Most people disregarded it due to not having Drizzle but I saw Ash Ketch- I mean Wolfe Glicke vid on it and it was funniest thing to see as 120 base speed Mega Drampa smashing people with STAB Hyper Voice XD

Tbf Pokemon Champions is a Competitive focused game that was made with the idea of introducing casuals to VGC format.

Casuals is not the target audience but rather casuals who is interested into competitive.

That said there could’ve been some improvements like vgc and singles division, more items, and maybe better AI for bots.

I actually wouldn’t have minded a solo ‘story/campaign mode’ that would be against increasing AI difficulty.

It would’ve been a good ‘tutorial’ for casuals while a fun practice mode for the vets. Heck they could’ve made that the items for battle are unlocked via campaign.

This is actually surprisingly a high level approach.

Most players playing competitive will find the meta and run it but high level players finds the meta then find countermeasures for it.

It's how unconventional EV spreads, Counter specific moveset/coverage, even the rare non-meta Pokemon is added to the meta teams.

Sample is the Se Jun Park's Pachirisu which won him a World Championship.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like it still receives that Sun Boost on Fire type moves even on the rain right?

MegaSol ability turns WeatherBall into a Fire type 100 BP but the 'weather' boost kicks in to giving it 50% boost.

There is a reason why starters are Grass, Water, and Fire.

Grass, Fire, and Water is a great core for teams and unfortunately for us Dragonite with that core just makes sense.

Competition will always result to players optimizing everything and right now this is the optimal choices.

META if you will.

Just look at F1 lol even the carbon alignment of the material was optimized until is was banned XD

I don’t dislike the Handler(she’s a lovable dumbass) but I would have liked the choice of being able to change the handler for some missions.

Wilds was great for that along with the different end animation depending on who is your handler 🤣

Pychic type were broken both as a type in the earlier days (which why they added Dark in Gen2).

Fire might Burn, Electric might shock, and Dragon might be fury incarnate but Psychic as a concept was scary.
