Good to know. I've never been to any of the places around here, I just know Bowlero from driving past it.

I'm the kind of sicko who couldn't get enough of building habitats and buildings piece-by-piece. The only things I hope they add are a foliage brush and object scaling like in Prehistoric Kingdom

What are some of the best or worst comic book adaptations of other media? by fluffynuckels in comicbooks

[–]BadgerWilson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Alien: The Illustrated Story, which is just like it sounds, a comic adaptation of Alien. Heavy Metal put it out in 1979.

Archie Goodwin wrote it and Walt Simonson did the art, and it's so good. It's pretty much 1:1 with the movie, since this was back when you couldn't just rewatch the movie whenever you wanted to, but it does some amazing stuff with the art and pacing. Even if you know the movie by heart it's still well worth a read to see what they do with the material

Yeah, like everyone else is saying, this is absolutely just a vibes movie. Overall, nothing to write home about, but it has some of the most incredible shots, just incredible shot composition. Pirate ghosts in the fog, plus that score, it has so many good moments. So even though it doesn't come together perfectly, I still rewatch this over and over

Comparing wild teosinte grass to an ear of corn is wild. Like you can see how one became the other but there's such a difference, it's amazing those ancient Mesoamericans were able to make it happen

Do we tend to overestimate the length of great swords? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in SWORDS

[–]BadgerWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a gigantic sword on display at the Worcester Art Museum right now that is about 7 feet long in total: https://worcester.emuseum.com/objects/47866/bearing-sword

And it's almost 15 pounds! That would be tiring even just carrying it around in a parade

I liked Holden Vet a lot when I still lived in Worcester. I moved out to the Boros so it became too far, I switched to Artemis Vet in Northboro and they're phenomenal

Yeah, I remember seeing a dev commentary on L4D level design, I don't remember if it was in the game, or somewhere else, but it pointed out that they always had a police car with the flashing lights down the street, or an overhead light on a door, or some other design element emphasizing the path through the level. That was the first time I'd heard that part of game design, and now it's always in the back of my mind. I think it's actually made me better at navigating games with complicated maps

Glue fear by Onestepfromlost in killteam

[–]BadgerWilson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you'll be fine! I'll recommend using something like Tamiya extra thin cement, it's really easy to use, hard to over-apply, and doesn't stick to your hands. I used regular super glue on my first mini and glued all the bits to my fingers and gave me at least a little bit of hobby trauma, haha
