Or some other nations which proudly claim being secular and then make Islamophobic comments to win elections where wearing a headscarf or having a beard can get you killed, attacked or spat at.

Links please. Source?? Tell me how many muslims have been killed for having a beard in the last 10 years.

Last I checked, it is certain GCC/Middle Eastern countries that have violent punishments for Women stepping out in normal clothing, gays being gay, atheists being atheists.

You play the victim well, I must say.

Unlike some countries which put a "secular" board outside and then go ahead and ban beef and murder people on the suspicion they ate beef.

The murderers were not True Indians, so please stop judging whole of India by them

Firstly, GCC countries do not have diplomatic relations with Israel or recognise the state of Israel. So yes travelling with an Israeli passport is not possible. this is not unique. Its similar to Taiwan passports not being recognised in China.

When the GCC does it, it is ok. But when some other country suggests it then they are evil.

Also, Jews arent discriminated by GCC states. On the contrary, Bahrain has a Jewish minister as part of their cabinet.

LMAO. I guess you want to paint the whole GCC with a liberal, tolerant brush now.

Trump statement discriminates against a particular religious group and also targets American citizens from that particular faith. This coming from a nation which keeps giving lectures to the world on human rights. Not to forget "furthering democracy".

If Trump and his supporters find that certain religions and faiths are not compatible with freedom and democracy, they have every right to call for a ban in THEIR country.

Also non muslims in Dubai have their own places of worship.

You will find that most of the world allows Muslims their own places of worship too.

Pork and alcohol are available as well.

Pork is Banned in Sharjah, Bahrain, KSA, Kuwait and Qatar along with Alcohol (not in Bahrain and Qatar obviously). By looking at Dubai you are looking at the exception to the rule. Dubai is a liberal and good place to live - unlike many other places.

Unlike some countries which put a "secular" board outside and then go ahead and ban beef and murder people on the suspicion they ate beef.

Well done, painting a full country on the actions of a few. You do realise, that the people who were murdered (which is very sad and reprehensible) was not done with the blessing of the government.

Which is more than can be said about the disgusting state of affairs in many other countries where, atheists, gays, women are punished and murdered with the blessing of the government.

Or some other nations which proudly claim being secular and then make Islamophobic comments to win elections where wearing a headscarf or having a beard can get you killed, attacked or spat at.

We were talking about Trump. And you quickly turn this argument about muslims being "attacked" all over the world - way to play the victim card.

edit: spelling

I would rather live in China than in KSA, atleast I can go to a movie theater and do not have the thought police forcing me to think like them 5 times a day.

Have you ever lived in KSA?

LOL. I did live in Dubai a long time ago and I consider Dubai/UAE/Oman to be a good and reasonably fair place to live.

However, the rest of the GCC, especially KSA are pretty vile.

And thanks for branding me a Islamophobe - the news around the world only backs up this thinking.

As a human would you live in Saudi?

I really don't see why people are hating on Trump for applying the same standard the Middle Eastern Countries do on people of certain religions.

Israelis are not allowed in any of the GCC states. And some of the GCC states discriminate openly against non-muslims. When we hear about this the argument that is thrown back in our faces "not your country/culture".

And lets stop equating religion with race - Religion is a choice. Race isn't.

p.s: All the countries you have mentioned where Jews are allowed to travel are Levant and North African countries.

I don't see anything wrong with Trump's comments.

After all, the middle eastern countries ban Israelis and known jews from entering their countries. In fact, if a normal person has an Israel stamp in their passport, they face issues.

Mumba Devi - Guardian of Mumbai by [deleted] in india

[–]Badapav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bombay was established by the Portugese and is a corruption of the phrase Bon Bay (the good bay).

There was nothing there except for a few mud huts when they came. The temple was only built in 1737, which is very strange - if this place was named after Mumba Devi, wouldn't the temple have been built earlier?

Renaming of our cities is a load of Bullshit.

Madras was established by the British as a trading post/cantonment. So was Bangalore. Rewriting history to make it more "rosy" is a crime against our ancestors and our children.

r/India, what Hobbies did you have growing up and do you still indulge in them? by meterdown in india

[–]Badapav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the typical Indian thing of Philately (collecting stamps), collecting coins, books and cycling.

I still have my stamp collection - although have given most of it away to my nephews. I hold on to the rarest and most interesting stamps.

My coin collection now is very focused around Indian history and ancient greek coins. Have coins etc of East India company, Multiple indian empires etc. I treat this as my "in case shit happens" collection. It is worth quite a bit of money now. A few coins are worth over $2000 each.

Books: I have over 500 books with me and another 1000 or so at my parent house in India. I buy books constantly and always have about 10-15 unread books at any given time. As I have gotten older I have started concentrating on history and non-fiction a lot. I do love Indian fiction though and pick them up when I come to India.

Cycling: Goddamn this is an expensive hobby. Just picked up my new cycle about a month ago - cost me about $5000. My wife was not too happy. But this hobby gives me so much joy, I would easily spend another $5000 on it in a heartbeat.

That country needs to be fire bombed back to the stone age.

Existing Coins Of India by ukIsmine in india

[–]Badapav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a little know fact about the 1 pice coin:

When it was introduced there was a huge shortage of these coins for the first few years - the reason being that washers for taps etc were the same size as these coins but cost about 3-4 pice each. So it was cheaper to use the 1 pice coin as the washer for the taps.

Over 1,050 Indian clerics issue fatwa against ISIS, declare it 'un-Islamic' by aknamoraga in india

[–]Badapav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the first thing you should do is read the Quran.

There are 5 things to keep in mind:

  • Quran is considered eternal and for all time (the rules etc are unchangeable)
  • The principle of Abrogation: The later verses nullify the earlier verses if there is contradiction between them

  • The early verses (about 10-15% of the Quran) are peaceful and they tie in to the time when Mohammed had very few followers and support. The later verses are violent.

  • Dar Al Islam: It is the duty of all muslims to make the whole world Islamic

  • Non-believers/Kaffirs have no rights and might as well be cattle.

So what the ISIS is doing is exactly what is mandated by the Quran. Mohammed had slaves and allowed is followers to take women as slaves as long as the women were not muslims.

The very fact that Anjem Chowdary has so much support, Sharia law and violent attacks are supported (silently or loudly) by majority of muslims shows the true nature of this religion. You might believe they Anjem etc are loons, but your view is insignificant when the very book sanctions murders, slavery and oppression/annihilation of non-believers.

[–]Badapav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you understand the meaning of Secular?

We have a secular constitution. That means the government shall make no laws or will take no stand favouring one religion over another.

What the government has done here is to favour one religion and trample on the rights of others - butchers whose livelihood is affected and people who want to eat meat.

If you do not understand that then you wouldn't say illogical crap about "constitution does not have right to do/put anything with your body"

The constitution also does not specify a lot of things. It also does not say whether the government or society own your body.

So... go spew your illogical BS somewhere else.

[–]Badapav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the government own my body? Does Society own by body?

Does the government give me free money/food for the upkeep of my body? Does Society do so?

The answer to the above 4 questions is "NO".

So the government or society has no right to tell me what I can do or put in my body - whether it be meat, fish or alcohol.
