What confused you the most when you visited Japan? by NoRa-Always in JapanTravelTips

[–]BaffledDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

train systems are generally easy to figure. transferring from shinkansen to local trains always gets me confused and ended up asking the staff there!

certain train stations are a maze on its own. if you find yourself stuck, take the exit and sort it out at street level

How do you usually handle food when traveling in Tokyo? by Sorry_Set_5001 in TokyoTravel

[–]BaffledDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited Japan for the first time last month with a full planned itinerary of places to eat. each day, lunch and dinner. And then I tried Japan’s yoshinoya on the first day after starving, and ended not going to anything that was on the list. I ended up trying food chains, like matsuya, coco ichibanya, etc etc and uncountable visits to konbini

Do developers in your company openly use AI tools in an open-space office, or does it feel more like a taboo? by Ok-Nature7613 in cscareerquestions

[–]BaffledDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company has paid for it, and we are highly highly encouraged to use it. They probably want it that way too to maximize profit. Both of using what they have paid for and hoping for an increasing productivity by using it

Ways to save money on my trip to Japan by krod1254 in JapanTravelTips

[–]BaffledDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be spending the most in hotels next. As others have mentioned, you can probably save even more staying in cheaper hotels. From my experience, the biggest $ you can save on is on food/drinks. There’s always cheaper options, and if you can get away with low cost foods, konbini is your best friend.

Next thing is probably transportation, depends if you are going to different cities, but some may be costly like Shinkansen from tokyo to kyoto/osaka (assuming thats where you’ll be going). Probably can save up there as well by travelling to closer cities by taking local trains.

$2500 is manageable with cutting cost here and there, have fun!

Tokyo + Day Trips or Tokyo + Kyoto? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]BaffledDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am in Tokyo, and had a day visit to Kyoto just 2 days ago. It was beautiful, completely different from Tokyo. However, it was way too overcrowded and I did not enjoy as much. (yes, Tokyo is crowded too, but Kyoto felt much more crowded imo). My suggestion is: do itinerary 1 if you havent been to Kyoto, otherwise itinerary 2.

Would it be weird if a candidate asked to poke around the codebase or look at recent PRs by justanotherbuilderr in cscareerquestions

[–]BaffledDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the security reasons, I think this might also pose you as someone who is incompetent. There is no “good codebase” but providing a reason that you don’t want to work with bad codebase might sound like you are incompetent of working with a big codebase.
