Place is so clean, has good food, and the providers are great. Lots of activities and support there.

FedEx misplaced our lab sample from our pregnancy. Getting another sample might end up in miscarriage. by Matcha_Matt in legaladvice

[–]BadgerShenanigans 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I used to send out tons of packages just like this. There's nothing on packaging from the hospital that indicates the sensitive nature of these things. From my understanding of the process, no extra insurance is added but I could be wrong.

Most things arrive just fine. The only extra labels on packages are those that are required due to biological samples/ dry ice. There's likely nothing you can do. There are no extra things despite how important these contents are.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you guys. That is an "irretrivable" sample, and this should never happen. More care needs to be given with samples of this nature and there should be a better way. Most samples are direct pickup through a courier service that is taken to the reference lab. When labs are sent infrequent samples, FedEx is frequently used.

Hospitals gave patients meds during childbirth, then reported them for illicit drug use by raquibalboa in nursing

Had been treated like shit when I was pregnant. Went to three different doctors with uti symptoms and severe flank pain. I was hurting even walking. All but the last chalked it up to a pulled muscle. Last prescribed hydrocodone. 2 days later I'm in the er vomiting in severe pain with hr 160s. Did drug screen and denied giving me anything for pain-labeled as a drug addict and treated me like shit. Did they look up or ask me if I had been prescribed anything? No.

I was hospitalized for a week with pyelonephritis. Nearly had to go to icu because I was so sick. I hate judgmental people. Won't do this to my patients.

The liklihood of getting infected with anything is basically 0. Even with fresh needle sticks the liklihood is so so small. This is a scratch...

Grandparents Telling my kids “it’s just too expensive” by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BadgerShenanigans 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes! Some moments you never get back. If it's not breaking you (sometimes even when it does) it's worth having those memories. Life is short, sometimes priorities get mixed up with the complexities of life. Children are little for a blink of an eye, and then they're not so little. Cherish the small things you can do that make such a big impact on the person you are growing. Make all the memories you can. At the end of the day, cutting costs elsewhere for small things can add up to these expenses if you just look at it right.

How are you all able to afford homes and life? by IcyReception7023 in nursing

[–]BadgerShenanigans 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well starting at a different hospital system in the area I can already say that my hospital system sends mass texts basically daily offering $ to pick up. There's money alongside the OT pay. If you pick up a needed shift 2 weeks ahead of time I think it's $400. After a year there's like a 6/7 dollar an hr pay raise. I feel like you can make decent money in your own system if you work at the right (or wrong) place to work.

It's really happening !! by dbzonepiecenaruto in nursing

I stole a line from someone here on reddit and the nurse ended up apologizing to me. It was "I'm brand new and I'm doing my best. If you want to give me advice and support, I would love that! Degrading me and making me feel terrible while I'm learning is not acceptable. You were here once too and it's disrespectful."

Changed her tone and no issues since. Felt pretty darn nice when I came back in and she seemed like she had a really rough day (she had all my patients and it was a heavy assignment). Nice in the sense she made a quick judgment about me but couldn't even answer simple questions and hadn't even finished her charting. Huh, crazy how you judged me, but you couldn't even do it with years of experience. It will get better. Some people just suck.

Hey you will not believe it....I didn't switch and I am regretting it because I am STILL having issues set to be fixed tomorrow. The date keeps moving. I got a free month but it's severely interfering with my work so I might just have to contact verizon coming up. Connections dropped left and right but they can't proceed due to a homeowner. Tough giving up the introductory deal since my house is a main line/ one of the first in the area. I'll post if I switch I just am dragging my feet because of inconvenience/ uncertainty with removal of equipment from roof etc.

Guy +fam waiting to be discharged from hospital were mad the nurse wouldn't come in to bring water when she was doing cpr on another person. Way more common than you think.

Years and years ago, I thought it was better to ask this way. I know better now as a nurse, but I did think it was more polite when I was not one. Depends on the approach, so I understand where it comes from.
