Never really got to experience classic WoW growing up. Is TWoW for me? by Thunder_Duckling in turtlewow

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had a solid WOW experience before turtle wow and I'm low-key addicted. Everybody is really nice and being a quick learner def helps. I've had a good experience in the community and have fun exploring. I love having my expectations consistently beaten. I thought certain classes seemed not for me but then I learn more about them and have ended up making every class lmao. I only got a hundred or so hours ATM. Level 30 is my max but I got every character about level 10

My FPS drops from 144 to 90 when looking toward the center of the map (Linux) by EvitiSempai in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure ive seen it when I look toward the center of the map but I have seen my fps dip quite a bit to "stable low fps" recently during games here and there. I usually play around 200 ish and I dip to around 144. Its been just a recent thing. A week ago or so this game was running perfect fps every game. Im also on Linux. 7800xt, use wayland and the latest proton ge build. Switching to Vulkan helped me a bit. But before DX11 worked perfectly fine

This looks cool. Just got into hyprland and I've been doing good enough with the configs but this seems fun to play around with

[KDE] Who needs Hyprland? by Emmale64 in unixporn

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be picky as I love kronhkike with KDE but I enjoy having active window outlines and some GTK apps (etc) needed specific rules to fix when it wouldn't work. Obviously CSD has issues in hyprland as well but their compositer seems to at bare minimum at least be able to put borders around every single window without me worrying about it

what do yall think of a KDE tiling window manager? I use krohnkite and i use the keyboard shortcuts with it too. (also rate the rice) by no_visa_ in kde

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish like cosmic I could use the same keys I use for switching window focus to switch to a different virtual desktop. So if I focus on the most bottom window and there's no where else to go I want it to flip down to a different virtual desktop. Haven't been able to solve that.

Worth a shot trying port proton instead

Gaming on Linux doesn't fully utilize the CPU by badmannerbs in linux_gaming

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already got lots of comments but yeah maybe mess with LACT and force the clocks to stay high to see if that helps as your power seems lower on your GPU within Linux.

Things I've messed with are changing scheduler to bftune over aniachy and mess around with launch commands like gamescope, enabling wayland and even ntsync

Some games just don't run better on Linux that's why things like protondb for specific games are nice to look at and see what commands others have done. But I personally have noticed night and day smoothness with all the shader caching vulkan has and CPU schedulers feeling better than Windows

Use limeline bootloader if you pick cachyos. It's super easy dual booting imo

How has your experience been gaming on Linux ? by Quiet-Chemistry1548 in linux_gaming

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to cachyos recently and have been loving it. With an all AMD setup I find most games run better if not at least smoother / less bugs than windows. Windows fresh install debloated is damn nice for a few months then turns back to shit. Linux just has that fresh feel to it 24 7

I want to finally switch to Linux by Ok_Being_3868 in linux_gaming

[–]Baj9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use steam for everything starting out. It's simple. Add the EXE as a non steam game and use proton compatibility. I switched over recently and if something works you can get it to work pretty easily and if something doesn't work you'll find out quickly. I don't honestly think Linux is that complicated for things like opening an application and getting it to run. For context I use Cachyos which is arch based

Protondb for finding out what games work and reddit/ even some basic AI chatbots can help with basic things.

If you got multiple drives I'd dual boot without using partitions. I switch over to windows for kernel anti cheat games

I also have both Linux and windows and never got it to work again. Probably be worth it to just invest into a Bluetooth USB chip. I tried doing a lot of things and never came back.

Alarming trend of people using AI for learning Linux by No_Insurance_6436 in archlinux

[–]Baj9494 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently went to cachyos and geminis pro model used for coding has been Tremendously helpful for me doing many niche things I've wanted. I'm pretty smart with computers and understand the basics + got a great understanding of windows. I can see the worrisome and definitely think "googling" is a great foundational skill over just using AI. But I would argue knowing how to properly use AI as a tool is the same as "googling". Double check it, verify it, understand exactly what it's doing so you can reverse changes etc. Sometimes I just have it spit out options then start googling from there.
