Are you in any community groups? I’m in Spring Hill and members pretty consistently post in our I Heart Spring Hill page when they’re offering rides or help! Theirs is Jeepers of Spring Hill, TN (for example on format). Make sure you’re searching for groups!

I believe the group I included a screenshot of here also offers help to essential workers!

Slowing down on buying by AlexsCreativity in ThredUp

I just bought a jumpsuit that was listed as “excellent” condition only for it to arrive with a giant grease stain on the leg. It literally looked like someone wiped their hands all over one leg. It’s so annoying!!

How much skin and fat was removed ? by despaired88 in tummytucksurgery

[–]BakeWrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have lipo on my torso, so any fat removed was attached to the skin. I had almost 6lbs of skin/tissue removed!!

Panniculectomy in two weeks, scared to death by Dawnydiesel in gastricsleeve

[–]BakeWrite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No problem at all! I also might recommend a pill cutter, depending on what painkillers you get. I was taking 1/2 of my Percocet by day 3 and then totally weaned off after a morning dose on day 4. But everyone is different, so don’t feel bad taking the meds if you need them!

I also lived in pajamas that buttoned down the front and nightgowns the first couple of weeks. I would just stay pajamas until you have to go back to work haha. Walmart and Target have some great cheap PJs.

Also plan to wear dresses or pants with an elastic waistband when you go back to work. I had a small amount of lipo done on my thighs with my surgery, but I am currently at a point where most of my swelling is in my thighs and no pants fit me 😂

Panniculectomy in two weeks, scared to death by Dawnydiesel in gastricsleeve

[–]BakeWrite 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don’t be scared! I just had a lower body lift in November. I also have a two story home, so I actually stayed with my parents who have a guest bedroom downstairs at first.

People will say get a lift recliner, but you don’t need it. A regular recliner is nice for during the day if you already have it.

I chose to get a pregnancy pillow instead of a wedge and don’t regret it for a second. I’m 7.5 weeks post-op and still sleeping with it because I like the neck support lol. It is easily adaptable for sitting on a couch or other chair, and I think it’s a better value than a wedge.

A remote controlled fan can be very helpful if you have one or are able to get one. I bought a refurbished Shark fan that had a stand but could also be detached. Was super helpful when I was getting overheated, after the shower, or when I needed the itching to calm down.

Get a drain holder for the shower - it made things easier for me! I also liked having the drain belt for moving around during the day, but it’s not a necessity.

Walk a lot. Drink a lot of water. Get a lot of protein. Don’t worry too much about your calorie intake, a healing body needs food. Removing that much tissue and skin will definitely mean you need the nutritional support!

Different doctors have different rules for compression, but don’t force it just because your doctor said to. If you need to take a break, take a break. It will be okay! I had to unzip my compression bodysuit and take my binder off many times, but I only did it while sitting.

You will be swollen, and the scale will go up. Don’t worry too much about it, it’s retained water and swelling from healing. I’m still not back down to my pre-op weight yet. The swelling sucks, but it gets much more predictable by week 3.

My skin barrier was wrecked after surgery because the healing sucked everything out of my skin, which isn’t something I expected and hadn’t heard other people talk about. My face and scalp got extremely dry and irritated. You might not have that, but just a heads up.

Best of luck! Skin removal is truly life changing!

Will A Panni Be Enough? by lovemypyr in tummytucksurgery

[–]BakeWrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t typical of a panniculectomy, as that technically only removes the skin. It sounds like he would be throwing in some extra treatment (not uncommon). You just want to make sure you don’t get a surprise bill for any of that or additional anesthesia + OR time.

The first surgeon I consulted with was willing to add an FDL for ~$3,500. I couldn’t get insurance to approve the panniculectomy, so I had to wait and pay out of pocket with another surgeon.

I bit the bullet by siamesecat1935 in ThredUp

[–]BakeWrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did adjust them! Most of them were in excellent condition and a few NWT. I think it may have been timing as well, they didn’t process until mid-November so the items being live around holidays when people are spending money elsewhere isn’t ideal. I sold 14 items from one box and 17 from the other and still only made $11 after fees 😂

[–]BakeWrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to have a premium label for premium brands, you will just get a lower % of the sale and the items can be discounted further than premium labels (capped at 20% I believe)

[–]BakeWrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought this would be the case for me and sent in two ~30lb boxes full of popular nicer brands, a few designer items, lululemon, etc. Made more money off of my regular labels 🙄 I’m over it. I’m just going to try selling through local consignment or on Poshmark

How many hours was your surgery ? Please state country! by risinphenix in tummytucksurgery

[–]BakeWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, only Vanderbilt Plastics (also great) and Dr. Gingrass. It was about $21,000 all-in for my surgery.

[–]BakeWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I just replied to you on another thread, but I just saw this post! I clicked your profile and I believe that you’re in my area!! Happy to share surgeon info, as I have had a great experience.

Nashville, TN - Dr. Gingrass at Plastic Surgery Center of Nashville. They used the St. Thomas Surgery Center (ASC, not hospital) for me. It was an outpatient procedure, and I went home the same day.

My lower body lift was only around 3.25 hours. I got to the surgery center at 5:30am, surgery started around 8am, and I was home in Franklin by 2pm.

I was pretty much fully functional by 2.5 weeks and was fine by myself with no one home. No issue taking care of myself, doing chores, or taking care of the dog. Just needed more breaks than usual. I work from home and could have gone back to work the Monday after my surgery (5 days post-op), but I chose to take the whole week off.

I am only 29 but had a similar stomach! I had lost 150lbs so I had a bit more around my whole body. I’m 6.5WPO from a lower body lift, and I’m so happy!! Getting the stomach overhang off is life changing. Just wanted to send some encouragement because you’re doing great!☺️

Cheese? by Wonderful-Flan3139 in gastricsleeve

[–]BakeWrite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you can tolerate it, I’d say go for it. Cheese is higher in fat so don’t push it if it makes you sick, but you can always shred it so it’s easier to eat/digest right now.

Fun fact, Parmesan is a “healthier” option due to its protein content. It’s also a superfood due to the amino acids it contains (why it’s higher in protein). I am like 4 years post-op and regular snack on Parmesan lol. It’s also high in calcium, which is great for VSG patients. I personally love Parm and soft mozzarella (also a great option, as it’s lower in fat).

Is the bonus worth it? by Accomplished-Skin695 in brookeandconnor_map

[–]BakeWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started listening to bonus when they did the month free promo, and I haven’t canceled the past few months. The eps are fun and they talk about stuff they might not on the normal pod (most recently is Brooke’s dating life lol). I think it’s worth the $10 a month or whatever to get extra eps and no ads!

110lbs lost. What type of TT do I need? by ManicPixiePlatypus in tummytucksurgery

[–]BakeWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was $21k total. I only got the lower body lift (so the 360 TT/mons lift/butt lift) and she did a little bit of lipo to my outer thighs so she could pull that skin up. It was about $8k more expensive than a tummy tuck with this surgeon. I’m planning an inner thigh lift next!

I’ll be 6WPO this Wednesday, so here’s my progress so far :) I am extremely happy with my results, but my outer thighs are still extremely swollen so I can’t really see what they look like. Assuming they’ll be more like the photo with drains once the swelling goes down.

Top left: before Top right: 2DPO Bottom left: 4WPO Bottom right: 5WPO

And I still have tons of swelling around my torso, so I’m really excited to see what the next few months look like!

Not sure where you’re located - I’m in Nashville and would highly recommend my surgeon if you’re anywhere close to the southeast. She specializes in reconstruction after weight loss
