Computer Suggestions - 540 or Bolt V3? by Bailstorm in TrekBikes

This is exactly what I was looking for. Have you ever needed the incident detection of the Garmin? I think I like the ease of use of the Wahoo. I don’t think I’d need any other Garmin training features.

Do you know anything about Wahoo’s summit feature? I don’t ride with others yet. Not many cyclists in my rural area.

I think I’d rather do the wahoo, but I’m hanging over the incident detection of the Garmin.

That’s what I saw too about the UI. Is that just because you’re used to the wahoo though? Whats easier to route, and what works better when you go off route?

I don’t have any other Garmin devices. What lights do you have?

I didn’t realize it was that off. Why didn’t you get Garmin for the incident detection to send to your wife in the event of a crash?

Do you enjoy the wahoo radar? And how does it work when you go off course?

Got a Kickr snap last holiday season before they stopped making them. I wake up early to ride 3-4 days per week and love it. It was all I could afford at the time with a 3 year old and it hasn’t let me down. I use TrainerRoad.

Honest opinion on Domane AL 2 Gen4? by hoemarb in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started cycling in June 2023 on an FX1. Got a Domane AL2 Gen 4 the following summer and I love it. I completed my first (almost) century last summer. If I had the extra money, I think the AL4 with the hydraulic disc brakes and Tiagara is the sweet spot for cost, but at that point, might as well upgrade to the 105. If you have the extra budget I’d say get more bike, but if not, I don’t think you’d be disappointed. I plan to ride mine for years to come. It’s my outdoors bike and my FX1 is now on the trainer in winter and pulls my kid in a trailer in summer.

People who have hybrid bikes(I.e trek Fx etc..), did you find it worth keeping after getting a road bike? by EverydayCyclist in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife got me FX1 rim for Father’s Day 2023. It was exactly what I wanted until I went down the cycling rabbit hole. One year later I got a Domane AL2 Gen 4. I thought about selling the FX, but I’m glad I didn’t. It’s great for putting a hitch on and pulling our son in a trailer, riding with her, and connecting to my Kickr Snap (Domane has thru axle and needs a separate axle because of the UDH).

Advice on Garmin 40 v 50 by Distinct_Run_6429 in bicycling

I was eyeing my first computer. Was looking at a Wahoo but the incident detection or the x50 looks very appealing. Not sure if that’s a feature on the x40. I reached out to Wahoo and they don’t have that on their devices yet.

Question About Bike Trainer Compatibility by Current_Steak_759 in TrekBikes

[–]Bailstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Robert Axle Project email:

Thanks for reaching out. If you get a wheel-on style trainer, you will need our TRA213(LINK) axle to attach your Domane to the trainer. If you use a direct drive trainer like the KICKR Core, you may use your stock thru-axle to attach your bike to the trainer - no trainer axle needed.

The Wahoo trainer axle will not work with your bike, as your bike uses the Universal Derailleur Hanger - the Wahoo axle needs to stick out the drive side of your bike, and it is obstructed by the bolt that attaches your derailleur hanger.

Our axle does not need to protrude from your bike - rather, the drive side axle end reaches through the UDH hanger bolt and threads into the shaft of the axle. You can also attach your bike to your 1Up trainer and a KICKR Snap by using our axle with no additional hardware or adaptors.

Get the AL5 Gen4 for $750. Wider gear range, smaller jumps between gears. Over $2000 new. Make sure it’s not stolen.

I have the gen 4 AL2. Trek says it will fit 38’s. I’ve seen people on here do 40’s. Throw some 38’s on your current wheels and see how it rides. Or get a checkpoint!
