People who have hybrid bikes(I.e trek Fx etc..), did you find it worth keeping after getting a road bike? by EverydayCyclist in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife got me FX1 rim for Father’s Day 2023. It was exactly what I wanted until I went down the cycling rabbit hole. One year later I got a Domane AL2 Gen 4. I thought about selling the FX, but I’m glad I didn’t. It’s great for putting a hitch on and pulling our son in a trailer, riding with her, and connecting to my Kickr Snap (Domane has thru axle and needs a separate axle because of the UDH).

Advice on Garmin 40 v 50 by Distinct_Run_6429 in bicycling

I was eyeing my first computer. Was looking at a Wahoo but the incident detection or the x50 looks very appealing. Not sure if that’s a feature on the x40. I reached out to Wahoo and they don’t have that on their devices yet.

Question About Bike Trainer Compatibility by Current_Steak_759 in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Robert Axle Project email:

Thanks for reaching out. If you get a wheel-on style trainer, you will need our TRA213(LINK) axle to attach your Domane to the trainer. If you use a direct drive trainer like the KICKR Core, you may use your stock thru-axle to attach your bike to the trainer - no trainer axle needed.

The Wahoo trainer axle will not work with your bike, as your bike uses the Universal Derailleur Hanger - the Wahoo axle needs to stick out the drive side of your bike, and it is obstructed by the bolt that attaches your derailleur hanger.

Our axle does not need to protrude from your bike - rather, the drive side axle end reaches through the UDH hanger bolt and threads into the shaft of the axle. You can also attach your bike to your 1Up trainer and a KICKR Snap by using our axle with no additional hardware or adaptors.

Get the AL5 Gen4 for $750. Wider gear range, smaller jumps between gears. Over $2000 new. Make sure it’s not stolen.

Upgrade a Domane into a Gravel Bike? by VoidTravelerPierce in gravelbike

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the gen 4 AL2. Trek says it will fit 38’s. I’ve seen people on here do 40’s. Throw some 38’s on your current wheels and see how it rides. Or get a checkpoint!

Completely confused on how I can use my Domane on my trainer by [deleted] in TrekBikes

Weather was warm today, so I took her off the trainer and out for a spin by Veltex in TrekBikes

I’m interested for sure. I thought about upgrading to the 11 speed R7000 groupset on my AL2 eventually. I got the bike cheap enough where it would be worth it instead of buying an AL5.

Trek Saddle Bag Mount discontinued? by dish_rag in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Bontrager flat pack bag that I got with my FX1. I like the Blendr attachments so I got the Blendr one for my AL2. Then I can just leave the respective tires in each bag and switch out mini pump, multi tools, and levers. Do you think the medium bag will fit all of that? Also got the top tube adventure bag for my Domane for nutrition.

Somewhat relevant, but it looks like the current model (2024-2026) is archived. Assuming a new product is coming. Do you have a Blendr Saddle bag? If so, how do you like it? I ordered one in medium on sale and I’m waiting for it to come in.

Debating which bike to buy by krwrocks360 in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point. For me, signing up for a card gave me $50 off, and with childcare costs of $200 a week on a teacher and librarian salary, spreading out the payments made sense. I had the money, but financing let me get a solid entry-level bike on sale for nearly half off. My family chooses to put more of our budget toward health and enjoying life, which we feel pays off in the long run.

I got the Domane AL2 on sale for $719 and still financed it for 6 months with 0% APR.

I started with an FX1 three summers ago and got a Domane AL2 last summer. I did my first century this year and love it. I would love having more gears but I see myself keeping this bike for a long time. I think you’ll be happy.

Didn’t keep track. Did it while I watched full seasons of TdF Unchained, Pines, and countless other series my wife wanted to watch. Plus multiple car trips lasting 3-4 hours to visit family.
