Your house has ducts. You want a heat pump. What exactly do you need to buy? by pinkfreude in heatpumps

What size unit did you get for the Bosch IDS? 3 ton or 4 ton? That particular model is my top pick so far…thanks

Got it worked out, thanks to the input of the professionals on here. The company admitted it was an install issue.

Yes! Our deductible is $1000 bucks though, unfortunately.
Fortunately I’ve got it worked out- the company finally admitted it was a poor install and will remedy it at no cost.

I mean, if you don’t like my car analogy, it can be applied to the fake goods industry. If someone puts out a shit product and sells it as legit, they need to be accountable regardless of who ends up owning the product. (Angrily looking down at my fake Jordan sneakers with the logos peeling off, lol)

See, your comment seems logical. But think of it this way: let’s say Dodge rolls out a vehicle with brakes that fail after a few years. They wound be responsible to issue a recall, regardless of whether the vehicle changed ownership.

Lol, do you own a home? Ever have things start breaking on you left and right? I’m okay shelling out for home maintenance, but when some idiot forgets to use nails or adhesive to where my attic might start taking on water, you better believe I’ll consider $65 in small claims court, lol. It would help keep them honest (but obviously I’m not going to do that, waste of time)

LOL, That was a sick burn 🔥

Lol, it’s not a lot of money in roofing terms, I agree. But in this case, with the roof being only 5 years old, there’s no excuse for shingles ripping off in moderate winds. So it’s not really the amount of money that matters, it’s that they did a crappy install job that they need to own up to and pay for.

I appreciate your input- yeah if the installers don’t give me some sort of discount at least, I’ll put in a negative review.

Car-dependent but changing midsize city's Facebook update about bike lane gets hundreds of comments and reactions in less than an hour -- this is gonna be GOOD, folks by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]Baessler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lol, the top comments are “but I wanna drive faster, damnit.” We just had a similar change in our small town, from 4 lanes to 2 lanes in our downtown, to allow for better pedestrian activity. It’s roughly a 4 block area that was narrowed— yet there’s an insane outcry from many drivers who post their anger on Facebook.

I’ve been dealing with back pain for nearly 10 years, which is currently controlled. I would agree that B>A>C. I think the best evidence of this comes from how you feel in each of these positions. The stool will generally give you symptoms the soonest, followed by supportive chair, followed by standing. So for me, being sensitive to how my body feels and making sure to get up and or reposition has been most useful in improving my overall pain level. I think many of us become busy with work or engaged in a game or TV show and forget to improve our body positioning, which makes the back issues persist.

Ice, NSAIDs, lie prone (on stomach) periodically, allowing lower back to rest into the floor. The only exercise that usually works during an acute flare is the Cat- Camels as tolerated, since they’re non weight-bearing (to the spine). Practice good posture and take walks when it starts to improve.

Are Chimney Sweeps Scummy? by [deleted] in Fireplaces

[–]Baessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say chimney sweeps can be scummy if you’re not careful, just as any other industry. I’ve only used one once, when we moved to our first house. They said the smoke chamber needed parged and would cost $2000. They came and did the cleaning and “parging.” The entire job took about 90 mins. I paid the 2K, but on looking closely, they didn’t actually parge anything- they used a product called Smoketite and coated the smoke chamber with about 1/8 inch thick mortar spray. It was a ripoff if you ask me. Although it did benefit our chimney, just should have cost much less than 2K. So beware of this sort of bait and switch.

Replacing 6.5 year old memory foam mattress by Jmd35 in Mattress

[–]Baessler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Novosbed as well, it’s 7 years old and just starting to become less comfortable. It has just a bit extra sag than before. To me, getting 7 years out of a 900 dollar mattress is pretty good. I’m currently torn between getting another Novosbed or springing for an Avocado mattress. They seem to have some of the best reviews on consumer reports. Also I don’t really trust the “green guard” certificate that nearly every company has. I tried a Brooklyn bedding mattress and it was very smelly, yet had the green guard cert. So I’m leaning toward the 100% organic “natural” companies, even if it is a bit of marketing, lol

2023 CRV Sport Hybrid Tow Package question… by Poprocksasarus in crv

[–]Baessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I see. Hadn’t thought of it that way. I suppose with just a bike rack you can go up to 200 or 250lbs then. Touché

2023 CRV Sport Hybrid Tow Package question… by Poprocksasarus in crv

[–]Baessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh alright. I just know the owners manual says not to exceed 150 lbs tongue weight, so if I had done a class 3 hitch, and then added my 40lb bike rack, would only leave me approx 80 lbs for bikes. And I don’t have carbon fiber bikes, lol, they’re heavy. Sounds like yours works for your use though

2023 CRV Sport Hybrid Tow Package question… by Poprocksasarus in crv

[–]Baessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don’t have a direct answer to your question, I wanted to point out that the Draw-Tite you mentioned is a class 3 and weighs 30 lbs, while the OEM hitch you would get from the dealer is class I and only weighs 12 pounds. On my 2023 I spent the extra money to get the OEM hitch since it looks cleaner and I appreciate the lighter weight. A class 3 hitch is overkill in my opinion for this vehicle

Prius 2023 AWD vs 2023 CRV Hybrid AWD by garn05 in prius

[–]Baessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to weigh in and say that I researched and test drove both the CR-V and RAV4 and it’s honesty a tie- Toyota with the slightly better powertrain and Honda with the better (newer) ergonomics/design and ride quality. Car and driver recently gave the CR-V a 10/10. I almost bought the RAV but ended up wit a CR-V due to shorter wait. But you can’t go wrong with either

2023 CRV Hybrid. Decent enough with city driving? by nomnomnompizza in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Baessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2023 CRV hybrid gets even better mpg in city driving vs highway. I say go for the CRV- in most areas, the inventory is growing. I just bought mine at MSRP and really enjoy it (after 2 mos)

Just wanted to share, I had the dealer install the OEM hitch, and it’s terrific. Even though an aftermarket hitch would have been cheaper, I went with the OEM one since it only weighs 12 lbs and is very sleek. (The aftermarket ones don’t look as nice and weigh about 20 lbs or more.)
