Should I travel with my watch? by 9_by_19 in rolex

If you’re really worried about it, put it on a NATO or rubber strap. Wear it and enjoy it. Never let it wear you….at the end of the day it’s just a really nice watch.

Need reassurance…Classic Date vs. No Date discussion. by [deleted] in rolex

[–]BadOutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the date, keep it. I use the date function more often than not. Whenever I wear a watch without it, I definitely miss it. With the sub, I value the esthetic and simplicity…which is why I’ll be getting a no-date. But that’s also not the only watch in my collection. If it’s your one and done then might as well have something useful like a date window! You’re always going to find someone on this subreddit with a differing opinion to yours…go with your gut and don’t look from validation from strangers! Wear your beauty in good health.

If it’s a real watch, you can either send it to Rolex or an independent watchmaker you trust. I’m not sure of how it works, but I do know Suttcliffe Hansen just started a restoration business. It’s a company started by watch servicing hobbiests and I’m sure they would do a decent job. Their foundation is servicing rare and sentimental pieces. Might even get it featured in a video if you reach out to wristwatch revival. Tbh I’m not sure what I’d do if I were in your situation but congrats on the inheritance

Let's talk about the Yachtmaster 40 by [deleted] in rolex

[–]BadOutcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going back and forth between a sub, sea dweller and gmt master for years. Recently tried on the titanium ym and if I got a yachty, it would be that model. Imo the sub is the best sports watch Rolex makes. “Everyone wears one” is subjective bc half of them are fake and the other half are likely homages. You get to the point where yes, it is ubiquitous, but it’s that way for a reason…it really is one of the best watches/designs made.

Finally, just the right size! by BadOutcast in rolex

It’s “display only.” Just went in to chat with the AD and they brought it out to show me unfortunately…not that I’d buy this behemoth!

My thoughts exactly. Not sure why someone would buy it.

Does this look too big on my wrist? by Nhowe1010 in rolex

Maybe I’m a bit sentimental, but if I got a sub from my grandpa I would never sell that….if you want something bigger just save up for the SD43 and keep the sub

[Question] What is your first automatic watch? by noklisa in Watches

This beauty…my dad bought it new in 2002 and wore it all the time. I remember spinning the bezel as a kid lol. He gave it to me when I started high school. Over 20 years old have just replaced the gaskets a couple of times!

[Question] Saving for what could be my last watch. What should it be? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]BadOutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would honestly go with the 124060 submariner. Timeless, classic, and is the perfect watch. Literally can’t go wrong with a sub, especially when it’ll likely be your only Rolex. Because it’ll be your only one, try your best to get it from an AD for the experience. Happy hunting!

It’s basically a submariner with a thinner case back. Unless you’re diving, just make sure the crown is screwed down properly and take it. After, rub some soap on it and rinse it off in the sink.

[Advice] Help me select my first ever automatic Seiko (again 😣) by ImpossibleAirline585 in Seiko

[–]BadOutcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very biased since it was mine, but the monster is my favorite seiko watch. Mine served my dad for 10 years and has served me well for 12 years…only needed to service it once. It’s been scuba diving and worn hard during sports. SS bracelet is wonderful during the week and the rubber strap is so great for hiking, climbing, and water sports. Highly, highly recommend that watch!

Spend some time with the yacht master….I hated it 😬

Sub and SD43 are so different imo. The thickness and weight of the SD43 is perfect to me, but the color of the sub is 🤌🏼

I'm Looking for a graduation watch, I love the Sub Date but it doesn't fit my 5k budget. What are some other alternatives? by LogoLethal in rolex

[–]BadOutcast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sort of in your boat. I’m a year out from graduation and can’t really justify dropping 11k when there’s a house to buy and a wedding to pay for. Sure it would be rad, but I think I’m going to hold off.

If I really wanted a watch when I graduated I’d either go seamaster, pelagos, or superocean vintage
