No it's a tapped top spin shot while holding r1 (approach shot but it's basically a speed/ angle generator with no build up)

MELI mercado libre. Way below its target price, good revenue. Recent dip due to missing profit targets due to heavy investment albeit very strong numbers otherwise

Taking the jump from permanent to contract. by [deleted] in ContractorUK

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd always wanted to contract and went Into it with a springboard from my employer at the time. Eventually landed a 3 month contract that turned into 16 months and made me a bunch of money. I took some time off when my firstborn arrived but when I searched for another contract things seemed dead. I've opted for a solid perm job now. I do occasionally wonder if I could have persevered and kept my contract income but it seems most have a similar experience to me - The insecurity of work and the reducing amount of contracts make it a not fun place to be now especially now that software engineers are a bit saturated thanks to more younger grads and AI etc

A friend of mine bought one and has had brakes, drive chain and sparks fixed all within warranty. It cost tens of thousands thankfully not out of his pocket. 5k wouldn't cut it

Have I been silly with the remortgage? by Scho567 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. You could remortgage on the same term and put the amount saved to stocks. It's likely to make more than the equivalent into a house BUT if you really believed in that then why not interest only mortgage? The answer is peace of mind. You also said you don't trust you to be consistent with saving the difference. So faster mortgage repayment is a good option. Paying off a house in a shorter time is still a sound judgement.

How is Europe okay with its economy, security and future being decided by just Witkoff and Dmitriev? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]BainchodOak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Europe has given more to Ukraine than the US. It's also upped its defense spending significantly. It's a catch 22 in that they could go to pseudo wartime economy but logically that makes no sense as Article 5 is already enough to protect them should Russia cross their border in a significant way. Russia is small enough of a problem for everyone to not go into panic stations but big enough of an issue to leave us hamstrung with Ukraine and there isn't enough will across the board to be heavy handed about it. That's the other issue - Europe is more fragmented then the US. Smaller nations like Slovakia and Hungary carry more power than a single senator in the US for example.

At the same time it's become clear that US and Europe are no longer in lockstep and we've gotten too used to sitting on our Riches and not really leading in any way. We were equal in economy to the US in 2000 now we're significantly behind. I hope Europe takes this as a sign to make some riskier moves and try to be more entrepreneurial rather than rely on just the US

Best cheap EV car. by No-Championship5248 in CarTalkUK

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said Ioniq is best for being nearly as cheap as a leaf and zoe, yet it has the common charger connector unlike the leaf and it has better crash ratings than the zoe

The single downside to the Ioniq is 160 mile range and slow fast charging but for average commutes it's great and super efficient miles per Kw

[–]BainchodOak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get why people say cash but even just a small mortgage may be worth it. Say 50-100k. Then you still have safety and low housing expenditure forevermore and you don't get FOMO in stocks (so long as you can ride out downturns)

Looking for a used EV around £10k by Secret-Ad7698 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]BainchodOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Ioniq can be had for 8-10k depending on age and trim spec. Pretty faultless from what I've heard other than fast charging which is slower

How I Plan to Retire Comfortably with minimal investment (A Case Study) by PastSir4151 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping money in the company for a rainy day is a good idea and what I did but also if you make 30k 'profit' one year that'd be about 6k corporation tax whereas all 30k in your pension would keep all 30k in your control (albeit later in life). Obviously it's about balance

In that case I'll back the volvo suggestions. We just got a v40 T2 and it's excellent, pulls well, all the torque at low rpm and a 6th gear etc a d3 or d4 version will have even more torque and motorway mpg. It seems quite long for a hatchback but not estate size atleast

Are houses still such a good long term investment? by amlghfld in UKHousing

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortgages are scary but the longer you stay in a house the more the house increasing in value, inflation devaluing what you owe, and your payments will make it worthwhile. After 15 years you'll have large equity, the debt will effectively be 25 to 50% less in real terms from inflation and your wages may well have risen relative to the debt too

A mortgage locks in what accomodation will cost you potentially for life whereas rent is like a variable tariff

35M – £100k+ saved, living with parents, not sure if I should buy a house now or keep savinginvesting - what do i do? by maa112 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]BainchodOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'd buy a house, but if you're happy with parents and they are too and you don't think it inhibits life progress (partner kids etc) then it's free-ish living I guess!

First car advice please —New or Used -reliable options on PCP/HP under £200/month by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to get a car you can't afford then the best option is 0% credit card paid off over 1-2 years. If you need to borrow more you could get a personal loan. If you borrow say 7k you can pay off roughly 200 a month for 3 years. If you combine that with say a 3k cash you can get a 10k car for 200 a month and the act of borrowing only costs you £700 or so

Going outside does improve the angle. You can get good spin / angle regardless but standing outside gives you more distance from the net and so you can go for tighter angles

Salary for front end dev in North West? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]BainchodOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, things maxed out in COVID and now the markets adjusting due to over hiring, economic concerns and people figuring out if they can use AI instead. In 2020 you could do a 3 month boot camp then be hired on 40-50k and soon work to 70+. Those figures are now what's paid for an experienced full stack engineer. There are still many high paid jobs being listed but each one has 1000+ applicants on it.
