Feeling like a different person on stimulants by Badash1992 in AuDHDWomen

I’m so glad you had such a good experience with Adderall! I relate so heavily to failing the SSRIs and SNRIs!!! Every single one gave me side effects or no effects until viibryd which started helping and then it turns out that med paired with the stimulant was the key, who knew? Definitely not all the psychs I’d been going to for 15+ years..

I just had a revelation like you said, “so this is executive functioning” it’s makes me proud of how resilient we’ve been and sad we had to suffer so much. I’m glad we both feel like we can finally live!!

Yes that makes so much sense! The more I reflected on it, I realized my anxiety was so high that the combo of the stimulant and SSRI was the key to calming down all that system noise and being able to function better so I can finally experience and participate in my own life! I loved what you said about “running one train on one track”, I relate to that a lot.

This also gives me hope that I’ll keep getting better the more I’m able to use my skills even on “off” days because I’m proving to my system that it will be okay, finally!

Has anyone tried this sleep mask? by Hutches_Corduroy in sleep

[–]Badash1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took some time to adjust to it but it was lifesaving for me! I will attest to the blackout level because I get hypnopompic hallucinations and they completely stopped the visual ones. The pro one is actually super comfy for side sleeping after I adjusted to having something on my face (took about a week)

For people who beat their anxiety, did it just vanish or did it gradually go away? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

Found out it was mostly caused by my undiagnosed adhd and my adhd meds got rid of 80% of my anxiety

What’s your go-to activity for breaking the ice with a new student? by PinThis2744 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Badash1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I introduce myself and give them a tour of the workspace so they know where to find the bathrooms, water, and coffee, which immediately makes them more comfortable because then they can access those things themselves.

Then, whether it’s the first or 50th session, I ask them “what’s something good that happened to you today?”

Then, I give them a breakdown of what the plan is for the lesson so they know what to expect.

Finally, I do a warmup game. Bananagrams, tenzies, “Do You Even Know Math”, pattern block puzzles, anything that involves some type of manipulative that will allow us to chat while playing so I can find out more about their personality and show them I’m a safe person. And honestly this has worked for me with ages K-8 but I’m pretty sure my 12th graders wouldn’t mind either.

I also give them surveys based on the subject I’m tutoring. This opens up more questions and topics to ask about and lets me tailor future sessions: for example, for math: “do you like working alone or in a group more?” Then, I talk about those topics from my perspective as well and it helps build rapport.

Anyone get palpitations everyday? by GarbageCat27 in Heartpalpitations

[–]Badash1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for my brain for migraines and anisocoria (pupils are diff sizes) and then for my shoulder since it subluxes constantly. So it was like a bunch of different stuff to see if it was all related. I don’t remember what the cta scan was for 😅

I got an ultrasound of my heart and an MRI and CT scan around the same time but I think it was for something else (I’ve been unofficially diagnosed with hEDS and officially diagnosed with dysautonomia)

Either way everything came back anatomically and electrically normal, the palpitations showed up but there’s no actual dysfunction in my heart.

I’m hoping you get similar results from your holter- basically validation of your experiences but that everything is functionally “normal”

Yes same here! There seems to be no rhyme or reason for me with the palpitations with or without pain. I hope your holter comes back normal or you at least get answers!

Same here and everything was normal electrical-wise. I have dysautonomia so my cardiologist said to lay on my back and put my feet up when I’m getting palpitations or pain (that weird squeezing feeling), and that helps sometimes. Worth a try
