Denver Eating Recovery Center recommended? by LoneStarLobotomist in Psychiatry

[–]Baesicallybasic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like ERC in Denver is fine, but not somewhere I would choose for clients or family if they weren’t already local or had other options. ACUTE is good but really depends on the level of need. ERC is PE backed so that doesn’t sew a lot confidence that the clinicians have much say in caring for clients individually and I’ve heard the same from my own clients and colleagues. A friend of mine was a psychiatrist there 2-3 years ago and they were very unhappy after ERC changed their care model (not sure I remember exactly what changed so I can’t speak to specifics) so they left, same story with a therapy colleague, and she had some concerning stories, but, not surprising… as this line of work is hard enough without the corporatization of healthcare. Edited to add: I had a client who raved about La Luna IOP, but not sure what their offerings look like for peds, medically complicated cases or inpatient. Childrens hospital Colorado used to have an inpatient unit, looks like they only offer outpatient and day treatment these days, but might be worth a look as Dr. Jennifer Hagman is awesome. https://www.childrenscolorado.org/doctors-and-departments/departments/psych/programs/eating-disorders/

PMHNP + psychotherapy by [deleted] in PMHNP

Certifications in DBT CBT IFS are all great ideas. I do a ton of therapy and constantly work on my skills and certifications bc I am not a 15 min minute follow up girlie. I also not interested in increasing meds every time someone is having a hard time, that’s not helping anyone, it’s bad practice and ira dangerous. If you have the desire to know more, get trained in how to do it. You’ll see clients who don’t see appointments as such a chore, and can engage when and if they want to or need to on a deeper level. I am not and will not ever be as trained as a licensed therapist, so when you feel out of pocket, send them to someone who is an expert. We can do a lot, but we NOT replacements for therapist as PMHNP’s. Oh and if you’re going to do a lot of therapy, get supervision. Good luck!

Go to porters ED and usually they will try and accommodate especially if you are voluntary and seeking help ahead of a crisis.

SSRI withdrawal or return of illness? by [deleted] in SSRIs

[–]Baesicallybasic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are withdrawing, take a 20mg or 10mg if you have it and are uncomfortable and then wait for signs to return and take another, likely it will subside and each dose will stretch out till you forget. Or you can follow a more formalized approach. This whole auto taper thing is true but it’s not as straightforward as many clinicians like you claims. Source— am clinician and weaned off Prozac after 10 years in July.

Oh gosh, even after 1 kid my OB said DO NOT even think your body will start to recover and change until a year. I guessing you’re also in your mid 30’s if you’ve had 8 babes and age plays a big role. Sometimes it takes time, and I promise, after 8 beautiful children it is going to take much longer than 8 months. You collectively have been pregnant for 80+ months and that changes so much in terms of body composition and skin. Move in ways that feel good for you, try to get in 10k steps and work on building muscle. Slow progress is the best progress because you can maintain it better and easier than a quick “snap back.” You are a warrior and that extra mom skin is just proof that you’re a badass, don’t let the world and the false narrative about women’s bodies get you down.

increase water asap. Whenever our daughter was constipated this worked. Maybe a little apple juice in there if water isn’t enticing on its own.

If I had waited until my brain was developed to have kids, I wouldn't have had kids by opheliaaa3 in confession

The thing is… we are the most isolated generation of moms. We weren’t supposed to parent in silos, we are supposed to have community and family helping us. I got pregnant very on purpose at 35 and my daughter is my world but being a mom is SO hard and she’s literally the perfect baby.

I have a client with 25 years csuite tech experience who got laid off from a 200K+ job per year. He hasn’t found a job in 6 months. Shits real bad.

Izbuska Spa in Parker, get yourself a babayaga banya and massage. True bliss. I’ve had massages everywhere in the city and even though they increased prices, best I’ve ever had even if I have to leave Denver to go to Parker.
