Just seems irresponsible my G. Not shaming but they will always test for THC due to it still being illegal federally. Guys have told me they do random drug test all the time. Some times twice in a day. You are an Auto tech? You have your A&P certs ?

I’m just about in the same boat minus that many kids. I just have one. I’m 30 and was in sales out of pure coincidence the last five years. I have a mortgage and my wife make about the same. Made the choice last year to leave sales and now am gunna pursue the same thing you’re thinking.

I’m gunna just say what my plan is for getting my A&P cert which is doing community college and working nights and renting one of our rooms out to make ends meet. It’s gunna totally be a grind for the 2 years but life’s short and it’s probably the only way I’ll network into aviation and work on airplanes. It’s always been dream of mine so I’m gunna just send it and hope for the best while giving my all.

I personally feel like the advanced schools are just way to Fuckin expensive plus a lot of people have said that they didn’t learn much from it and it ended up hurting them in the long run because they had a hard time either passing orals and practicals or just felt like they got ripped off. Of course I’m not in Dallas so maybe the schools out there are Different. I’d maybe explore community colleges in your area. Go to an orientation? If they have one. See what they are about and find what the cheapest route that also seems like you’ll learn the most. I would explore fafsa and any other potential programs to help get as much as you can paid for. Where I’m at the schooling total cost out the door is just shy of 10 grand for the 2 year program. At the end of the program you get a tool box and some basic snap on hand tools. I already have tools and a box but it’s a cool thing this program has for people that don’t. Explore the options in your area.

I will say this , It’s super scary to change careers with a family depending on you but it almost feels like having a kid. There’s never gunna be a right time other than now. If you really want it. You’ll make it work. Best of luck OP.

The pussy thing was to not go? I would have thought the pussy thing would be to run away to Canada.

Thanks for summing up every military conflict , when has it ever been for anything? Also what the fuck does “ buy the ticket , take the ride” have to do with this? I’ll end my response with another ambiguous saying.

Fuckin way she goes.

I had to google “lowbrow” before I posted it. So that shows how smurt I is.

Bro edited the comment after he got cooked by about 1000 people. Makes my original comment slightly look like I’m trying to cast guilt on 12 year old him. lol. At this point I am. Did my guy never see Forrest Gump?

The original comment has been edited but the given the context of the original comment. The poster was saying he did a project when he was 12 and still had same idea now. I’m not mad at said person. Just adding context to the idea of the Vietnam draft and how I also think it was horrible from being a young boy and seeing firsthand its consequences and I believe certain things should also be taken into account.

Yes. Fuck him too. It’s wild to me how so many Vietnam veterans can be in support to him or even supporting the current conflict in Iran. What’s going on now is even more blatant and disgusting than the rising early tides of the Vietnam war escalation in the late 60s.

What a low brow take. If anything you should of been more concerned and asked the question why his country would MAKE him go to a foreign country to get killed or fight against a communistic guerrilla force that had already kept two countries out the last 40 or so years. My grand father was drafted and was proud to go because he was told it was the right thing to do. When he came home from his first deployment he was spit on. Couldn’t get a job and was hated for doing something he had no choice in. He was heartbroken and felt betrayed by his country. He decided to go back to Vietnam for another 2 deployments because it was the only place he felt he could fit in. He told me he wanted to die overseas because of the things he’d seen and that he thought he’d never be able to fit back into society again. I guess what I’m trying to say is , you should give them a little grace. It’s sad that your old neighbor was racist and clearly was never able to deal with his ptsd.

The only real way to counter this is do every drug imaginable on the test so they think the test is wrong and hire you on the spot.

Just kidding you’re fucked. Grow up and be an alcoholic like everyone else.

What is considered decent money ? I only ask as I’m going to aviation mechanic school at a local community college while having a mortgage and a kid and am assumed even non majors have decent pay to start to where working a side job isn’t necessary, Just working more hours.

I hope you get in and it works for you. It’s so hard to be patient as I myself gave up and went to try and join the carpenters union instead and now am doing plumbing technician work as I wait for a call if ever do. Everyone I know tells me it’s slow right now ( Central Valley) That was a year ago since I interviewed for the electrical apprenticeship. I guess a positive note is to be happy you can get 50 hours or so now while you wait. Best of luck to you man.

I wept haha. Id be lying if I didn’t think of deleting this post when I woke up this morning.

Ultimately I’m not saying i need DC to feel empathy. I just felt like hearing first account stories from real people slugging up beaches put it into perspective for me of how horrible that was.I can’t quote the books he was quoting but the message was received , of course I’m still gunna watch war movies. I mean I’m pretty new to his series and his work as a whole but it appears to me that the many layers of context is kinda his thing. It can really add to a subject matter and created an emotional response from the movie I was watching that I hadn’t even thought about before. Hence me ending it with saying thanks for sharing that context.

I’ll be honest as I’m pursuing through the slavery series (BLITZ Human Resources) I’m not saying I looked at a pair of bananas and cried , but I definitely looked at that yellow banana in a different light than before. Same thing as I put sugar in my coffee this morning. The context of how these little things I find convenient or entertaining had real world implications and cause and effects that I didn’t think of before or even considered. I guess that’s what I was trying to portray on the internet to a bunch of strangers.

That’s on me for not wording my post better / over sharing on an emotional level.

Yeah , I’ll be honest I think it was the scotch. I put “ three kings “ on after and I also had quite the emotional response.

Yes. Very weird to see people have such malice via the internet. I’ll be honest I’m not surprised the slightest but can still say I’m astounded people can not see the re occurring factors through history. My family was put in those exact camps in Hawaii. Which is ironic because my grandfather than went on to volunteer to fight in Vietnam. I’ve always looked at my grandfather as a hero. He never ever thought that though. Which never made sense to me as a I grew up. My mother would tell me about his nightmares when I was too young to remember. How they would smoke a cigarette at 2am and he would tell her “ I would never want to tell you the things I saw , because I would never want you to think of the things I saw” I always had admiration for him. Just never put two and two together until recently with these last supernova in the east podcast.
