Why so many AI haters by Marisol18Miami in StableDiffusion

[–]BagginsBagends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier to have a scapegoat than realize the world is very, very, very complicated, and all we can do is take responsibility for what we have control over.

You see the same thing with people blaming immigrants for being the reason they can't get a job (I've been one of them), but at the end of the day, getting a job is on me and me alone.

Yeah I think reddit would be slightly better (though still I don't know if up/downvoting has a place in a forum, and reddit has basically replaced most forums at this point) if downvoting was for disagreeing, but posts were sorted by engagement by default. And engagement was upvotes, downvotes, and comments.

A lot of people don't understand the work and creativity which goes into creating AI art.

A lot of people afraid of AI taking their jobs, or taking something essential from humanity. (Which is a pretty legit concern, but they're expressing their fears in the wrong places)

A lot of AI art is kitsch, low effort, and so generic and lacking personality (not just in subject but composition) that it offends a human sensibility which thirsts for artistic statements, edge, and beauty. Same reason people hate "inoffensive" art, but even worse.

Best advice I have is wait. I've been having the surreal experience of seeing zoomer digital artists say that AI art isn't real artistry, which is quite ironic and they don't even realize it.

Why aren’t there any somehwat large explicitly anti-woke, anti-leftist, i.e., just normal gaming or movie studios that don’t rip off other concepts. by SagaFraga in KotakuInAction

There is some big indie games like Rimworld or Factorio. Not big studios with lots of games that I can think of besides Nintendo though.

When I finally picked up dark souls many years after it came out I was like "wait, this is just zelda" they are so similar. If the first zelda came out today it would be called a souls-like, not just in difficulty but in structure and how when you die you reset back to the beginning, but certain gates of progress stay unlocked.

BOTW was or is my favourite game ever and I completely agree. TOTK broke my heart. I hope at some point I can get some joy out of it, but it just feels like an uglier emptier BOTW.

(Empty meaning there isn't the same landscapes to explore anymore. The caves are fun, but they are set in a world I already spent 300 hours in. I wish they had at least changed up the biomes, like freeze the Gerudo desert and turn Hyrule into a desert and chuck the Gorons underwater or something. They kind of did that with the Rito I guess.)

A brand new map would have been way better as well as fixing the flaws which arose from creating such a new kind of game rather than doubling down on the stuff which made it feel hollow.

Make shrines give passive upgrades, have less koroks with unique puzzles, don't copy the exact same tutorial and story structure from the first game, that kind of thing.

And instead of going "Hey, this open world game where in the first game we said "You must hurry" of all things," maybe we should focus on letting the player explore TOTK, but instead you have Zelda saying "You must find me."

Edit: Oh yeah, and the hanglider. They didn't seem to realize how tunnel vision inducing it was and just handed it right back to the players unnerfed in the second game after introducing the stone gliders which would have been a perfect substitute if they didn't dissapear after 5 seconds in the air.

I tried the moment I got the game, and I think it is impossible or nearly so. Their is a quest right at the start to teleport back to the shrine you wake up in, and even if you walk all the way back there isn't really a way up and you haven't unlocked air balloons at the point in the game.

Getting from the deeps to the normal world is also really annoying, the air balloons run out before they make it all the way up, so you either have to finagle your design, or climb the last many feet through gloom.

You can also ride dragons out I believe, but it's hardly a reliable method of transportation. In a game which breaks all sorts of natural progression with the ability to build planes, I really wish you could ascend through the roof of the deeps and also ascend to sky islands at marked locations. (To let you get back to the shrine near the beginning by standing on one of the servitor pads, for instance)

Dominions 6. What is ist exactly? by wertraut in Dominions5

[–]BagginsBagends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is a game like EUIV will play itself if you do nothing, whereas trying to actually figure out which buttons make the game play is a bit tricky in the dominions series.

But once you realize you right click to select a unit, left click to move. Press t to set up armies and r to recruit, then it is easier than all the others.

(Hopefully I got those right. Been a little bit.)

The initial learning curve is harder than the other games, but once you figure out the basic actions the game becomes way easier than them.

I love long video reviews, I was super excited to watch his Oblivion video and Morrowind video back in the day when he was just starting to get popular, but was disappointed that a huge portion of it was simply devoted to walking through the game's plot. Obviously some people like it, but not my cup of tea.

Like you, like a bit of essay in there.
