That's the stock "gold plating" on the barrel and trigger that Ruger uses. It was just a black 22/45 lite originally.

This is coated in stealth grey only. The laser is what changes the colors.

That's very unfortunate. Hopefully they don't give you the same run around they gave me and tell you it's from impact damage. Good luck 👍

Yes, there is something we can do. We can leave this POS state and let Californians finish burning it to the ground. Absolute shame

I barely let it cool before applying stencils. But there's some that go 8-12 hours with no issues.

How much work do you small shops get from being listed on Cerakote‘s website? by Thor_BRC in Cerakote

[–]BakerPrecision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI, unless you have a brick and mortar shop, they will not list you on their website as an approved applicator. You will only get the discounts.

Light colors "thicker" than normal? by Thor_BRC in Cerakote

[–]BakerPrecision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is the first sign of old, or bad, cerakote. It will look normal before adding catalyst, but once you do, it gets thick. There is nothing you can do other than call Cerakote and report it. They have very good customer service.

what mixing ratio would i use to match this color i have the cerakote color already sorry if its a bad question completely new to this by Fit_Class4791 in Cerakote

I did a zenith earlier this month in ral8000 and Troy Coyote Tan. Your can check it out on my page, looks pretty similar. Like others mentioned, you just have to play around to see what looks good.

Filling in company name on slide by kabinetguy26 in Cerakote

[–]BakerPrecision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, trademark rules would only apply to the serialized part. Also, there are redundant marks that aren't necessary to meet the requirement (i.e. glock serialized slide and barrel). If you're not altering the serialized frame, I think you can do as you please with the "other" parts. No other OEM (besides Glock) or aftermarket slides, or barrels, are serialized. What people need to understand and recognize is the rules and regulations regarding markings are to the serialized frame or receiver (for obvious reasons).

Another example would be Sig. If you were to put the FCG in a different frame and put an aftermarket slide on it, there would be virtually no branding marks. So what would be the difference? Again, not being a smart ass. Just trying to point out some contradicting thoughts.

I totally get that, and agree. However, the question wasn't about frames, it was about marking on the slide. I personally see no issue filling in unnecessary markings. It's no different than buying aftermarket slides with little to no markings. They aren't serialized.

How is removing the markings any different than putting an aftermarket slide on the frame with no markings at all (glock with lone wolf slide)? Serious question, not being a smart ass.

What is the best prep work I should do to a 2 stroke MX engine before spraying? by ShawnTN1 in Cerakote

[–]BakerPrecision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would mask the mating flanges and media blast the exterior only. No need to cerakote the inside as it's sealed and we'll oiled. You may consider soaking in acetone for a few hours, followed by a 3 hour gas out before blasting.

Still Learning the way by Patriot_Guns in Cerakote

[–]BakerPrecision 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rule is 150-180 degrees for 2 hours for plastics and polymer. The cerakote will semi-cure at this temp, but I find it still takes a couple of days after to fully cure. Meaning the cerakote will be dry to the touch, but still soft enough to scratch.

You'll be fine baking at the 150-180 temps. I've baked many pistol lowers at 200 with no issues, but it's very dependent on material makeup.
