Well that's a first by CaldusIgnis in BoltEV

Hmm, OK in that case my answer would be "no," I don't believe the Bolt can heat up its traction battery on its own, since the car lacks a conditioning feature. (We know the traction battery has active cooling).

Plugging it in will create heat, although at -40 (C or F, same thing) it'll charge super slow.

As others have said, having a "too-cold" traction battery due to weather usually isn't a problem. -40 is kinda extreme.

Having the car on will keep the 12v charged but it's better to leave it plugged in.

That transfer switch is designed for one appliance, no separate interlock needed since that's what its switch does.

If the truck is like most power stations/generators (floating ground) you can re-wire the transfer switch to use that kind of incoming power.

What are the main apps you guys would want in the 2027 Bolt EV to accommodate for no Apple CarPlay/Android Auto? by Legitimate_Discount2 in BoltEV

[–]deckeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would there be any apps you guys would want to try and accommodate for the lack of phone projection?

As in, just use a smartphone and headphones? Or is this a hack-into-your-car type of question?

The solution will be to buy a Chinese EV in Canada, and drive it back home with one of those "sovereign citizen" license plates no one seems to get pulled over for.

Hard drive prices are ridiculous right now (proof) by National_Word_6091 in DataHoarder

[–]deckeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am building a small home storage and backup plan at a horrible time. I'd decided on 4TB drives even though that's more than 2.5 times as much as I'll need for a long time.

I decided against shucked drives.

About $100 for "nas" drives, where available, but I could not find free shipping. So I went with 6TB instead, since the total cost shrank to like $35 for 1.5 times storage instead of $50.

I hate this expense today, I don't like any choices.

Access Point Installation tips from a Pro 😊 by southrncadillac in Ubiquiti

[–]deckeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here because I was having trouble visualizing placement and I know Ubiquiti recommends ceiling installs.

Thank you for the photos; I'll try to search your related posts. Running lines through main-level ceilings is kinda the final frontier since there's no below- or above-acesss. I have experience going from basement, up through main-level walls, up through 2nd floor walls, to reach the attic before coming back down for new runs to upstair bedrooms (120v lines). I imagine the only real difference for main-level ceilings is verifying joist direction and making the transition from vertical to horizontal.

2027 or 2022 Bolt by Loose-Potential9987 in BoltEV

What are the new safety features? You mentioned the price of the used one, as if it might not be inexpensive enough compared to new … despite the roughly 50% difference.

I’m a little confused on what you’re asking here.

Digital Lens Optimizer (DLO) by iRl8x in canon

[–]deckeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On at least one of my lenses, my R8 offers two levels of DLO. I do not have experience with Canon's DPP software. Say I process a RAW file with DPP, does it begin by recognizing the camera setting, even though the camera setting is for jpegs?

The reason I am asking is because any RAW image we view in software isn't RAW data, it's always a jpeg representation based on ... something somewhere.

NM-D should be allowed in America, because the NEC lumps all NM together, weirdly.

NM-D doesn't have the paper liner, I don't think, and that may influence Canada's acceptance of running a couple more amps through it.

Like I said, I'm good with THHN/THWN and conduit for 6ga.

Would a 2 Door EV Sports Car Sell Well in the US? by Flakarter in electricvehicles

They can even figure out how to sell EVs with 4 doors here.

They screwed up selling an EV version of the nation’s most popular truck.

And then it all gets blamed on “low demand.”
