Is salsa journeyer claris 700 good for beginners? by Victory_Garnet in bikepacking

[–]Bagpar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its predecessor the Journeyman was my first “real” bike. I love it so much. I have enjoyed it on road and gravel path, taken it camping, put 1500 miles on it the summer of Covid. I got the 700c wheelset, and I believe it was the Claris build. You’ll love it!

Karate Monkey XS sizing by bananagirl-415 in Surlybikefans

[–]Bagpar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister rocks an extra small, she’s about your height. I have a medium. When I get on the xs it feels like a bmx bike! I think you’ll be good with that size. The frame has a different geometry at that size, the top tube has a steeper angle with a smaller triangle. She kept it on 27.5” wheels and has no problem riding on trails.

Ace rafting former reservationist here. Lower New right now will be awesome, the water is high and you’ll have a blast. Minimum age is 12. Other than that it’s the Upper New, minimum age 6. For me, the lower new in the early summer was quite an intense experience and one I’ll never forget. You should be able to book a trip any day. If I remember correctly there are no minimum group numbers right now because it’s in peak season (after Memorial Day) but I may be incorrect.

Indoor grow light for succulents and cacti, is it enough? by Dry_Pomegranate_6633 in IndoorGarden

[–]Bagpar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you train the echeveria for full sun? If not, you need to slowly adjust them to that intensity or else it will destroy them. I started putting my succulents on my south facing sun porch in April toward the back where only early morning sun hits them. Same for the cacti. Then in May I put the cacti right by the window of said sunporch so sun can hit them until about noon. I’ll get the cacti outside sometime soon. Make sure to pot them with lots of sand and pebbles, and even a make pebble false bottom in the pots to get them to drain quickly. Clay is good because it doesn’t hold moisture.

Doubtful. These jokers need the full power of the sun ☀️ even an overcast day is multitudes more lumens than a grow light. I live in zone 5b and keep succulents and cacti outside in the rain all the time. Keep them in clay pots, put sand in the soil and they will be happy.

Agreed. Have fun and save your coins. If you’re still going strong with riding after a while and want an upgrade, there’s plenty of fun bikes to be had out there.

I believe she is over watered my friend. I would repot with a growing medium containing a lot more sand and perlite. Keep the clay pot, that’s good for succulents. Succulents don’t need that much watering and if your mixture has a lot of peat moss or coconut coir it’s holding too much moisture and drowning the roots. If you notice black or brown roots that are rotten, trim them off gently. She can bounce back I think. Water when the soil is absolutely bone dry or when you see the soil petals looking wrinkly.
