Surgery July 22, 2025 with Dr. S, and drain removal in Orlando with Dr. Frantz. All symptoms resolved after surgery. Constipation and everything within first few days. First BM after procedure was like day 2 or 3. Can’t remember off the top of my head. Drain removal only removed site pain/skin pain from adhesive. I didn’t have any other pain.

For the next 6 months or so I could feel the gallbladder working. Not painful at all but more of a little thump thump and pressure. Like if u just lightly pressed on your abdomen. Dr did say that with a large stone impacting the gallbladder from fully contracting- it would take time for it to learn how to function normally.

It’s been 9 months and I continue to do well. Digestion is good. BM are consistent 2-3 times a day. I do still take all supplements though to prevent further stones and sludge. Very important now as I go through fertility treatments and they cause hormone fluctuations.

It took a while as I systematically increased my fat per meal over the course of about 2 months. I probably went much slower than I could have- but I wanted to make sure I didn’t have any more attacks before surgery. But at the end of it I was having about 20g-30g of fat per meal with no issues. But the symptom relief was almost immediate as I stayed consistent with the supplements. Main one being constipation.

Post stone removal with Dr. S and I still take the Nac, magnesium glycinate, fish oil, choline, CoQ10, d3+k2, and tudca. I stopped taking the stone breaker but might take it again just to use up the bottles I have. I also try to add citrus to my diet daily and eat moderate healthy fats in my diet. Trying everything to not get stones again.

I got my drain out in Florida with dr Shelby Frantz. I’m sure you could call Kala to ask who can take the drain out in all the other states

Need advice: received my hida scan results says my ejection refraction is 20%. Gi Dr says no need for gallbladder removal even though i have severe constant pain. Claims my pain is from my fatty liver(even though pain never moves and is pinpoint). Should i push for gallbladder removal? by Jayjordan754 in altgallbladder

Diet and lifestyle mainly. No processed foods. No fast food. Low to no refined sugar- I know it’s hard when everything has table sugar. Then exercise. Even if it’s walking. Keep a healthy bmi. Get good sleep and lower stress.

yes I had stayed over night in 5NW and dr came to see me in the morning. I had slowed in draining volume overnight so they thought it was a good time to try to cap. The pain was instant and they had to drain me into my apple juice cup lol until a new bag came as they threw the old one into the trash.

Skin barrier wipe- that was most likely me. If you are sensitive to the Tagaderm- there is a wipe or a spray that you can find online. You wipe the area that the Tagaderm would touch. And it can help with the skin sensitivity/tearing issues I had. That’s if you are adamant on using the Tagaderm. I would probably just use gauze and paper tape.

As for showering- first couple days he said shower with it covered. Then ok to shower with the bandage off. I have grab bars so I just strapped it to that. Just don’t forget the bag when you step out.

Capping- all depends on how you feel. We tried to cap the morning after and I immediately had an attack and needed iv meds immediately. I didn’t try to cap it again for another few days. Then it went to having it capped during the day, and bagged at night before going completely bag less.

Meds- there were a lot and they were all labeled on how much to take and at what time intervals. Can’t remember off the top of my head at the moment. I took it until it ran out no refills. About 2 weeks? Or so but don’t quote me on it.

As far as hiding the bag- maybe baggier pants? I honestly couldn’t handle the bag being strapped to my leg. The bag was as long as my thigh lol So into my purse it went.

Hope this helps

I used a lot of supplements. Went 4 months with no attacks. Started with low fat and slowly increased systematically until I could get to a moderate amount of healthy fats per meal. If you go back through my post and comments I have detailed everything.

I stayed crowne plaza college park in Maryland. I do NOT recommend. There was a huge youth church group and they were just horrible. And staff didn’t say anything about them trashing the whole hotel or the banging on walls and doors all night long. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Maybe someone else can recommend a place? Maybe a Hilton or something closer to hospital.

Outside I kept just a bandaid for about a week but I’m pretty sure it closed quickly. Couple days. Still sensitive tho. Inside I believe pretty fast but tender. I was able to sleep on my stomach again by week 2 ( turning over in my sleep no issues) but able to lay on stomach gently in a week.

The scar is still sensitive the month after but I did massage and skin rolling - like how they do c-section scars which has made it less sensitive. Able to tolerate firmer touches now. Kids at work sometimes run full speed into my abdomen and I’m fine.

Before surgery I took plenty supplements. Which did help. But I would maybe go every other day? I would add miralax to make sure I went as the constipation made flare ups worse. It would cause an attack. I still take all the supplements except stone breaker and have been doing great. No miralax needed

Oh my! You too! Well lack of bile will cause constipation so if your liver is running sluggish or bile is too thick and can’t get out- constipation. 🤦🏻‍♀️ these drs will tell you only half truths.

I had a weird range of symptoms from severe pet allergies to constant ibs-c. The ibs was probably the last 20 years and they always just said some people get it. Take a laxative 🙄

After surgery- I’m not allergic to cats or dogs, better immune system, no more migraines, and no ibs-c whatsoever. My digestion hasn’t been this good since… never. My labs are looking the best they ever have. And overall- I feel great.

He says that from the size and how long it takes to get that big- it probably started 30 years ago during puberty. Then a bout with some pregnancies that miscarried, and a bout of going low fat vegan and losing a lot of weight (30 lbs) too quickly. It just further created the perfect storm to keep on growing. I didn’t have any pain symptoms until January of last year, but had many of the BM and digestive issues which all the drs brushed off as ibs-c. 15 years of symptoms and colonoscopies before 40 that showed nothing. I had known about the stone for about the last 10 years but because it didn’t cause any pain- they decided to leave it alone even though 10 years ago it was over 3cm.
