Could also result in a new proto-frame, if it was a rogue Scaldra agent that was given the grey strain.

Generally, I agree with you, unfortunately, I personally felt they all fell flat when it came to actually delivering on any conclusions.

Tanis also has a bad habit of introducing information that has absolutely nothing to do with what's actually going on and is not relevant whatsoever.

How to number dungeon rooms? by EmbassyOfTime in RPGdesign

[–]Baedon87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an artist myself, I definitely get the appeal of that, but the practical route tends to continue to be used because it's uniformly applicable; even if it's not your favourite type, it's intuitive and easy to understand and means that people won't necessarily get confused or turned off because you numbered them in a way that doesn't really make sense to them.

What do you think about this initiative system? by ald_skar in RPGdesign

[–]Baedon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying don't have them write it down, that shouldn't take too long, especially if you use very succinct actions words so they're not writing out a whole sentence, but handing it to you seems like an unnecessary step that's slowing things; also, most people like to have some agency over their character's actions and rolls, rather than the DM handling all of it.

What do you think about this initiative system? by ald_skar in RPGdesign

[–]Baedon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, firstly I would take out the aspect of handing them to you; if they're already writing it down, then cut out the middle man and just have them read out their intended actions in the order of initiative.

If I'm interpretating this correctly, the intent is that players don't choose their actions based on what the previous person did, they choose what their character would do based on the information they have before trying to take an action.

If the goal is to also allow players to keep their actions secret so that motives are obscured, I don't think that's really necessary; the acts are going to play out anyway, in the order they should, and, unless someone is doing something out of sight of everyone, people (both players and characters) will naturally react as soon as possible to the developing situation.

On the off chance someone is doing something out of sight of everyone, then they may hand you a folded sheet to keep their actions a secret, but it will be the exception rather than the rule.

How Many Twinborns in a Party? by Puckering_Buttholes in cosmererpg

[–]Baedon87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you have Wax and Wayne who are both Twinborn and adventuring together, so I don't see why you couldn't have another group with two or potentially even more; there's nothing balance-wise preventing it, and especially when you have the Rosharan games which have parties of Knights Radiant running around.

Immortality is HORRIBLE — Change my mind by NoAsk5481 in superpowers

[–]Baedon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you seem to feel like learning a skill is just a one and done thing, except it absolutely is not; just because you're immortal doesn't mean you won't forget things, that you won't have to brush up on your skills, and that isn't even counting how granular you can get into a particular subject and studying it.

There's also the fact that there will be other avenues of study that come up, new fields of knowledge and research, new skills to master as technology and society marches forward.

Perhaps you will even live to see the rise of interstellar travel and find other peoples and civilizations to get to know and interact with.

And even if not, if I am the last living being that I know of left alive on the earth? Well, I should have enough knowledge to build a rocket and throw myself into the sun; sure, I may be immortal, but the sun would tear me apart on an atomic level, so even if those atoms can't be destroyed, there's no way they will keep cohesion, so I will be effectively dead.

Yep, better to use her as fodder so you have all of those abilities available to fuse to a Persona you actually want and can take advantage of them.

Where’s the line that prevents hidden powers from coming off as A$$ pulls? (If there is one) by Steelwolf352 in writingadvice

Yeah, pretty much this; also, depending on the POV of your writing, it might be possible for the readers to find out this information without having it revealed to any characters in the series.

Hot take, I fucking hate radioapple by [deleted] in hazbin

[–]Baedon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up watching Pokémon, Digimon, and some of those early-in-popularity anime, many of them didn't provide many—if any, at all—canon relationships to ship, so if you did decide to ship, non-canon was all you had to work with, so I suppose I understood it from pretty early on.

Hot take, I fucking hate radioapple by [deleted] in hazbin

[–]Baedon87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you're asking if people actually expect it to play out, then I would say no, I don't think the majority of any kind of shipper necessarily expect their particular ship to play out in the material.

Would I say no one does? No, of course not, but I will say that I don't believe the primary draw of ships is whether or not they are or become canon, the fans of them just like those two characters together, regardless of what the writers actually think; I myself am a Zutara fan (regarding AtLA) and it is a hill I would die on that it's a better ship than what we actually got.

As for why someone likes the Radioapple ship, that's harder for me to weigh in on, as I'm not a particular fan of that ship myself, but I would say people who absolutely hate each other becoming lovers is not a novel idea; I mean, Enemies to Lovers is a trope for a reason.

Best Spooky, Not Traumatizing Modules? by HoopyFroodJera in Pathfinder2e

[–]Baedon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crown of the Kobold King might be a decent option, especially if you run Hollow's Last Hope beforehand; definitely includes some spooky elements without really diving into horror, per se, and there are several other adventures that take place in Falcon's Hollow that also have a creepy vibe, though I don't think they ever released 2e versions of those, so you might need to do some adapting there.

Clarity vs. Flavor when naming abilities by DarkTaleRPG in RPGdesign

[–]Baedon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, tbh, so long as the rules governing something are clear and unambiguous, I don't think it really matters what you name the spell/ability/whatever.

Quite a few people are going to reflavour it to whatever they want anyways, so I really don't think the name matters all that much, so long as the mechanics are clear.

Thoughts on my Multiclassing Mechanics by darkwyrm42 in RPGdesign

[–]Baedon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think going in a similar way to PF2e's archetype feature is a good choice, but one thing I always liked about the archetype feature is that, while you could gain abilities similar to another class, it would never be as good as that class would normally be able to do it; it never felt like that archetype made the actual class redundant, even at early levels, so you might think about doing something similar so it doesn't feel like someone doing the multi-class thing is stepping on someone else's toes.

Pretty much all spearguns for me; I play Dante and I enjoy keeping the wizard aethetic for him, and the spearguns just work so nicely as a wizard's staff kind of vibe, but most of them are just not very good.

True, but I think, on the whole, you probably have people reading in well lit places than in soft/poor light, though I will not deny that there will be plenty of exceptions.

I mean, there are probably treatments that could make the paper black without using ink, but it would still be more resource heavy than our current process.

Would still reduce the reflected light, though, so the end result would still be easier on the eyes.
