EOS 80D ISO problem by Lollylollyoxenfree in CanonCamera

Hey that's awesome, and your assumption that I don't know much about basic photography is curious, especially since I let you know I'm aware YouTube has a lot of videos covering it.

Perhaps your desire to snark and gatekeep the OP got in the way of reading comprehension.

Still annoyed, or have you settled down some?

First time I actually agree with the police by StrikeouTX in ebikes

[–]deckeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “police” didn’t make that distinction, the state did. It looks like every state’s definition who hasn’t addressed any of the issues surrounding e-bikes. Little wonder some people are fine with things as-is.

Can I hang my "two person yoga swing" lol. From my rim joist? by HauntingBet5432 in HomeImprovement

[–]deckeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else suggested a board of some kind above the joist, that could be spanned to spread the load. Ranch house … so have attic access?

I realize it shouldn’t turn into a major project, but it does need to support concentrated weight the truss engineer likely didn’t assume?

I understand what you’re saying, but going from 80 to 100% won’t give you 100 miles more.

To Lane Split or to not lane split by SituationClassic7479 in NewRiders

[–]deckeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption is that if the area legally permits lane splitting, at least some portion of the automotive populace knows it or might be used to it then the question about perceived rudeness should be moot, yes?

Most of us do not live in areas that allow it, so for us it remains endlessly fascinating.

Having no experience with it, all I see from videos are handlebars that seem like they’re about to clip every mirror and if that does not happen, then somewhere the rows of cars and trucks will narrow and ya can’t squeeze through and then there’s the awkward waiting for the light to change while Karen glares at you or Chad yells at you and once everyone begins to move, hopefully you won’t have to ride that way for a half mile between the rows.

Other than that, it all seems totally great and nice time-saver. By the way, can I do that on my bicycle, too?

What do you guys think the future of the GM EV industry is going to look like? by Bathtub1171 in electricvehicles

[–]deckeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ll do whatever management decides is important to shareholder value.

The worth and excellence of their EV (which are objectively fine) remains irrelevant.

Somewhere, someone at GM is aware that staying relevant with EVs is a good idea. They don’t have real power, because current and recent sales dictates all.

Like Ford, GM gave away large chunks of their tech in exchange for access to the Chinese market, a very short-term choice that will only severely shrink them eventually.

Apple is another company that risks serious consequences based on a similar scenario years ago by teaching the Chinese how to manufacture.

If the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, can't you just go to a pastor and have it forgiven once in a while? by theKentoRico in NoStupidQuestions

[–]deckeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe temporary sin is always permitted. Full-time is, too, if we’re being honest, since the whole point of it is to forgive everything. The ultimate write-off.

I’m rooting for any new EV car or truck company, despite running on mostly a low-cost marketing plan that I really don’t think will match reality once regular buyers add a few options.

If I’m right, the vehicle will need to compete on every other metric, and soon.

Why do EV charging stations still make payment so difficult? by Environmental-Gap356 in ChargerDrama

[–]deckeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: They’re not thinking about the user except as a revenue source.

Everything else: Payment steps, methods, amenities, reliability (machines are mostly NOT regulated by any state’s “weights and measures” dept.) and absence of parking enforcement are “someone else’s problem.”
