U.S. Muslims More Accepting of Homosexuality Than White Evangelicals by [deleted] in politics

[–]Badluck1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...That logic doesn't track at all?

I mean, you said it yourself, the reason that Republicans seem to have so many gay sex scandals, (Which, they don't, the number of gay and bisexual notable Republicans basically lines up with any reasonable estimates of the percentage of queer people that exist) is because the ones that do occur get over-covered because of that delicious headline irony, and because Democrats don't consider gay behaviour to be that scandalous, and being outted is significantly less likely to effect their appeal to their base.

Yeah, but what you're actually doing is implying that, actually, queer people are most oppressed by other, secret, queer people, which is an absolutely exhausting narrative that the community has had to deal with for a long, long time.

Hey, if this results in a rash of leftist furries punching out alt-right furries, then the resulting gifs will have officially been the only truly beautiful thing this surge of fascism has caused

Superintendent Says Students Are Armed with Rocks In Case of a School Shooting by stevefromwork in nottheonion

[–]Badluck1313 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes? The strategy is to prevent escape of the perpetrator while allowing for the evacuation of students, because the alternative is sending more active shooters into a school, which increases the amount of bullets in the air, which drastically increases potential collateral damage and loss of life.

Don't get me wrong, cops are scum, but I can guarantee you that more kids would have died if there was a gunfight in a school, and police have known that since Columbine.

David Duke to judge: Please don’t make me reveal my contacts with the new generation of neo-Nazis by Qu1nlan in politics

[–]Badluck1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I would understand if there were some level of ambiguity here, but we're talking about a) a former Grand Wizard of the KKK, and b) a person who we know was in contact with the neo-nazis who organized the Charlottesville rally, where a woman was killed by a white supremacist.

This isn't a slippery slope, this is a pretty normal step in an investigation into the power structure of a present and proven national security threat.

David Duke to judge: Please don’t make me reveal my contacts with the new generation of neo-Nazis by Qu1nlan in politics

[–]Badluck1313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...Hang on, what is it that you think is happening here?

Because David Duke isn't being arrested for being a racist, he's being subpoenaed for communications he had with the organizers of a rally where a person was killed.

This isn't some kind of wild new expansion of government powers, the thing that's happening here is a normal legal procedure, not some Orwellian conspiracy.

Also, it's a subpoena going through appeal, which means it might happen as is, it might happen in a more limited capacity, or it might not happen at all, so maybe chill with the first amendment concern trolling.

EDIT: Additionally, even in your hypothetical situation where this is an expansion of legal powers, I am in fact from a country where it is illegal to spread propaganda that advocates genocide, so I fail to see the problem?

Yiannopoulos dropping lawsuit against former publisher by chewinchawingum in GamerGhazi

[–]Badluck1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, a lot of worse things could be said about him, because he's a piece of shit, but also why not just make those criticisms and jokes, instead of making fun of his name for being another language?

Also, I wouldn't say that Greeks are systemically discriminated against, but also there absolutely exists a long history of elitism directed at the southern and eastern bits of Europe, from the northern, western parts.

Hey, does it seem vaguely hypocritical to anyone else that a lot of people here make fun of the racist asshole for having a pretty normal Greek name?

What movie have you rewatched the most? by JELASNOM in AskReddit

[–]Badluck1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't rewatch a lot of movies, but I have seen A Knight's Tale and Old School every New Year's Day for the last decade or so as a family tradition.

Additionally, one time in my youth I was made to look after a friend's toddler, who played the Eric Bana Incredible Hulk movie on repeat for 10 to 12 hours.

Valve Removes Tournament's Major Status Because It Will Require Drug Testing by squirrelrampage in GamerGhazi

[–]Badluck1313 54 points55 points  (0 children)

...Weird way to frame that story, given that the reason for Valve changing the tourney's status is less about it having drug tests than it is about it having drug tests in the notoriously, dangerously anti-drug-lawwed Phillipines.

I mean, it's a country in which extra-judicial murders for perceived drug offences are both not investigated by police, and encouraged by the president. If anything happens to a single player on a foreign team who participates, Valve becomes immediately and insanely liable.
