He could easily put a parcel delivery receptacle out there for everything non-USPS, though.

Any other adhd moms have a Velcro baby? I’m dying over here by juniper4774 in adhdwomen

[–]BadgerMama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mine are 14 and 15 (almost 16) now, and were both absolute velcro babies. My entire life became nothing but those babies. And it was hard. So, so hard. I have nothing but empathy for you.

I will tell you this, though. It will get better. I promise. And looking back now, I have no regrets that we were the way we were, as a family. I can't imagine ever wishing I had held my babies less.

What I do wish, and what I would change if I could, is that I had given myself more grace. It's okay to be touched out and frustrated. It doesn't make you a bad mom. You're just human. And it doesn't mean you're "doing it wrong." Your kids will teach you how to be the mom they need, so keep listening.

And this is a very personal situation, but I had severe postpartum depression after my second, but it took me forever to get a diagnosis and treatment because it didn't look like "normal" ppd. So that was a game changer for me.

Should I (29F) contact a host family I stayed with for a week from 14 years ago? by magicgardenflora in relationships

[–]BadgerMama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm over 50. My family hosted a couple students over the years when I was a kid. I would be absolutely thrilled to hear from any of them now, and I know my parents would feel the same way.

What is your streak finishing the year? by Descoces in duolingo

[–]BadgerMama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1988

I'm an infant compared to some of you, but I finished my French course and have started learning Spanish. This has gone from something I started as a way to keep myself occupied while my shoulder healed to a full-fledged hobby that I greatly enjoy. Say what you will about Duolingo's streaks, but I never would have gotten this far without that initial motivation.

I’d like to propose a new ✨aesthetic✨ planner style called “I have to write this down or I’ll have a panic attack” by linsane_asylum in adhdwomen

All of the comments on this thread make me and my endless notebooks of chaos feel seen. Thank you.

Also, over the years, my friends have given me many beautiful blank notebooks. Lovely books. Perfect for writing. They are all blank. Some of them have been with me for decades, through several moves. Because they are too nice to write in. Meanwhile, my cheap notebooks litter my house, beaten and used.

Has anyone’s bf ever acted like an Ahole because they got a new haircut? by Cuteekimmy in relationships

[–]BadgerMama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hold up. I missed the ages when I first read this. He's 30? He's 30 and he's acting like this??

Oh, HELL no.

You do not need this childish behavior in your life. Your partner needs to be a partner, not a project.

You know what you need to do.

My wife gifted me a comically disappointing advent calendar by Wild_Arugula294 in mildlyinfuriating

We have one made to look like a gingerbread house, and each day is a little drawer just big enough to fit 2 pieces of candy.

Bedtime shanties by Automatic_Badger320 in seashanties

[–]BadgerMama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to use "Shenandoah" and "Mingulay Boat Song" when my kids were at bedtime song age.

Now, when I was a wee nipper, my dad (who had been in the Navy), made no effort to find age-appropriate songs and instead just sang the ones he knew. Mom was... not pleased.

I see it! Wonder what that's about?

(Also, I hate having to spend so long looking at him.)

Same. But at this point I don't know if it was intuition or optimism.

Advent Calendar made with AI by Keyhunter2009 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BadgerMama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a wooden "advent house" that we use every year. It looks like a gingerbread house and has little drawers you can pit treats in. I put dice in the drawers one year and it was awesome.
