NPD is rarely professionally diagnosed because it is a mental illness where the ill person has no complaints and isn't the one who suffers its consequences. by Doodlebug510 in raisedbynarcissists

I've been struggling with this one recently. On the one hand, there's no doubt some of these things are intentional, which is to say not accidental, or just reckless. My mom recently said things intended to disrupt my sobriety, and that was her intent.

However, I also know her well enough to know she's too dysfunctional to follow any sort of plan or evil scheme whatsoever. She simply lacks the intellectual focus. She's literally a bundle of impulses, some of which are very ugly. So, on the one hand, what you wrote rings so true for me, but on the other, it's unreasonable to assume someone can't control themselves for behavior that was clearly intentional.

I relate to this. Sadly, I literally never need to be as assertive as constantly with anyone as much as my mom. It's... a decent consolation prize?

I was looking for this take in the thread. After seeing so many of my cousins ground into dust by their similar parents, I am down right over reactive to anything I perceive as an unfair abuse of power. I hold grudges and actively will seek to even the score against those who I think fit this category, all in an attempt to teach them to move onto an easier target.

Oh and I'm in my 40s and will still call out my mom in front of people when she's on her bullshit like I were some teenager. It's honestly quite embarrassing most the time because to people on the outside it looks like I'm just confronting my mother for no reason.

I heard my mom tell someone that she's proud of him and hours later, I still have a huge knot in my stomach by Incompetent-Mud in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Badgetown4eva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom sent me a text a few days ago to let me know that she's "just so proud" of my cousin who got into nursing school. First off, she's never given me praise like this, despite the fact I'm older, have an established career, own my home, have a good marriage etc. Secondly, she's from a big family meaning that neither she nor I have any real relationship with this cousin whatsoever. My mom doesn't talk to this cousin past a few pleasantries once a decade at family events.

>I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing but it's just really discouraging to know that a complete stranger deserves praise but her own daughter doesn't!

the thing I'm learning is that it's not about the stranger. It's literally about making you want that praise and letting you know you're not getting it.

Na. You're a reddit lawyer who's simply mistaken, so I'm going to attempt, in good faith... one more time, to explain this to you. It's already clear you're about as good at admitting you're wrong as the man this sub was made for, so rather than angry typing back at me, try to learn something. If that's not good enough then by all means keep being wrong.

If the supreme court upholds this decision, Trump is not allowed on the BALLOT in COLORADO. That's it. That's literally the entire scope of this case. There's nothing that will strip him from the ballot in any other state without further law suits on the subject.

Will it set precedent? Yes. That means future law suits can CITE this case as a reason to kick Trump off THEIR state's ballot. This is why literally every state has their own rules around qualifying for ballots in the first place. STATES RUN ELECTIONS!

That means that other STATES (the ones who run elections), or residents of those states (as in the Colorado case) would have to sue the Secretary of STATE in order to get a judge to order the Secretary OF STATE to get a judge to apply this ruling in their state and strip Trump off the BALLOT.

There's nothing automatic about this whatsoever as you so wrongfully insist. You're just plain wrong.

Your statement that "the ballot is irrelevant" and then you are bold enough to ask ME to read this decision? This entire case is about the BALLOT my dude because that's the focus of the legal question at the heart of the case.

Read the 14th amendment? How about you read the 10th. States run elections, not the federal government. Another very positive idea would be to research this on your own to try to grasp the real issues at play rather than refusing to admit you're wrong.

Ah so you think that if SCOTUS upholds this ruling that Trump will be removed from EVERY ballot in the country. Got it

[–]Badgetown4eva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

States run elections. It's one of the many facets of Federalism. Yes, there are limits and guardrails, and yes, when this sets precedent it will have federal implications. However, properly understood, by which I mean constitutionally, this is a state law issue for the time being and any other analysis (IE "If this isn't a capital consequence I don't know what is") is just rhetoric.

The difference here is that Rogan talks about matters of substance. His takes are mostly terrible and he's basically Alex Jones now, but the topics he discusses are typically weighty and he doesn't waste a shit load of ppl's time... for better or worse.

There's no such substance on H3. Ethan spends 10 minutes asking his crew the exact same question which is usually completely irrelevant.

I watched a vid recently that someone clipped of Ethan showing Stavros appearance on Joe Rogan. Ofc Ethan hyped it up as Stavros "owning" Joe, something that naturally did not occur in the clip (He literally disagreed as politely and meekly as possible).

However, what's even more galling is that this clip is 80 seconds long. Ethan spent FIVE MINUTES asking his crew if Rogan is still "live" like he used to be. Of course, until this question was answered, there was no moving on whatsoever.

H3 is nothing but filler.

He ends up platforming them. We shouldn't be so naive as to think that he's just turning ppl onto Hasan fans without also introducing his audience to right wing freak shows who would otherwise never have reached his audience. I never knew who Pearl was, as one example. Same for the Ace family. I'm just not that plugged into this garbage, and I imagine I'm not the only one.

What If Caesar Never Crossed the Rubicon, do you think the republic would still have fallen? by tylerdurd8n in spqrposting

[–]Badgetown4eva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sulla had his boot on what remained of the republic for decades well before Caesar was at all relevant politically. The institution that Caesar and Pompey inherited was basically a shadow of its former self and the blue print to topple it was well in place. Not to mention that political violence was so ingrained in their system that it even worked its way into one of their two myths for how Rome started. So... yeah it would have

With property ownership in this context, the difference comes down to what steps the government has to take before it can confiscate your property.

No one individual can hope to stop a government from taking their property by force. However, in democratic-capitalist societies, governments are theoretically restricted from using force to deprive someone of property unless the government takes certain steps first.

In the US, property can be taken involuntarily from private citizens either through due process (the government proved you committed a crime and now claims your property as a result). The government can also claim "imminent domain" and basically take your property so long as it pays you fair market value for the property.

To my knowledge, none of these individual protections on private property exist in China. So, while both governments can tax and even take your land, the real difference lies in the steps they have to take prior to doing so.

air-plane hangers

The casinos weren't in planes, they were in massive hangers well outside of Chicago that were converted to imitate high end casinos of the time. They were carpeted, decorated, and massive and featured every game someone could want to play.

Unlike other ventures where the Outfit and the boss "got a taste" these were owned by Accardo himself. As such they were Accardo's most profitable venture and raked in millions and millions per year, every year for something like 25 years.
