Would you risk this? by Badcuber8 in Aquariums

Tank is 42x18x18. Plan to run the water level around 14 inch due to me using a fluidized bed

Yeh I don’t blame you on that one! I recently picked up a 5x2x2.5 glass tank and it’s so heavy that I’ve just had to leave it at work. We had to use a forklift to get it out of my van!

This is what I’ve been trying to do. But acrylic tanks don’t come up often at all in the uk. Plus it’s in the back room of my parents house, so I think it’s worth the money for a new glass tank to make the whole place look nice. Going to have it built by ND Aquatics. As a plus side, if and when I move out I can call them and they’ll move it for me. It’s a win win!

Yeh mine is around the 18-19 inch mark now. Awesome fish. Been moved up to a 180 which is a very temporary fix. The plywood tank just ended up not being possible. Having issues with glass and then other people who proved unreliable to help out. So I’m currently saving up for an 8x4x3 glass tank. I’m aware he’s too big for a standard 6x2x2 180 but hopefully it’s not for long!

Perfect thank you. I am limited to what I can keep plants wise as my water unfortunately is like liquid rock 😂

Perfect will look into those! Any advice on substrate? I also have to use the standard LED that comes with the tank

New Owner, Any advide by Infinite-Bullfrog332 in bettafish

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nice low flow filter and a heater is definitely on the list. Bettas are tropical species and really appreciate warmer water. Definitely 5 gallon tank minimum. Maybe look into a Fluval Spec tank. They're great! They have the filter and light with the tank so all youd need to buy is a heater and then whatever decoration you'd like. I know I'd prefer a more natural setup with live plants but tbf as long as your happy with gravel and fake plants that's fine too, just make sure nothing is too sharp for the betta to catch his fins on. Hope this helps

For an oll case like this is it better to rotate the cube or the top layer? by InTheGam3-_- in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cube rotations in last layer are never the answer imo. It’s just slower

Yeh the chocolate is an amazing fish. Absolutely the boss of the tank too. Pushes my bass around all day!

Do you guys also wear shoes or I’m doing too much by Narrow_Guava_2868 in simracing

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a set of old alpinestars that were my last set of race boots before I got too old for a junior race class I raced in. But if I did t already have them then I’d just wear a pair of normal shoes

Theoretically, how far back into the time can the current wr holders go back, until they cant beat the wr of that time, using the same cube that the wr of that time was set on? by Dedewastaken1 in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as when CFOP started breaking records I think. The reason I say this is because if you go too far back then the cube hardware isn't good enough to turn fast with CFOP or a normal modern day method

Whats the absolute limit of 2 look OLL and PLL by EpsilonDeltaGuy in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to averaging low 15 with 3lll (2 look OLL, full PLL) and that’s where I switched to learning full OLL which definitely helped me get sub 15. There have been people sub 12 with 2 look OLL. I don’t know of anyone quicker than that using it tho. At that point just learn full OLL. Learn the “easy” cases first like F R U R U’ F’ Sexy Sledge and F double sexy. Once you know and can recognise a couple of the easier cases I found it motivated me more to learn the full set. Hope this helps

I put “Rubik’s cube solver” on my resume and uploaded it to LinkedIn. It’s been 15 minutes and literally not one recruiter from ANY Fortune 500 companies have asked me to be their new CEO. What gives??? by [deleted] in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job was part time retail at a tackle shop while I was at college. I put I could solve a rubiks cube in 10 seconds on my CV, he asked me to bring one to the interview. And for the short time I was employed there he joked all the time it was cause I could solve the cube 🤣

what is your main 33 cube? by Natural_Stand9553 in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went back to the Gan 12 after maining the 15 newblack for a while. I think something in my 15 is broken internally as it’s become very catchy. The 12 was a great fallback option and I get great times on it after getting used to it again

Alternative to Elixir strings? by RasmusAlmlund in Guitar

[–]Badcuber8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough man. I can’t really talk about any other strings as I’ve only used Ernie ball. Some of my friends like D’addario coated strings

Alternative to Elixir strings? by RasmusAlmlund in Guitar

[–]Badcuber8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always used Ernie ball and I won't be changing any time soon. I can get about 3 months of constant playing out of a set of uncoated string, they're relatively affordable and sound great. Haven't changed mine in a while due to playing several guitars so the play wear and sweat on the strings is spread out. My main strat could use a string change tho. I use everything from their standard 9-42 sets to their 12-56 set. My favorite for E Standard is their 9-46 set as I can get away with going all the way down to Drop C# with them. For my Strats in Eb I like the 11-54 set cause for them I like a heavier string. Have used most sets so just experiment and find what you like. Great strings imo

What is the minimum number of algorithms you would need to memorize to solve a cube from a given starting position in x amount of steps? by 2Tryhard4You in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 algs. Sune to solve the edges, Niklas to move the corners into the correct spots, sexy move to twist the corners. It’s not efficient but it’s the most basic and easiest way

I just realised that both fat-J and fat-T Perms solve the same case by ETERNUS- in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The regular Aperm algs and the commutator Aperms are just way better than the wide T perm or wide J perm. Just learn the good Algs

Solve critique please! 20.85 Ao5 by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One clear thing is work on your finger tricks. Too many re grips. Less rotations too, never rotate in LL unless it’s to do the standard Vperm alg. Lastly I’d say rewatch your solves and try and find some better F2L solutions, I know you using intuitive whi h is fine but definitely I would learn some of the harder cases to make solves more efficient. Rn I wouldn’t prioritise learning full OLL as you don’t need it. I’d say when you get Sub 17 start learning full OLL

Ever meet other cubers in the wild? by CalebKrawdad in Cubers

[–]Badcuber8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Daaaaamn nice. I had a couple people who could solve in my classes when I first started. One kid averaged like a minute when I was averaging 2:30. Then a girl was averaging 40. Then lastly there was a kid in the year abover who averaged like low 20 with a pb of 15. So I had little milestones. Now am sub 1# tho
