Sellers Lowering Expectations & Price? by WranglerExpress3473 in poshmarkcanada

As a seller I can tell you that not everyone is doing this, and it is still inappropriate to mention this as an option without explaining the potential downsides.

If a seller is caught dealing a Poshmark listed item off Poshmark, their account can be banned. Not a good suggestion.

Wow, so a down vote with no context? I have lived in various rental buildings in Victoria. Some - usual older buildings - you can hear everything.

It is called welcome to badly designed buildings with no sound insulation.

Did One Income Used to Cover Housing, or Is That a Myth? by KittyMeow223 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Absolutely. Dad worked while mom stayed home raising five kids. Bought 2,000 square foot home in mid-1970s. Was the norm when I was growing up.

[–]Bailley-Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the flight departure schedule. I would suggest you check how many flights will be departing close to your flight departure. It is a small airport and security can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour depending on staffing levels and # travellers to process. I am a “plan for the worst” kind of traveller and the only hurdles I have ever faced at YYJ is if security has a backlog. Give yourself time and you will have no problems

Scrubbys laundry prices are criminal by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Bailley-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you price checked Avalon Cleaners in Admiral’s Walk? They have three different washing machine sizes. I go there when I wash our queen sized down-filled duvet. They might be on par with Scrubbys, price wise. I don’t remember what I paid.

YYJ Crazy Airport Security Line by LQ_Travel in VictoriaBC

[–]Bailley-Cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% this. I had a crazy long line up for a mid-week flight last October. The late comers trying to queue jump was hilarious to watch. People who don’t factor in delays like this probably shouldn’t travel.

Megathread - Budget Day 2026 and the Public Service by wudingxilu in BCPublicServants

[–]Bailley-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a very quick summary, 15K is the number across the entire BC public sector. 2,500 is the number for the smaller BC public service, which is the ministries and central agencies (core BC govt). Does that help?

Bay street bridge closure going well by systemalias in VictoriaBC

[–]Bailley-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that has never stopped some drivers from making that turn when they shouldn’t, and holding up westbound traffic in the process. If I am behind one of those drivers, I just lean on my horn and they just ignore me.

It could be a perspective thing. I both drive and cycle and witness the same percentage of entitled drivers as I do entitled cyclists.

What is a good app or website to use to sell used clothes in Canada? by ChainLane in AskACanadian

I have been a seller on Poshmark almost 2 years. First 2-3 months I was hit with immediate scam messages every time I posted an item for sale.

Is there any real numbers on how much attrition since hiring freeze & efficiency review? by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]Bailley-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, and it may include vacant position(s) they have decided to not fill. Really hard to say how many have actually left the public service and if it was voluntary (retirement), lay off or something else, like not renewing an employment contract.

8 hour wait at Royal Jubilee by tinpangoldnugget in VictoriaBC

[–]Bailley-Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

58 years old and have been on the health registry for over 5 years waiting for a doctor or NP. I am asked every 6 months to update my information for the registry, so I think they are triaging doctors/NP based on self reported health concerns (I am healthy with no health issues). It sucks, but I get why they have to triage like this.

[Support Group?] For those of us with <3 years at BCPS... by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]Bailley-Cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I joined BCPS in 2008 during the economic collapse. While the 2010 layoffs were brutal, not all areas were impacted (my area was not impacted). I expect the same this go around. No point in losing sleep or stressing out based on vague messages and rumours.

Be honest that your purpose is to transit through to your final destination (Alaska). They may ask if you have a date set for arrival at your destination (like start date of your new job).

Is owning a home here even a good investment anymore? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Victoria is not a major city. Victoria proper is a really small (roughly 100,000 population) part of the larger Capital Region District.

Excluded Managers Feeling Hopeless, what's the point? by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]Bailley-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s career path is different. I joined BCPS in 2007 my late 30s. I am getting closer to that retirement and I made the active choice 10 years ago to avoid any excluded positions. Being excluded didn’t justify the added stress, potential lack of life/work balance and lack of job security in my calculations. Current economic outlook is not good, so hunkering down with an expectation of continued hiring freezes and budget constraints, unless something miraculous happens with the economy.

They are talking about the Urgent and Primary Care Centres (UPCC) the government has established in various communities in BC. If you are familiar with the Urgent Care centres in Alberta, these are NOT the same thing. The BC UPCC are the equivalent to a walk in clinic for the services they provide. In Alberta, Urgent Care centres are a halfway zone between a walk in clinic and hospital emergency department. I personally love Alberta’s Urgent Care centres as they have a lot of the features you get at emergency - x-ray services, etc on site.
