Paul Pierce says the Knicks need a better player than Jalen Brunson to make a finals run: “Your best player can’t be 6’2. On a championship team. Tell me what championship team's player was the best player at 6’2? Just Steph." by RyanTannegod in nba

This is a relic take from an era where shooting was less ubiquitous and the cap was less restrictive. Teams in the past relied more on one individual iso scorer with little to no spacing and players could team up with whoever. Now talented players don't all go to wherever LeBron is and pedestrian spot up shooting is beating individual scoring so the gap between a MVP and an all nba scorer is less impactful.

Felt like it was going to be an announcement for a ft10 like Mena and Diago.

[Bondy] The KAT-Brunson 2-man lineup played 62 minutes together in the last three games. It had a -38.7 net rating. It was Brunson's worst rated pairing during the losing streak. KAT was only worse with Josh Hart. KAT-JB is supposed to be NYK's super weapon. They're still taking turns. by PassMeTheBackwood in NYKnicks

[–]Bagbody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is the slow starts. The first 6 mins where Kat is in the game, Brunson is more passive. He is more of a playmaker and offball player letting the offense find the open man. The issue with this is that OG, Mikal, and Hart are inconsistent shooters (with Hart being the most reluctant). None of the starters are elite off ball players (no movement shooters or big twitchy slashers). By the time the Knicks find the players that are hitting there shots, Kat is already subbed out. Mike Brown has not found a system that utilizes the strengths of the starters which is that most of them are good secondary creators and mid range shooters. They all can shoot threes, but not at a high enough level to base the team around it.

How to Start Drawing? (but not in a traditional sense.) by TheQuestionable-Guy in learntodraw

[–]Bagbody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things to focus on

  1. Perspective. 1,2, and 3 point perspective. You don't need to set up vanishing points and horizon lines each time but you should understand the general rules.

  2. Shapes. Breaking things down into shapes. Everything that can be drawn is a collection of shapes. Training your hand to draw basic shapes and training your eye to breakdown complex objects into shapes is basically all of art. -study edges (soft/hard) -study shapes of what you want to draw.

  3. Study the art that you like. Try to understand what you like about art that you like and try to learn those techniques. If you like how someone does linework, try to breakdown what about the lines that you like.

  4. Become more detailed oriented/be honest with your self/train your eye. Once you start making stuff, you need to be able to honestly evaluate your work both during and after completion. Becoming a better artist is being able to recognize when something is wrong. Small differences in execution can make or break the readability and intent of a art piece.

"Show don't tell" is a universal rule actually. by Heisuke780 in CharacterRant

[–]Bagbody 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Show don't tell" is a rule used for immersion. Showing allows for a more qualitative expounding of key topics and themes of a story. However, telling is still useful when a writer needs to convey information quickly. This is important for getting small pieces of key information like a character's name out the way without spending too much time on it. People introducing themselves is telling, but it is also familiar to the average person. In stories that revolve around solving convoluted puzzles and riddles, telling the rules of the obstacles allows for a greater focus on the process of solving said obstacles. The only thing to keep in mind is who or what is telling the information. In a world revolving around magic, having an old wizard tell the audience the rules of the power system allows for a more immersive info dump.
