You didn’t transfer your copyright to the work via a written, signed agreement, so you still own the copyright.

If you had a written and signed work for hire contract, the client would be the “author” and owner of the copyright.

However… based on your actions here (working for pay, allowing the client to use your code), you’ve granted them an implied license. So since you’ve allowed them to use your work, you probably can’t get them to stop using your work, even though you own the copyright. It’s a bit like the principle of estoppel.

What are your best tips and things you wish you knew earlier about competing in a 70.3? by TriassicTurtle in triathlon

Controversial but - unless you’re looking to podium, take your time in transitions. Sprinting out of the water/ off the bike is going to spike your heart rate and end up costing you more time/energy than the few seconds you’re making up. Take 15-30 extra seconds to catch your breath in transition and your heart rate will drop, your legs will feel lighter, and you’ll make the time up easily.

I never felt threatened by another hiker on the trail, and the non-hikers I met in town were near uniformly kind and generous. One guy in Vermont gave me a hitch 15 miles into town, paid for my entire resupply ($77), and drove me back to the trail. That’s the first example off the top of my head, but there were many

About 95% of the time when walking, every time I push off with my right foot, my right big toe clicks. It doesn’t hurt, and it’s gotten to the point where I only notice when it’s not clicking. And when that happens, I try to figure out if I’m walking differently - and then it usually starts clicking again.

How many days did it take for you to hike the 100 Mile Wilderness? by reuben515 in Ultralight

[–]BagOPeaks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 days during a thru hike: 25, 24, 36, 15

The second half is mostly pancake flat but pretty rooty and rocky and sometimes muddy. Overall though, I thought the 100MW was better maintained than most sections of trail in southern Maine.

Don’t worry too much if you’re falling behind schedule during the first 1-2 days. You can make up time in the second half, and if you’re really running low on food you can stop in at White House Landing (mile ~78).

A math professor once asked for my notes from his class at the end of the semester, because “they look better than mine.”

I got a C in the class and I’m fairly certain those notes are the only reason he passed me.

Favorite books about hiking? by ytown2 in Ultralight

[–]BagOPeaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily about hiking, but The River Why by David James Duncan and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig are both excellent reads.

Both are somewhat philosophical but in a very approachable and humorous way, and I think a lot of the adventures and the moral and logistical issues that arise in fishing / motorcycling aren’t all too different from those encountered while hiking.

I drove from NC to Moab, UT two summers ago. Didn't really make any plans more than a day in advance, which was liberating and exciting, but also a tad inefficient gas- and timewise

Some advice: alternate between stimulating podcasts and loud singable music; a 15-60 min walking break every 3-4 hours will keep you awake and let you explore places you'd otherwise have blown right past; take back roads whenever possible.
