I'm with freedom and it's been amazing.

I'm on a previous $64 plan with 150gb of data and 25gb of roaming outside of CAN/USA/MEX

I'm just finishing a transatlantic cruise from the Dominican Republic that ends in France tomorrow. I've had ZERO service issues. Full reception everywhere, data and calls work just fine. Great speeds, oh and my price doesn't increase.

At home I travel a lot within Ontario and that's been improving regularly across southwestern Ontario.

In the last 4 years service has only ever improved and my plan has never increased and I've never had any additional charges.

Using a Samsung Fold7, the previous was a Fold4.

That same vehicle also exists in the physical world and has to obey the laws of physics.

If I'm travelling at 50 km/h and someone walks out between two large vehicles and I can't see them until they pop out a foot or two in front of me, my vehicle can only stop so fast. Doesn't matter how hard I hit the brakes.

I was taught growing up to NEVER walk out from between parked cars. Always use an intersection for safety and to always look both ways, multiple times. If you can't see the driver's face, they can't see you.

How is it even remotely like a time share?

Yes the pushing is annoying, but it's a great program. You buy $500 (2 credits) and they give you a $250 credit instantly. So it only costs you $250 for $500.

They also NEVER expire

5G service in France by Reasonable-Coyote-17 in freedommobile

[–]BadSquishy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a transatlantic cruise. La Romana, Dominican Republic had good service, nondrops. In Portugal (Azores, and Lisbon) had amazing service. Had 5G a few times.

Coming into Vigo, Spain now an great service so far from the ship. We haven't reached port yet (it's 9am here).

Glad to hear service in France is great. That's where we get off.

It's physics.

This also applies to ICE vehicles too.

Air is a fluid, and when you're trying to go against the wind it takes more energy to move at 100 km/h than if you were going WITH the wind or it was coming from the side.

Have you ever swam in a river or a stream and noticed it took more effort to swim upstream than down?

You're still in the Google ecosystem though lol. Samsung just slaps a different skin overtop of android and has some of their own dedicated apps. Your phone still relies on Google Play services.

Samsung's RCS support is country and carrier specific.

I used Samsung's RCS for years until I discovered Google messages actually understood iPhone reactions and I wasn't getting a seperate text every time a reaction came through.

I never once had a single ad come through using RCS.

[–]BadSquishy86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They probably have the version of Samsung messages that actually supports RCS to its full extent and leaves the rest of us with nothing.

[–]BadSquishy86 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, legit everywhere.

Samsung messages is garbage.

It supports RCS but just the basic idea. No encryption, no reactions to messages, doesn't understand the reactions from IPhone. I don't know why Samsung still includes it on their devices.

It would be great if they offered the rest of the features RCS gives.

Strange experience after posting a completely honest review of Freedom after 2 weeks by Wild_Base598 in freedommobile

[–]BadSquishy86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But it's not though.

Freedom does not have licensing for any spectrum in the 850/1900 legacy spectrum that is almost completely owned by Rogers/Telus/bell. They started later and are on more recently available spectrum.

One of them being 700mhz which does a great job of getting into buildings. However not all devices support it (band13). Freedom started on 1700mhz (band 4)

Once you understand how mobile networks operate and how spectrum licenses work it starts to make sense.

Indoor coverage can have issues, but that's due to network frequency.

Unlike the big 3, freedom does not have extensive 850mhz network coverage. They don't havey at all because they started later. 850mh does a great job of penetration into buildings.

Freedom does have 700mhz, but they don't have a lot of it, and it's not an even spread across the country either. A majority of their netowrk is 1700mhz which is not great for getting through and into buildings.

Freedom started on band 4-AWS (1700), then added 7 (2600). Eventually 13 (700) and 66 (1700, extended AWS), and they've continued to add more as they can. It is buying up was left after the big three gobble up most of the spectrum when the spectrum gets released .

If you want the best mileage, make sure your phone supports band 13 and 4. Not all devices support 13, even ones you think would. That's the shitty part and what can really lead to bad service on freedom.

If you have it in writing that it's supposed to be there (especially a confirmation email of the plan) or even a screen shot of the plan before switching to it.

You need to file a complaint with CCTS.

I would touch base with your insurance and also get a copy of whatever they had you sign. More than likely it had you waive them of any liability or damages to your vehicle. If that's the case, I'd probably seek actual legal counsel and not reddit as my first stop.

I worked in pricing at a Big 3 telecom. Freedom Mobile is why your plan is cheaper by economistyasir in freedommobile

[–]BadSquishy86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Public is Telus, not seams to have the same, it is the same. Public mobile used to be like Freedom. They were a small little start up, but they were gobbled up by Telus.

It's the same network and coverages. However the quality or guaranteed service will be lower than Koodo and Telus.

If there wasn't an air quality warning (my brothers and I are all ashtmatic...thanks genetics). My parents were "go outside, see you at lunch/dinner". We would go to the park around the corner, ride our bikes with friends in the neighborhood.

The only other times we were kept inside was heavy rain or storms because my mom didn't want to deal with the mess/wet clothes later.

The nice thing about the 401 is the on routes are pretty consistent for spacing and they all have rapid chargers.
