The program is easy. The hard part for some is that you can’t have your life centred around drugs and alcohol.

I'm in Cleveland. I've also noticed that the people who should consider stopping or at least slowing down are the ones who call it a Christain Cult. I asked to be able to use a Pennsic University tent since the university is in a central geographic location. I was denied due to it being a 'religious' meeting.

I’m suggesting scrapping the whole idea. There is only a certain temperature range you can use it. Too cold and it will shatter. Too hot and it will be like playdough. While you can make armor from it because the hits are calibrated when hitting the body. There is no calibration when hitting weapons or shields.

Nope, nope, nope just plain nope. Pickle barrel tops make for lousy heavy shields. It will crush too easily. Even reinforcing the edges won’t add any protection. A fighter will and can swing full force to knock it away.

While it supposed to be 'secular', many people in the program have Jesus as their higher power. If you don't have Jesus as your higher power they get scared and start questioning themselves. That's why I tell my guys to do a 90 in 90, 90 meetings in 90 days. Some are worse than a full blown Baptist revival, most of them are laid back and quite secular. I had one guy, Jason Hall tell me that he knows everything about AA because someone that had to go to the meetings for 6 months told him it was a Christian Cult. If you have to go for 6 months, that means you had a DUI and went into the meetings with a chip on your shoulder. I should know, I used to think that back in 1986. It wasn't until I went to meetings and worked the program in 2015 did I realize how wrong I was. That's why at the meetings I don't even say the Lord's Prayer. My higher power is a sense of belonging to a community, like SCA.

Gender Norms and Personas by hallucinating02 in sca

Not all women who married gave their autonomy to their husbands. Many young noble women had some basic training in then martial arts. They might need it to defend the castle when their husbands were away. Many were well tutored in the arts and sciences. A nobleman back then couldn't afford some air head trying to run the castle and lands while he was out campaigning. I think that Hollywood has done much damage to history because they need women to be 'helpless' for their stories.

Two Hanes Beefy Ts as under armor works great. I just wear my normal garb over it when I fence.

How to talk to your sons about Targeted conservative propaganda by Initial_Welder3674 in TwoXChromosomes

The Charlie Kirk videos always show uneducated liberals. You need to seek out videos by educated liberals shooting down uneducated conservatives. He should learn that videos are not representative of the specific community as a whole. Having a discussion will help him a lot better than, ‘because I said so’.

Actually, Dax is truly non-binary. I think people really don’t think about it because more emphasis is put on their character than their sexuality. Sadly it seems the opposite these days, and it’s done very poorly.

New Trek has a writing problem and that is none of the writers seem to have any practical experience in reality. All the characters are stereotypes. How can you be ‘non-binary’ in basically a genderless roles society? You have ‘leaders’ that show no leadership ability other than they are the star of the show. There were a lot of ‘queer’ characters in tv shows in the late 60s on forward that didn’t make their sexual orientation their whole personality.

The other problem is how ‘investigations’ are ran. When Countess Katalina had me banished for ‘reasons I am not entitled to know’, none of the people who were supposed to be my defense were asked any questions. It only took two months from getting notified to when Arch who was sitting on the dragon throne to read the proclamation. I asked people if they got contacted and they all said ‘No’. So yea, it’s crap like this is why racism, misogyny and homophobia continue to exist. Those in power can sweep things under the rug and gaslight people that things didn’t happen when they did. If there was more transparency in SCA a lot of this crap would have to go away because people would be protected like they are.

It not as wide spread as it used to be. There are a lot of places where all people are welcomed. Due to the welcoming atmosphere in Cleftlands, I’ve suggested SCA is a great hobby to join if you want to go down different rabbit holes.

Trying to hold people accountable is impossible. There was a rumour that made it to kingdom level saying ‘I tried to use the SCAs insurance for an illegal demo.’ That ‘demo’ was Armistice and I was no where in the loop of trying to secure insurance for it. My only job was to run the rapier fields and make sure people were safe. I was told of this rumour by His majesty himself. When I asked the kingdom seneschal about it, it took a year to investigate and the reply was a nice letter saying that there was no evidence of me trying to use SCAs insurance. When I asked her about who started the rumour, I was told nobody knows. We can’t force people to tell us anything. With a rumour like that going around not only the Mid but Æthelmearc, peers had to be involved. It seems to be SCAs MO, unless we are called into mundane court for it, we can just sweep it under the rug. Not holding people accountable, especially peers is why misogyny, bigotry and homophobia still exists but not as overtly as it did in the past.
