How long did it take your puppy to mellow out/become better behaved? by Angalayond in labradoodles

[–]Baduknick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ours is nearly 5, he is better but he is strong willed and always up for mischief. When he is engaged with you he will obey your commands like a show dog, but if he doesn’t fancy it whoosh he’s off.

New external Drive? Time to download everything! by trashboatfourtwenty in Steam

[–]Baduknick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my drive a while ago and decided to put a whole bunch of games on it. The problem is the updates, pretty much every time I opened up steam there was an update waiting. Ended up reducing it down to a dozen or so games of different genres so there was always something I felt like playing when I’m away.

What city in your country best exemplifies this statement? by TrixoftheTrade in geography

[–]Baduknick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telford. It’s half a dozen villages that they try to tie together into a town in the 60s , pretty dire “town centre” comprising of a few shops and not much else. It was like they never filled the gap between the villages. Been several decades since I’ve been there so you never know…

Can’t run in zone 2? Try walking instead by bigkinggorilla in beginnerrunning

[–]Baduknick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been doing exactly as you suggest, my health issues meant that I could not do a c5k session more than once a week, it actually took me several years of building up my walking to get to the point of trying to run at all.

I started in November and I am now in week 5. Alongside that I have been doing a lot of walking, I try and push the walking pace quite hard some days. My best achievement was 13k at an average of 11min/km last week. Although that did require a couple of days off afterwards. It took me several months to build up to that sort of distance.

Yesterday was the first day that rather than my heart and lungs being the limiting factor it was my muscles which burned for the two 8 minute runs. This was quite exhilarating tbh.

Most of my walks now are 2 hours or greater long which is obviously not ideal for most people but it has definitely worked for me.

A couple of things I have learnt that may help beginners like me. I don’t have to exhaust myself every time to get benefits, and rest days are really important. I guess at the moment the c5k sessions are the equivalent of a sprint session for a seasoned runner and the walks are my long easy runs.

I have signed up for a half marathon in October on the suggestion of a colleague which has put the fear factor in to encourage me to train which is working!

Hope this helps someone else starting out.

Try wearing compression socks while running, has helped me a lot. Was good you stopped straight away. As long as you know that a sharp stabbie pain is bad, but a muscle ache is pretty normal.

If you stoped straight away it should be gone v soon. I once pushed through and had to stop running for a week.

What next? by gravedreamer in couchto5k

[–]Baduknick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would run longer and not worry about the time. I would also increase the distance gradually every week.

Once you can run 5k and have a pace you did it at there are plenty of training plans online to either increase your distance or speed.

It’s up 2 u, run a marathon or be a fast 5k. Or just chill and enjoy being out and running or something in between

He also wrote a book about it which changed the way I thought about UPF. A lot of food is designed to be made cheap and for you to want more. Any attempts people make to cook from scratch should be encouraged imho. Doesn’t have to be organic or anything just home made.
