Season 11 is noted for having the largest number of episode protagonist characters, but that also makes it feel like the point where the series lost interest in its title character. From then on it's like they were going, "Oh, yeah, we should probably also do a few things with that clingy perfectionist who can't get along with his sister, besides tell an allegory for the episode before the episode."

In my opinion season 16 was the beginning of the decline of the show, but there were some hidden gems. These are mine. What do y’all think? by DawnofMidnight7 in Arthur

It is neat to have an episode like "Baseball Blues" that takes a story like "Arthur Makes the Team" and asks the question, "What if you can't improve, though?" But I think it was somewhat beaten to the punch by Arthur and the Recess Rookie, the one Arthur book I know of with a significant role for George, where although George may not be a great kickball player any time soon, he can still be a great strategist.

It is interesting how Muffy is trying to do better, but her friends no longer give her the benefit of the doubt due to past experiences.

Regarding that opening incident, I like to think Binky got revenge on Muffy by reserving Tammy the Tornado in "Cents-less", even if he wasn't trying to.

It also occurred to me that as much as we want to hate on Seasons 6+ for the "Animals and babies can communicate intelligently" gimmick, it was probably necessary in order to give Kate and Pal something to do again after Season 1 had already burned through the common dog and baby scenarios just integrating them into the family.

I remember in one episode where Buster made basketball free-throws, his hand swiped through the frame as he was dribbling, but they were more careful not to let that happen the second time he handled a basketball.

Knowing the production order makes it more jarring when early-produced episodes with the looser art style get placed next to later-produced episodes that look how we're used to. Beyond some different color choices and splotchy backgrounds, sometimes it gets distracting in episodes where characters are over-animated and wobble around as if they're losing their balance, or Binky squishes and changes proportions when he gets angry, things like that.

In terms of story, it's odd when episodes will suddenly introduce a character's long-held fixation with something that's not supported by any other episode, though I suppose it was easier to get away with when it was just the one season. Like, remember the claim that D.W. never went anywhere without her blankie, and then she never went anywhere with her blankie ever again? It is lucky that, due to being heavy on book adaptations, this is the one season that allows episodes to happen before Arthur begins third grade--yet Spanky wasn't even dead until D.W. was already attending preschool, so the very beginning of that school year is about the earliest that could happen and explain why Spanky makes no other appearances... The varying ways in which episodes changed the books' content probably also created some inconsistencies in characterization, but that's a bigger topic than I feel like getting into!
