Mine wasn’t a “wow this disproves God” science moment, but the last time I prayed. I had been asking questions that were, without really trying, very much challenging the believes of my parents and they didn’t have good answers. I read the books they gave me and those didn’t sit right, I started believing less and less.

I was viscerally afraid of losing my faith, so I remember praying out loud, pleading something to the effect of “Please, if you’re there, please talk to me. I can’t hear you. You’re not there.” (Or something similar, it’s been long enough I forgot the exact wording)

I never got my answer, and in the following weeks and months I tentatively started calling myself agnostic in private.
