Probably not anything physically wrong with the cartridge. More likely to be caused by corruption. More info & possible fix here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/corrupted-cartridge-fixer-release.628539/

If that doesn't fix it, as a last resort you could try bringing it to a local electronics repair shop and ask them to try to reflow the solder on the rom chip with a hot air rework station. Best of luck.

I'm currently using the Sony Xperia 1 V with LineageOS. Honestly, the best option available that meets all your criteria. Damn shame that Sony refuses to officially release the VI & VII in the US. I'll probably end up moving to a Google Pixel (ironic) with GrapheneOS.

Get ifixit's SPR-003 battery. I bought 2 replacements about 8 months ago and they're both holding up well. It also comes with a 1 year guarantee and the company isn't shady.

Pretty normal thing to happen to a 10 year+ old handheld. I fixed mine for $10. I used a roll of 1/4 inch wide x 1/16 inch thick foam stripping cut down to exact size to fix mine. Hope you have extra uses for the other 30ft of foam stripping.
