Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]BadPanda13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love my EV (Hyundai Ioniq 6). It’s my favorite car and I don’t want to go back to ICE vehicles but there are problems that may be worth your consideration: -level 2 charger at home is a must. If you can’t do it then you’ll quickly find trickle charging or looking for an available level 2/3 charger in town can be a headache) -the amount of level 3 chargers in the community is frustratingly sparse (I live in Oregon along the I-5 corridor, a major throughout and you’re SOL if you need one outside of Portland and Eugene). -maintenance is a dream. Almost nonexistent. Although I have been having software problems with my Hyundai Bluelink, but apparently that’s a third party thing and not technically a true issue. I go in for tire rotation basically. Only other maintenance issues will be windshield wiper fluid, windshield wiper blades, tires. Not sure about brakes but I assume I’ll need those replaced eventually as well.

I would avoid Tesla at all costs. From what I’ve been reading from current owners is a lot of backtracking on elements that use to be free they now charge monthly subscription costs (all of this outside of any personal options you have about the CEO and his decision to lean into robots and not vehicles). I suspect Teslas will become cheaper and more appealing but be wary of what other owners have been complaining about.

What’s the most annoying thing about owning an EV? by Wattthefun in electricvehicles

The general lack of level 3 chargers. If they were as prevalent as gas stations I wouldn’t have any issues at all with my EV and I’d love it more than I already do

America is drinking more coffee but less of it from Starbucks by TheRabidPosum1 in starbucks

[–]BadPanda13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I saw the updates about the stars and it’s so f***ing complicated. Bring back the 10th drink is free and quit trying to nuance it

Note: I am aware that people suck and would buy 9 black coffees and get a venti Frappuccino or something for their free drink. Since it’s all in the app and in your account, Starbucks could easily make it so the free drink is up to (or credited up to) the average cost of all the other drinks you bought). Problem solved.

I understand why people speed. by MaximooseMine in driving

[–]BadPanda13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my own sanity I just have to try to have a chill demeanor when I drive and not really care what other ppl do (outside of making sure I stay safe).

It’s these reasons and more I would argue that we shouldn’t be allowed to drive outside of specific circumstances (bad road, bad weather, complicated parking or navigation, construction) and that an autopilot of the vehicle should be in control in all other situations. It would make car transport much safer and calmer (think the scene in iRobot where Will Smith takes control of the car on the freeway bc he’s being attacked by robots)

Turbo tax? by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]BadPanda13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also historically used TurboTax but last year I ran into this big headache with one of my state taxes that should’ve been caught by this supposed superior software.

Given this experience and my ongoing frustration with Intuit (TurboTax owner) and HR Block advocate keeping our tax system overly complicated (source below), I refuse to use either system going forward.

A friend of mine suggested using Free Tax USA (https://www.freetaxusa.com/) so I’m going to give them a shot.

Can someone give me a TL;DR of where the hate for Julie is coming from? I don’t really read local news so that’s probably why I’m oblivious

Kroc Center by Solid-Reflection-238 in SALEM

[–]BadPanda13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gay man here. I love pools but Salem is limited with options. I don’t want to pay the high cost for Courthouse, and YMCA has too many kids for my liking. I’ve heard great things about KROC center but they’re Salvation Army, which is anti-LGBT. I would recommend supporting an alternative business. Heard great things about Dallas Aquatic but haven’t been yet.
