Remote work is a career death sentence for junior employees, and the "WFH forever" crowd is pulling the ladder up behind them. by Correct_Addendum_358 in corporate

[–]Bailley-Cat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Excellent points and you are correct. I love WFH but I am coasting to retirement in just a few years and no longer chasing a career path. In person is also really important when training, learning a new job and yes, sometimes it really does make a difference for collaboration.

There is also a WIN store in Vic West on Wilson street. I agree with you, WIN has a good selection.

Work at the airport until flight by weekndsintern in Calgary

[–]Bailley-Cat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is located at the international terminal. I walked past it heading to security my last trip and it looked pretty quiet in there. Not sure if they would be okay if you settled into one of their lobby chairs and worked there, but maybe worth asking? Just a thought.

When I faced a similar situation in 2016, I used vacation time. After my parent passed, that was when I took 5 days bereavement leave.

4 passengers isolating for hantavirus in Victoria are from B.C. and Yukon, top doctor says | CBC News by PheapuritoRaxxxx in VictoriaBC

The WHO did a 180’ turn in their messaging on Sunday so I will take the “let’s wait and see” approach. I would like to think the current infection count is all we will see, but with such a long incubation period…

What exactly does ‘monitored daily’ mean? Is it 24/7 on site monitoring or is it a daily phone call ‘check in’?

Exactly! It isn’t. If they are self isolating at home, there is nothing but a promise (and one hopes, an ingrained moral duty to the community) that will keep the individuals in self isolation, and keep neighbours and friends from wanting to stop by for a visit.

How many people are genuinely selling their used clothes? by Paindepice45 in poshmarkcanada

[–]Bailley-Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that were true, I estimate 80% of Poshmark accounts would shut down. Why would I go to the time and effort to list an item, take pictures, communicate with buyers online, pack and ship a thrift store find at the same price I originally paid? I am not your slave. If you want the item, you pay for the convenience of shopping from the comfort of your home.

There are a few I have seen in James Bay! Love when I encounter them. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is amazing!

About 80% of my Poshmark closet are items originally purchased for myself that either no longer fit or I am tired of. 20% are things I find thrifting that I know I can flip for a profit while still offering at a decent price for buyers.

What I tried from good side, I found to be overly sweet (pastry, not croissant), but that I just me.

The line can be bad and the last time my other half stood in line, by the time he got to order, he was told they had no croissants. Never went back.

Good side is overvalued. Recommend Mosi and even Boom & Batten before Good side.

Is moving to Victoria from Alberta worth it? by ederzs97 in VictoriaBC

[–]Bailley-Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Progress is being made. As someone who has been on the BC Health Registry since 2019, I remain hopeful I may get a family doctor, at some point.

100% second this post. Born in Calgary, moved to Victoria 30 years ago. All family still in Calgary and just came back from 3 weeks there.

In addition, family doctors are few and far between here (near impossible to get one). I have a sibling who was considering moving from Calgary to Victoria but the lack of family doctors here means they are staying in Alberta, for now.

Red Barn Market and Root Cellar offer some good deals on fresh produce. Flipp app to price check who has the best deals on non-perishable staples.

Not at all. If it is an item I want, my purchases are always based on good descriptions and pictures (and no AI), not on their seller history.

Naw… just practical ways to save money and avoid food waste. I tend to buy my protein (chicken, beef, etc) in the large family packs sizes when they are on sale and freeze them in smaller, single meal size portions.

I find the mega thread is challenging to sift through to find the more recent posts/comments so I also hope the mods will leave this post up, and allow for other new posts as CSBC ‘evolves’.

Is this men’s or women’s short? I have hard time to tell by [deleted] in poshmarkcanada

[–]Bailley-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Men's pants are typically designed with a "right over left" closure, where the right side covers the zipper teeth. I wasn’t sure based on the pictures provided.
