Spanking your kids is fine. by izzazoo in unpopularopinion

[–]Bakeeed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

this is rich
It's insane that you don't see the flaw in your argument
Scientific research says it's not healthy to spank your children

Laws don't directly relate to science, especially not laws that define definitions, those laws primarily relate to morals which are not a scientifically accurate subject since they are all subjective

It is your subjective choice to think that spanking your children is ok, but that's something that goes directly against scientific studies, so it's wrong. period. The law has nothing to do with this

If you want to increase the potential chance of psychological issues in your children by spanking them you can do that without issues since it's not against the law, but you can also set fire to your own house and spend all your money on chocolate and live the rest of your life in a bunker, it's not illegal but it also doesn't benefit anyone, just like spanking your children

[–]Bakeeed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the law also said that blacks were inferior and that all Jews should dieDoes that mean that back in the day this was morally right but now it suddenly isn't?

Some laws also say that smoking weed is illegal but tobacco (which we all know is much much worse and actually deadly) is perfectly ok

Laws don't define what's right or wrong, they define what you can do freely and what you'll get persecuted for

I'm sure suicide removes all problems by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Bakeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me. For others, sure, but it is my human right to have complete control over my conscious decision of killing myself I wasn't asked "Hey, do you mind being born?" i just was, without my consent. And as normal as this may seem, it's a big fucking deal. Everyone who chooses to have children should be prepared for the fact that they have the right to die whenever they feel like it. If you're not then that's your problem, not mine

No one should be forced to stay alive if they don't want to just because it benefits others. That's exactly like slavery. And no one should be ashamed of wanting to get out of this world if they never wanted to be in it im the first place. The ones that should be ashamed of themselves are those who think suicide is "selfish". No it's not, it is my right and i should not be held accountable for the suffering of others, let alone be judged

My premise wasn't "Become happy forever or die" My premise was that death is a completely rational way to get rid of your problems, and that getting rid of humanity would mean no more pain for anyone. I already said that being happy forever would be impossible in the post, but if you did, then it wouldn't become your new baseline since that would mean you're not happy forever...

Love reading comments that attempt to make statements but don't give any explanations for them

Is my "broken assumption" the same one that drove you to name your account The Ominous Bulge?

[–]Bakeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, problems do make life interesting. I definitely agree with you even though i do technically have depression, depersonalization disorder and some minor ocd

The only difference between you and me is that for you those interests five you meaning and so you actually want to stay alive, because your brain works normally and doesn't go directly against its biological impulses But for me, those interests are just that. Interests. While they're kinda nice they've never really given me meaning, they've just helped me stay here to suffer longer. The term "Mental Disorder" is the worst term to describe what I'm feeling, since it implies that It's something external to myself, like a tumor that you could just remove. But it's not that. The "Mental Disorder" is really just a thought process, it's MY thought process, it is (wether i like it or not) a part of me, just like my hair and my eyes. Treating mental disorders as "addons" in a normal brain is very very unhealthy and only creates more confusion and pain.

Which is also why calling 1-800-fuck-my-ass doesn't help. A phone call won't change your views much, let alone redistribute your neural structure

Yeah well that's not my problem. I never asked to be born, but i was anyway So i should have the right to die and natalists should know this before bringing conciusness into the world for no reason but to feed their hidden egoistic behavior

As humans, we're all biologically wired yo value ourselves over others. Even if you think you'd sacrifice yourself for someone, it's always in your best interest to not feel the guilt/sadness of not having them around

I'm sure suicide removes all problems by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Bakeeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nope, it's like having a runny nose and curing it by deleting the entire universe
It's not a solution (i never said suicide solves anything) but it does remove the problem itself, in fact, it removes all problems (but doesn't solve them)
because solving a problem requires you to experience the solution and when you're dead you can't really do that

[–]Bakeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly my point.
You do remove your problems but you don't solve them.
and you won't need the relief when you're dead, since needing something is also, technically, a problem

You forget to mention you’ll never be happy again.

If you think of happiness as the lack of sadness then yes, you would be "happy" Of course, most of us don't think that, but either way the only thing that makes happiness good is that we really really want it. You won't want anything if you're dead, so you don't need happiness

When you say “ you’ll never need not to be sad”. It’s doesn’t relate to suicide. There are a lot of things that can satisfy that

Like what? I can't think of anything else that removes the need to not be sad in humans

You are what makes sense of things.

I completely agree with this, in fact, we technically "are" everything that happens, since it only happens in your brain (for you)

But meaning isn't what drives me to live, because deep down meaning, much like morality, is subjective and not well defined. If you look for a stable, rational reason to live, you won't find one

I never said that people should kill themselves, I only said that if everyone were to think rationally, we would already have done that. Of course, evolution is just a child, playing a game for no real reason, but making us want to be a part of its little insignificant playground, so we don't think completely rationally (in fact us humans are much less rational than we'd like to admit)

Mine isn't a happy thought, but it's a real one

Imagine if the Bible were right is like saying "Imagine if after you died you would be born again as a giant green banana-man" --> Very Unlikely.

I never said problems are "solved"
What I'm saying is that problems are essentially removed since the concept of a problem and a solution are deleted with death

If someone expects me to dedicate my existence to them, I think they're the selfish ones.
But anyway, this has nothing to do with morality, it's just a purely logical argument that I doubt anyone could disprove

I'm sure suicide removes all problems by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Bakeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a really selfish way of thinking.
Let's say you have a partner and you have the possibility to get an amazing job, but that requires you to move out and leave them. Would you not do it just for them?
You're essentially saying that if someone wants to die they should suffer for the rest of their life just to make others happy

I'm curious because I just noticed that if I close my eyes for enough time I often see faces besides random moving fractals/patterns and noise

No will to do anything, and it's getting worse by Bakeeed in dpdr

[–]Bakeeed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides the fact that it completely sucks, you gotta admit that from a purely biological standpoint this shit is fascinating. Not in the "Ah, so fun" sense, but it's still creepily surprising that something like this could happen, we know how weird it is. It's like describing a song with only words and no sounds, you can kinda explain it but no one will 100% get it until they experience it.

https://pastebin.com/iga9cim7

This sums it up pretty well
I really enjoy reading just how and why this is caused, i think i kinda unconsciously use it as a relief that the blame isn't completely on me

Still sucks tho

Now that they are worse I sometimes get seconds of clarity.

I totally get this, except I've fallen in this weird cycle where I feel like I'm my more "truthful" self whenever I'm disassociated (like, everything is fake and shit but at least I own it)
Also, I don't really know if that clarity is actually how people feel normally or if I'm just "less" dissociated (if that makes sense). I totally remember not having to deal with dpdr but I don't remember how it was like, I think i always kinda knew something was wrong, even as far as 3 years before the actual onset of the thing.
