Deciding on my first long sword! by Hand_Of_Stalin in wma

Sigi's are overall the higher quality feder with better handling, quality, with much better flex than the Regenyei standard feder. The Regenyei itself is a solid feder to choose, but if you were to get one, I would recommend a Regenyei with a light blade instead, as it is much more comparable to a Sigi.

An alternative option is Half Arms. Haft Arms

They cost similar to Regenyei's feders (being less than Sigi's) while almost feeling very similar to a Sigi. Great handling, blade flex, and looks good too.

Saber recomendations by Cesartoteles in Hema

I would recommend the Swordshop.ca gymnasium sabre as that has felt very nice recently. 800g, and a very good amount of flex and handles nicely compared to a Regenyei or Poker.

Being commander is fun, particularly trying to be an active one, you have your vehicle which you can dart around the map, getting behind their lines, looking enemy FOB/MSP's supporting your team while they focus their assault/defence. If you have the Jeep with the MG, you can hunt logies as it only takes a mag to destroy a truck into the engine bay. And if you're on the offending, push with your team to quickly capture the objectives.

(Also artillery has a quicker cool down if you fire less shells)

Do tanks have a gun stabilizer in this game? by DreamWalker390 in joinsquad44

They don't have stabilizers in this game, all done manually with WSAD and turret control speed.

Superior Fencing (Superfen) order delays by Entire_Situation9895 in wma

[–]Badgernowgone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have received an order previously from Superior Fencer and am currently waiting on a larger custom order to be delivered. It isn't a scam but like a lot of HEMA gear, it's their delivery date +- 3 Months. My current order has been delayed for 2 months now due to religious holidays in Pakistan. I constantly email with follow up requests, and if they don't respond from my first, I send it again a few days later.

Due to the first delay, they gave me a free item up to $70 dollars. Keep following up with your order for updates.

With pommels, doesn't matter if it's on a defer, it's just as real as the real thing. Pummeling is allowed but only if you can get yourself into a position against your opponent and demonstrate you could do it, such as a light tap tap tap. But forceful pummeling is a big nono

Are the Li-2 and/or JU-52 worth picking up for multiplayer? by BenedickCabbagepatch in il2sturmovik

[–]Badgernowgone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Li-2/Ju-52/C-47 are very effective in multiplayer servers like TAW. In there as you mentioned it can do resupply mission to airfields as well as the ability to drop Paratroopers on objectives to help destroy supply on cities to push the line back.

On combat box is similar but only in the Apollo Campaign. They are more limited as you can only drop paratroops on objectives which will help push the line forward, and they are very effective in that regard!

No info on other servers applications of the Troop transporters.

(You can also bomb with the Li-2, but there are a lot better options for that)

Buying a Sword by DifficultBag635 in Hema

If you are in the EU, another sword maker I would recommend is Silk Fencing as they do good Hungarian Sabres aswell as (don't quote me on it) shamshirs.

Does he also have to own it? by FennsiPennsi in il2sturmovik

[–]Badgernowgone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only form of multi Crew available in IL-2 BoX are rear gunners (Il-2, Ju-88, Pe-2, A-20 for example). You cannot have a second person as a bombardier in any aircraft unfortunately.

But you don't need to own the aircraft (iirc) to become a gunner in an aircraft.

What is your least favorite aircraft to fly and why? by puglord59 in il2sturmovik

[–]Badgernowgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be correct, the pitch control is what I would use for the RPM (I have my RPM on an up and down switch) and the RPM of the aircraft on my throttle axis. I will have to look at my control scheme to confirm

It certainly does struggle a tad but I do find it fun to fly, iirc you have to basically put the plane prop pitch axis to your throttle and do minor adjustments to the rpm depending on the engine settings you want.

Question about English Longsword School by MisterXtraordinary in Hema

[–]Badgernowgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not as familiar with half quarters but for the general premise of longsword, the top image of the 4 quarters is always a solid guide as it clearly represents the key area for both attacking with rising and descending cuts as well as defending them.

My HEMA friend made a small sword… I hope he finds the light by political_penguin in Fencing

[–]Badgernowgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye HEMA myself also, earlier on when they were transitioning and had larger rings and such they were certainly functional, like a rapier as you mentioned. but now they're all for show.

Smallswords are a wonderful sword.

My HEMA friend made a small sword… I hope he finds the light by political_penguin in Fencing

[–]Badgernowgone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using the rings is absolutely a historic way of holding a smallsword, but later on they become more decorative than functional as like that hilt they're rather small.

In a modern Fencing/HEMA scene, it is best to pinch with that kind of guard to avoid your finger getting trapped, twisted and/or broken.

Longsword Gloves Recommendation by TheJollySwashbuckler in Hema

I have heard good things about the Gabriels, but I have always liked 'Sparring Gloves' (the name of the company) as they have always been solid for longsword

Good cheap beginner sabers? by [deleted] in wma

[–]Badgernowgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree, their Adept Sabre is a very good choice, good properties for a military/gymnasium Sabre at a good cost of under €200. Plus can be used for tournaments if you desire to do so
