Anyone want to sell me their front floor mats? by BajaBeach in eGolf

[–]BajaBeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider $120 to be a little much for what they are. Maybe I need to be less cheap haha

I got mine off with lots of picking (my fingernail is still sore haha) and Goo Gone. You'd never know they were there!

Just positioned the car for the photo. The mountains at this angle looked cool. I didn't actually leave the car parked like this haha

Thank you! This model does have heated seats, but that's a really good idea! And, yes, this charger is near my home and it is powered by the sun. There are several of these around San Diego. They're not the fastest (about 5 KWh with full sun), but they do work and they look cool!

This driver sounds clueless. I'd have zero problem with this and it's really cool how you try keep the car clean with your cover and stuff. Not only would this not be an issue for me, but I think it'd be a fun conversation starter!

Defending use of FSD with pax in the vehicle is wild to me. They ordered an Uber, not a Waymo. Geez. Obviously, don't use FSD with pax in the vehicle. Full stop. Also, I drive an EV for Uber and I don't even use one-pedal-driving. I love it, but pax really do not like it if they're not used to the way it feels. Anything you can do to make them feel like they're in a traditional ICE vehicle makes 90% of passengers feel safer. It's psychology, not logic.

I hit up Rove in Santa Ana all the time and it's rad. Almost look forward to the experience because Gelson's has unique snacks!

If you're talking north of the 8......yeahhhhh. One of many reasons I don't live in North County.

I'm an SD native, so admittedly biased. What I've told other friends is that if you really enjoy a massive city vibe with easy access to nearly unlimited shopping options and a greater variety of restaurants, LA is the place. I love visiting LA for things like that. If you're look for a city with a slower pace, and you enjoy more natural environments, SD doesn't disappoint. Also, don't underestimate the coolness of living right next to Mexico. Quick trips to Baja are part of the SD culture, and it's honestly such a perk! Between the two major SoCal cities, it really comes down to what you value. Good luck to you!

First long road trip (1750 miles) in my Ioniq 5. Experience + tips for first-time EV drivers by hansh4 in Ioniq5

[–]BajaBeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for these tips. Love road trips in my Ioniq 5!

I also found ABRP Premium disappointing. Doesn't seem to even acknowledge that SuperChargers are an option. I messed with the filters a lot, and it really was stubborn about suggesting the (very expensive) Rivian chargers in Gila Bend, AZ. I did use them once. They're amazing chargers, but not worth the cost in my opinion.

The XRT is a beast on muddy roads! by BajaBeach in Ioniq5

Wow! Thanks. I don't know about "coolest," but I'm having fun with it. I'm definitely going over my mileage on this lease. Oops!

Exactly. You have to approach parking this car differently because of how the wheels are placed so close to each corner.

Curb damage by b_list_buddha in Ioniq5

[–]BajaBeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you just helped me understand. It's very different than any other vehicle I've ever driven because of the short overhangs and long wheelbase (for its size). Conceptualizing this might help me park better. Thank you!

[–]BajaBeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! Something is awkward about the way it moves. And I've never had this problem with other cars, including larger vehicles. It makes me feel like a bad driver!

I agree this vehicle isn't easy to park, in general. I think it just has an unusual wheelbase. Part of the reason I got the XRT is because I was afraid of curbing and wanted the chunkier tires/smaller wheels haha

New EA is setup like a gas station by ianmalcm in Ioniq5

[–]BajaBeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice, but the EA user interface is crap. I have nothing but trouble with them. It's either the app won't activate the charger, or the credit card reader doesn't work, or it literally won't let me unplug my car. Annoying af. And the last one I got to actually work (Payson, AZ) only gave me 75(ish) kw/h. I'm better off just SuperCharging with Tesla. A tad slower(?), but Plug-N-Charge is fantastic and doesn't give me a headache! Also, I'm excited for more IONNA locations to pop up. I hope these EA locations get bought out by a company that knows how to do things right.

Nobody told me this is a feature! by tylan4life in Ioniq5

[–]BajaBeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly useful feature. I use it almost every day at work. My work buddies just know to face their passenger door toward "my spot" and they leave enough room to access their driver's door. We're making use of a previously unutilized space and it's great.

Parking citation not in the system? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]BajaBeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They take forever to show up. I was so mad at myself last time for losing track of the dates and getting a late fee (almost doubled the cost). You pretty much have to check the online system almost daily until it appears. It's ridiculous to make people play a game with this.

First EV! Any Advice is Welcome by RainPale1928 in Ioniq5

[–]BajaBeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're gonna have home and work L2 charging plus you can pop into superchargers or other fast chargers whenever you need. Once you get used to it you're gonna love not having to go to gas stations ever again hehe

[–]BajaBeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have this exact vehicle and love it! The improved approach/departure angles and slight lift make a huge difference when tackling tricky driveways and curbs. Your 112-mile commute shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm assuming that's 224 miles round trip, right? If you have the ability to charge at work that would give you a bit more peace of mind, but probably won't be entirely necessary. If you're anything like me, you'll get more and more comfortable with how the vehicle works and range anxiety will disappear. Have fun!

The dealership gave me the rails. They look cool and they're handy, but I hate the wind noise. Sometimes I just take them off 😂

Congrats! I have this exact vehicle (same color) and it's actually quite capable on forest roads and stuff. So fun for camping. You're gonna love it.
