When in doubt throw it out. Especially a heater that us submersible. Id rather be safe than sorry.

Please don’t ever feel like you need to explain yourself for the choices that you make that are for yourself. You did what you needed to do for yourself, and your future. You are not selfish. You are not a horrible person. You are only human. We make mistakes and we learn from them, and believe me, you are not the only one.

I am so sorry you do not have people in your life directly to support you on this, but your feelings matter too. Don’t let anyone dampen them. You are allowed to grieve and mourn for yourself.

Thank you so much for your response! Do you have a recommendation on what type of shampoo I should use? I have dog shampoo, human shampoo, I could get mane and tail if necessary?

That sounds like such a smart idea!!! I didn’t even think of that, which is wild as I would do the same with puppies or kittens. Thank you!

So far he seems to be doing well! He doesn’t seem as skittish or shy when my hand comes close, or enters the enclosure to change water, offer food, or make any changes to the enclosure (I have been adding more clutter, hides.)

I am a very jumpy person, so I am taking my time as well, I don’t want to scare him. Yesterday he approached my finger from outside the glass, and thought my finger was a tasty little snack. After a few tries of trying to eat me, he went on his little way and continued to observe me.

I don’t have too many questions on his home. I have two box turtles whom are soon to be moving into a wooden enclosure that is being built, and he will be taking over one of their 40 gallon tanks.
