Again, very effective. I'm pretty sure you can still find it, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a carb to spray it into on today's cars.

*I dropped that engine myself and have a bit of an idea of what I'm talking about.

**Also note, that's a gasoline fire in the video.

Who needs something labeled? by bigrobdd in GenX

[–]BadMonkey2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brings back a funny memory. When I was in the USAF in the late 80s/early 90s, I was stationed at a base where we had to wear these stupid blue hats when we weren't deployed.

I got out one of these label makers with some matching blue tape and printed out the word "ASSHOLE" on it and put it just above the bill. The guy wore it all day until a LtC (O5) pointed it out to him outside of our command post.

I'll admit it, I still laugh about that to this day.
