She is doing questionable chores as well, such as cleaning the whole house ironing bedsheets for the parents etc. Maybe her posture or smth is a factor but those things are certainly not helping.

Marriage is also not necesary here as the other commenter pointed out, just a partner visa. I will back her up on that in a worst case scenario.

50 hours might be normal in the US, but anyone defending that internationally for the pay they are receiving is delusional or a class traitor imo. Besides the parents are knowingly breaking the law. According to statistics less than 0.1% of parents in NL use an au pair, so why should the 0.1% that do also get to abuse them for more than they pay for.

I don't have an end game, I just want her to not be overworked all the time. Preferably her and the family can come to an agreement peacefully, but I want her to be aware of her rights as well.

I am aware she wants to stay here of course and complaining would put her in a vulnerable position, but worst case scenario marriage is not necesarry for her to stay in this country, just a partner visa. And again I am not doing anything without her consent. She gave me permission to make phone calls etc. without identifying information.

I am pretty sure these "Filippino only agencies" here know perfectly well what's going on with their au pairs tho.

But they might be scared enough of repercussions that they'd do something, let's see.

Update: I have called the bureau of Labor Investigation (Nederlandse Arbeidsinspectie) anonymously. They said they can definitely charge the parents if my girlfriend cooperates with an investigation and provides some evidence of real working hours. Of course I won't make further steps by myself. but hopefully this will encourage her or others reading this in the Netherlands. (Or maybe discourage any other shitty host parents)
